Midi System

Another favourite skirt length of No Debutante's is the Midi skirt or in this case the 1950s circle skirt. When I purchased my first circle skirt I was well involved in the whole modern vintage / rockabilly look and I had only planned to wear it as a 1950s vintage item matched with 1950s gypsy tops and bustiers for the full blown fifties look. After a while I realised I wanted to wear the skirt more often than for my random vintage summer days and needed to move the circle skirt into the autumn and to fit my more contemporary but haphazard street style wardrobe. I started wearing my circle skirts with tucked in tees, crop tops and even mashed up in a grunge layered style which works well especially in the colder months.

Today you can see a few months worth of circle skirt outfits worn No Debutante style showing you how I wear my circle skirts all year round. Expect fashion mash ups and get inspired.

My circle skirts are from Vivien of Holloway (Day of the Dead print) and Loving Youth X Topshop (plaid print). Modern Vintage Queens Vivien of Holloway have an endless supply of beautiful 1950s circle skirts and it's cool to see Loving Youth remade vintage is still available at Topshop concessions too!

Be There or Be Square Daddio...

Today's post has morphed from a how I wear separates post to a full on plaids post and finally came to a sensible two outfit post about plaid skirts worn No Debutante style. As you can see I am not particular about the length or my plaid skirts and today's post features a punk inspired mini skirt from Topshop and a 1950s midi circle skirt both from Topshop concession Loving Youth. I like both skirts the same and have randomly chosen to wear them with my white Sonic Youth tee, I hadn't even noticed this until just a second ago! I wear my tee tucked into my skirts to accentuate the waist which is the most flattering way to wear it in my opinion.
The (first) instagram image of the short plaid skirt is the very first personal style fashion image I have taken where you could see my brand new Russian Doll tattoo! I am so please with my lovely tattoo and will put up a post about my tattoos very soon, so watch this space if you are a Trad Tatt Fan!

Although the plaid midi skirt is cut from a 1950s pattern, I have worn it with my Dr Martens to make the look more nineties grunge inspired. Midi skirts were very popular in the 1970s too so we have a real Modern Vintage Fash Clash on our hands with this look! Everything I love!

All clothing from Topshop Concessions, Dr Martens, Primark and Urban Outfitters.

How I Wear......Circle Midi Skirts

Hey Hey! Bloggers and Fashionistas. Hope you had a great weekend? Mine, of course, was rammed with events including a 40th Birthday Party, a wedding party in another city, lots of catching up with old friends and a fun filled time at my club night Bang!! Yes, I am tired but there is always time for a bit of blogging!!

Today I am sharing my love for Circle Midi Skirts. I have always loved them and for Christmas my lovely husband Phil bought me one from my favourite vintage shop Vivien Of Holloway, which you may have seen me wear on my blog before. Since then I have found a second skirt, this time in tartan and from the Topshop concessions label,Loving Youth. I got it for about £11 in the Topshop Spring sale, MEGA BARGAIN!

My only dilemma was how I would wear my Circle skirts? I have circle skirt dresses which are very glamorous and 1950s retro but I want to wear my circle skirts during the day too, dressed down. So, in my aim to make all items of clothing work for any occasion, I have Modern Vintaged the Circle Midi Skirt up in a dressed down style. On these occasions my chosen footwear is a trusty ol' pair of Converse with a sleeveless shirt tied at the waist or a crop top, I found this is the best way to emphasis the waist with these Midi Skirt beauties. Do not forget to emphasis the waist! A circle skirt will emphasis the hips and bottom so you need to nip in the waist to make the look more flattering, a tucked in top would work for the less brave! Now go out there and get yourself a Circle Midi skirt, they are all over the high street, so no excuses!

Thanks so much for following and reading my blog and I hope to be back tomorrow with more fashion fun!
