I'm going out dancing.....February Fashion moments

There seems to be a theme for February which features either dresses or denim. It has been freezing here in Bristol so I am totally faking the bare arms look just for the photographs! I cannot even imagine going outside wearing no tights or in a short sleeve, hot weather is a distant memory to me.
My complexion suffers too, during the winter months I go a healthy shade of jaundice and need to smother my face with bright make-up to stop me from appearing, well.....dead!
Here's what I have been wearing this month.

Monochrome with red

 Double Denim layers

1970s tight tees and denim midi

I love my cute new Topshop dress with peep hole front detail and vintage style Hawaiian print.
Peep hole dresses and crop tops are totally wearable at the moment (if you ignore the cold British weather that is) as you are baring your torso rather than your belly button, your highwaister skirt, jeans, shorts should be covering that area up! This is not the 1990s midriff and hipster exposure, we do not want to see a muffin top, it still needs to be flattering! Try this look out, you may be surprised. If you don't fancy the dress, tie up your shirt or a top a little, we only need to see a flash of skin but remember, no hipsters or belly buttons, it's highwaisters all the way.

My outfit for the Bang 10th Birthday Party (a post to come very soon) I wore a belt with the Louise Gray dress on this occasion as it made it more flattering. I got so many compliments about the dress and other comments about how the strategically placed stars made people want to HONK my boobs, yes, I said HONK!!

The day after the night before, I was feeling surprisingly well here and was about to go and pick up my kids from my parents house. I'm still wearing these Dr Martens in, I love them, despite the pain!
All clothing from H&M, American Apparel, Rock Candy at Office,Topshop, Louise Gray at Topshop,Super Lovers-Japan, Vivienne of Holloway, Dr Martens, Primark,Charity and Army Surplus stores, Underground at Office. All styling by No Debutante.
One last thing, yes, I have been messing about with fonts,I get bored easily and work with graphic designers who will notice and be annoyed with my careless font choices! Sorry! So many fonts so little time!

Grow Grow Grow!!!

As you probably know by now, I have been painfully growing out an undercut for over a year. In hope that you feel my pain I am being brave and showing you how my hair looks down, with no styling, which I never do. The reason being my hair currently resembles a mullet! Now, about 10 years ago I confidently pulled off a mullet hairstyle but it ain't happening now, no way! The reason I have the mullet is that I have been encouraged to keep growing my hair fully, by my lovely hairstylist Vikki Mac and not to cut it into a one lengthed bob, (which would be the obvious mid length haircut choice) as the sides are still not very long and my hair would still look like a short style -which I do not want! I like to give (myself) the illusion of longer hair....Oh, the possibilities!!!
Here are some photos of my hair down and how I style my hair to make it look better! I have followed a few tutorials on youtube on how to style up short hair into 1950s / rockabilly styles, all you need to know is backcombing is your friend!
Uh oh! Here come's the mullet!

(not straightened and due a cut)

( a bit of backcombing and many hairgrips later)

I just twist the ends up and pin the hair in place using hairgrips quite randomly, we are not after perfection here but it still needs to stay up and manages to look good.

Add a headscarf and after backcombing the fringe until its massive I then smooth it down a little and victory roll it up! Easy!

My head is pretty small so I need alot of volume in there to keep the headscarf in place, I backcomb the whole head!

The above photos were taken after a visit to Vikki Mac for a trim, my usual platinum colour followed by a peach toner this time!
Vikki had also straightened my hair and  insisted I wear it down in this style as this hair worn behind the ear look is very cool at the moment........I'm still seeing mullet!
However, the colour is cool and it's a vast improvement on the top images!!

Here's the peach toner rocked up into the victory roll and clashing up marvellously with my pink headscarf and the Louise Gray dress! I performed in the Bang Band after this photo was taken.....but that's another story!
Hope you enjoyed this post of the good and the bad hair moments from No Debutante. I hope you are inspired to style up your hair!?
Expect lots of my latest fashion moments from the next post. Enjoy your hair! ND xx

No Debutante and Mark Sewell Photography Collaboration No 2 -Part 3 Real Wild Child

I have to apologise with the lack of posts of late, for once it has nothing to do with illness, I have been real busy planning my club night Bang's big 10th year Birthday party which might I say was an amazing success last Saturday night!! It wasn't just arranging the event that took up my time it was the rehearsing for the Bang Band which forms once every 5 years to celebrate Bangs more significant birthdays and I also made a Bangzine (Bang's fanzine) which features all the photographs that I have taken over the past 5 years, there is also a previous Bangzine which celebrates the first 5 years. Its great to see all the different faces and fashions that happened at my little club night over the past 10 years, I'm so happy we have evidence that it has happened!! I promise to do some posts with all my favourite Bang pics very soon!
OK,  so yeah, I've been busy, so busy that I haven't managed to show you the last part in the most recent photoshoot collaboration between No Debutante and Mark Sewell Photography.
Part 3 has been named Real Wild Child due to the overload of faux animal print and fur that feature in the shoot. It wasn't planned, I had taken along the bodycon tiger print dress and wanted to show off my new fur coat bought in the Topshop sale.
The photos, for me, have come out looking like a mash up between Jerry Hall late 1970s early 80s glamour, punk and those girls in the Happy Mondays video for Kinky Afro, some people say they were prostitutes, but who am I to judge, let's say their look is very early 1990s glam, whatever, I am happy with the result.

I've gotta go because the baby has woken up but I thought I would leave you with this. Hope it works??

No Debutante and Mark Sewell Photography Collaboration No 2 -Part 2 Fade To Gray

Hey Hey! It's Part 2 of the most recent No Debutante and Mark Sewell Photography collaboration!!! It turns out there are so many great photographs that this will infact be a three parter! Whoop! Whoop!
The inspiration behind this next set of images come from my new favourite designer Louise Gray....who I have mentioned here, once.. maybe twice....ahem! I am a very lucky girl who recieved a dress for Christmas from my amazers husband Phil from the Louise Gray designer collection for Topshop!!!! I love this dress with all it's sparkles and it's happy face!!! Just perfect for a moody Mum of three!
Mark and I really took advantage of the studio for this part of the shoot, inspired by Louise Gray's promo shots for the Topshop range, the lighting and white back drop worked out really well. Some of the images have been photoshopped to make them jump out at you at bit more (quite literally in some of the shots) but I have decided to use some of the shots as they were taken with background umbrellas in etc as I am creating a personal style blog here and don't want to lose my own look and style with bright lights and airbrushing!!! See what you think. This shoot is much more playful and colourful from the more classic retro images of the previous shoot. Enjoy!

I'm off to practise for the Bang Band! Watch this space for more exciting info on that!!! ND xx

Bang - Your New Favourite Club

My club night Bang is about to turn 10 years old in a couple of weeks and to celebrate this amazing event we are putting on a massive Birthday Party with all the fun of the riotous Bang affair plus photo displays, the Bangzine and the return of the Bang Band (last seen at the 5th Bang Birthday party back in 2008).
Here are some photos from the last Bang event back in November 2012 which took place at our new home upstairs at The Stag and Hounds in Bristol alongside our fellow club night Dirty Casino (downstairs).
All images courtesy of Bang and Mark Sewell Photography

As we say at Bang.....It's time to kick out the jams!!
