I'm all about the prints

This past week has been filled with prints from leopard print, 90s style aztecs, memphis squiggles and my new favourite polka-dots. Here's how No Debutante wears 'em.

Spots and stripes with vintage Adidas

Leopard print with silver Reeboks

Print clashing with 90s Aztec Kuccia bomber, Polka-dot shorts from Monki and Memphis vibes in Tezla Designs earrings

Style Obsession! The oversized shirt

No Debutante is still in love with the Oversized shirt!

With a penchant for eighties oversizing and prints, the fascination with the oversized shirt had always been there, then one of my fave brands Lazy Oaf started creating some amazing versions in the generously oversized shapes I craved, nobody could compete with Lazy Oaf's shirts....but then....Monki, I confess, I'm hooked, are churning them out on a bi-weekly bases and at really great prices and sizes that fit all.

There was still a prominant gap in the market for larger girls to be able to get plus size garms with the oversizing style they wanted too. One of my close friends is a size 18 and is literally buzzing about the Monki oversized shirts fitting her the way they fit me (I'm a size 12 but always wear bigger sizes and often mens tops) Monki really have changed things for the plus sized fashionista!

I understand why Lazy Oaf garms only come in three sizes, they are an independent and despite the garms being more expensive than Monki's cheap as chips fashion gems, they are limited editions, plus their size large is actually pretty large but I wouldn't go as far to say it would definitely fit a size 18.

The battle goes on between the high street and the independents, Lazy Oaf were certainly doing the generous oversizing thing first but let's not feel too sorry for them just yet. In terms of resale Lazy garms are so sought after, due to their limited edition drops and mass international following, that you could sell on your worn Lazy Oaf items for more than you paid for them originally. Shame the independents aren't making that return for themselves eh? Perhaps this is why the prices for the latest drops of Lazy Oaf goodies are rising, the indies need to get some of those rewards for themselves somehow and there is certainly a market for it!

Where else can you source some oversized shirt goodness?? Vintage and thrift/charity shops have loads of oversized mens shirts available, try on the biggest sizes and play around with it. Pinstripes are looking to be a big thing over the next year too, so roll the sleeves up and style it out! This style is for the boys too not just the grrrls!

I just love oversized shirts, all printed up with a contemporary graphic worn either buttoned all the way up or undone and layered over another top. Wear yours with leggings, jeans or if it's long enough, as a dress with tights this winter or some cute culottes (yes, culottes are not just for the summer! But, that's another story for another day...).

However you wear it, wear it big, it's a great investment that will see you right through to spring.

Spring fashion round up

Fashion season is in full swing here in Bristol, with so many fashion events happening over the past month from new collections, fashion shows, pop-up shops and fashion salvage's, it's been fun, fun, fun for this fashionista!

With new fashion events come new fashion goodies and with new fashion goodies comes No Debutante needing some of these new fashion goodies to wear and share with you lovely lot.

From fashion goodies by local designers to a random Dr Marten obsession (it just kinda crept up on me...) mixed with the usual No Debutante print clashing, sportswear-loving, layer obsessing, oversized styling, fashion mash-up in bold bright colours from tomboy cool to girlie cute. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree

Back in September I wrote a post about the ethical fashion childrenswear brand Rockin' Baby. Well we (my daughter Sylvie and I) were lucky enough to get a chance to check out the latest Autumn/ winter collection and created this Christmas inspired photoshoot. The range is a mix of cute florals and prints, retro 70s inspired influences and cuddly pieces for your little one this Christmas and remember with every Rockin' Baby item of clothing you buy an item of clothing is donated to a child in need around the world. It's all good stuff!

Sylvie just loved the cuddly boho faux fur pink gilet, she loves dressing up in animal costumes so this was perfect for her!
She also chose the Foxy Pyjamas as she calls them with the fox embroidery and the cutest retro style matching foxy print PJ bottoms. The PJs are also styled up as a top in the photoshoot below, you know how I like to mix and match. I'm not regimented by when a certain item of clothing should be worn after all!
I just love the retro style Spanish inspired  dress with it's bolero effect shoulders & embroidery details, its so sweet and looks adorable on, it also made from a soft cotton jersey and is a great play dress that's warm, practical and pretty.
The blooming gorgeous floral print soft mesh skirt with ruffled layers is just perfect to wear as a play skirt or to a Christmas party, clothing doesn't last long with kids so they need to have multiple purposes to get the wear out of them!

The final outfit was styled up by Sylvie, influenced by her Mum she went the whole way with non-conformist fashion and wore the pajama bottoms with the Spanish inspired play dress and cuddly gilet! That's my girl!

Thanks to Rockin' Baby and Rachel Burrows PR

All clothing by Rockin' Baby with exception of the tights from H&M and boots from Dr Martens.

Be There or Be Square Daddio...

Today's post has morphed from a how I wear separates post to a full on plaids post and finally came to a sensible two outfit post about plaid skirts worn No Debutante style. As you can see I am not particular about the length or my plaid skirts and today's post features a punk inspired mini skirt from Topshop and a 1950s midi circle skirt both from Topshop concession Loving Youth. I like both skirts the same and have randomly chosen to wear them with my white Sonic Youth tee, I hadn't even noticed this until just a second ago! I wear my tee tucked into my skirts to accentuate the waist which is the most flattering way to wear it in my opinion.
The (first) instagram image of the short plaid skirt is the very first personal style fashion image I have taken where you could see my brand new Russian Doll tattoo! I am so please with my lovely tattoo and will put up a post about my tattoos very soon, so watch this space if you are a Trad Tatt Fan!

Although the plaid midi skirt is cut from a 1950s pattern, I have worn it with my Dr Martens to make the look more nineties grunge inspired. Midi skirts were very popular in the 1970s too so we have a real Modern Vintage Fash Clash on our hands with this look! Everything I love!

All clothing from Topshop Concessions, Dr Martens, Primark and Urban Outfitters.
