Layer Me Up

I have always been a fan of layering dresses over trousers, it's the nineties girl in me, I like the way it puts a different spin on wearing a dress and somehow makes the dress seem different. It's comfy, it's a bit tomboy and it's layering, three of my favourite things.

In today's post I am wearing two different versions of the smock dress and Mom jeans ensemble. The gingham smock is from Topshop and the plaid one is from The White Pepper, the jeans are Topshop Mom Jeans. I also had to show you my new favourite hologram dolly shoes also from Topshop. I love them!

Be There or Be Square Daddio...

Today's post has morphed from a how I wear separates post to a full on plaids post and finally came to a sensible two outfit post about plaid skirts worn No Debutante style. As you can see I am not particular about the length or my plaid skirts and today's post features a punk inspired mini skirt from Topshop and a 1950s midi circle skirt both from Topshop concession Loving Youth. I like both skirts the same and have randomly chosen to wear them with my white Sonic Youth tee, I hadn't even noticed this until just a second ago! I wear my tee tucked into my skirts to accentuate the waist which is the most flattering way to wear it in my opinion.
The (first) instagram image of the short plaid skirt is the very first personal style fashion image I have taken where you could see my brand new Russian Doll tattoo! I am so please with my lovely tattoo and will put up a post about my tattoos very soon, so watch this space if you are a Trad Tatt Fan!

Although the plaid midi skirt is cut from a 1950s pattern, I have worn it with my Dr Martens to make the look more nineties grunge inspired. Midi skirts were very popular in the 1970s too so we have a real Modern Vintage Fash Clash on our hands with this look! Everything I love!

The Slip Dress

It's 90s, it's grunge, it's the slip dress! Whether layered up over t-shirts for true nineties styling, under jackets and shirts or worn alone in the hot summer, the slip dress is the dress to be seen in this year. I have owned my slip dress for about a year, it's a stonewash style denim slip from Topshop and I love it! The slip dress is a versatile item that can be worn all year round and here's a few ways I have worn mine this Winter. I Love Slip Dresses!

Smock And Roll

We all know that No Debutante has an obsession for Smock dresses at the moment, especially those wonderfully oversized smocks from my new favourite shop The White Pepper. Well, guess what I've been wearing lately?? Here's a couple of ways I have worn my smock dresses from The White Pepper in the past week, think 1990s indie girl Vs 1960s Dolly.

The first polka-dot smock dress is worn with the vintage denim jacket, contrasting red ankle socks and creepers. I wore this look to work and it was a surprising big hit on Instagram too, thanks to all my likers!

The second plaid smock dress was worn last Friday night at my club night Bang, I wore it with my lovely black kimono, creepers and polka dot frilly ankle socks. I like to boy things up a bit mixing cute girlie items with creeper shoes, it sounds like a tough look but this look is more cute than tough with the frilly ankle socks just adding to the cuteness! Kawaii!!!
Which is your favourite look?

Modern Vintage Meets Autumn Layering

Check out how I have moved Modern Vintage into the colder months with Autumnal layers and a mash up of a plaid circle midi skirt, a khaki bomber jacket, plimsoll creeper boots and a bright yellow new wave band tee worn with cute braids in my blue hair. A true No Debutante mash up of Modern vintage style for the autumn! Wrap up but don't lose your style beneath coats and layers this winter. Good luck, it is a challenge to achieve this xx

All clothing from Topshop, 8ball.com and Primark.

Hope you are all enjoying the new fashion season, I love the transition between fashion seasons, it always means a new look and inspires new ways to wear your old wardrobe in a new way! Get inspired! Thanks for reading fashionistas.

Primark Sunday & How No Debutante wears it - Autumn Winter 2014

As any regular to the No Debutante blog will know, twice a year I take a visit to Primark to see what they have available for the new season. Today we are looking at what I purchased from the AW 2014 range.
I usually have an idea of what I need or what I would like to find from the ridiculously low priced, high fashion items that Primark has to offer. I had collected alot of Pinterest images of oversized, grungy jumpers and since I already own loads of oversized cardigans, it was definitely time for a change. The jumper I found was a lovely mint green knit in the softest and most un-itchy wool ever, I say wool, without looking it is probably a polyester imitation wool, but I ain't caring, this jumper rocks it! It is so cosy and cuddly and big, it's perfect for winter, worn alone or layered over dresses, this jumper is great! Speaking of dresses, you are aware of my current obsession with smock dresses right? And of course my love affair with grunge?  Well, howsabout a plaid smock style dress? Yes, please! This dress came in two colourways (that I could find) and I even sent my husband Phil a photograph of the dresses together (see below) to ask him which one I should buy. (Phil is used to this sort of thing) I (we) decided on the red check dress since I already have a blue plaid smock dress from The White Pepper. The Primark smock dress is more grunge than baby doll, it kinda hangs like a shirt and lacks the volume of the White Pepper smock but that cool, it's different. Now? How to finish this look? Shoes....I have been crying over all the amazing but ridiculously high priced, platform style ankle boots that have been around for about a year on the high street but needed something not too high to wear during the day ( I walk alot!) then I stumble upon these platform Chelsea boot style beauties at Primark for £15. I tried them on, fell in love and chucked them in the wheelie trolley without a moments hesitation. Job done! Three great items for under £50 including shoes. Good Ol' Primark!
I totally rate Primark, it never let's me down. I think the key to a successful Primark shop is to limit the amount of times you visit per year, have a plan, a budget and a time limit and most importantly try it all on!

Keep up to date with No Debutante on all these social networking sites (blogger, Istagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr) and check out how I mix and match my new Primark items over the next few months.

Here are three ways I've worn it so far. Which is your favourite??

All clothing from Primark!
