Retro Denim

No Debutante Loves Denim Jackets. Whether layered up grunge style with oversized tees, cute denim waistcoats over pretty dresses or preppy modern vintage 1940s jeans, the denim jacket is the perfect transitional jacket and can be worn over jumpers or under larger jackets and coats, you cant go wrong.
How about a denim coat? These were all over Topshop last winter but mine is an original from the 1970s which I bought in the Bristol vintage shop Uncle Sams during the  nineties. I found the Wrangler denim jacket in a charity shop (also in the nineties) it is oversized, faded and frayed and this is from general usage not a mass produced customised style that the high street might churn out. In contrast to the mass produced denims check out the plaid / denim mix oversized shirt  upcycled by the Bristol upcycle queens Fix Up Look Sharp, giving a new look to an old denim shirt. The denim waistcoat is from Primark and is a cute alternative and really looks great layered over my smock dresses. Get wearing those vintage denim jackets fashionistas xx

All clothing from Uncle Sams, UK charity shops, Fix Up Look Sharp, Primark, Maui and sons, Dr Martens, Freddies of Pinewood, H&M, The White Pepper and Topshop.

Denim Daze

I wear a lot of denim in every guise, here are few recent personal style pics of some of my denim favourites.......Of course my dungarees are in this post! Dungarees are super cool in the summer worn with a vest top and sandals or layered up with jackets and tees. I have had this denim waistcoat for years and I love wearing it layered over dresses. I do own other dresses, this one just seems to be a favourite at the moment! In fact, I wore a lovely new dress today which will make it's debut on Instagram and my facebook page over the next few days! Please could I take this moment to direct you over to my No Debutante Facebook page and to follow me on Instagram for daily fashion updates! Please follow me if you like what you see!

No Debutante - Glasto Envy?

I'm sat at home watching Glastonbury on the TV, although I am not really that bothered about going, I don't like to think that I am missing out, I do this to myself every year, to be honest, I think I am actually quite happy watching it on TV! It will also pain anyone who isn't from the UK and would actually like to go to Glastonbury, to know that my hometown Bristol is less than an hour away from Glastonbury festival, how lazy am I?? I also get a romantic idea about taking my three kids along for the Glastonbury experience, to watch bands and run about like Ferrell children but the chaotic reality of this really isn't worth thinking about!

Not to be outdone by festival outfits, I dressed up rockabilly style with my Topshop Hawaii print peephole dress, denim waistcoat, creepers and flowers in my hair. I did wear tights today and it was boiling hot, bloody typical!

I may not blog tomorrow due to having to take seven little boys to the cinema for Lucian's birthday. I did consider not dressing up too weird so I did't embarrass the kids on this birthday outing but where's the fun in that?? Find out what I wore very soon!

Thanks for reading.

No Debutante - I really don't have time but I do it anyway...

I had a tiring day at work today so this will be a brief post. I will let you know I have ordered a new dress for the next wedding on my list, I have four to attend this year!! I am looking forward to receiving the new dress and hope it is a good as it looks! We have had a fashion faux pas with a khaki bomber jacket that Phil bought me for my birthday, it is sooooo padded that I look more like night club security than street cool and as I am already fairly broad in the shoulders and tall I do not want to look any bigger! We have sent the jacket back twice and they are all too big, this is the problem with Internet shopping, you cannot try before you buy and you spend a small fortune returning the item when it isn't what you want!! If anyone knows where I can get an original style bomber jacket without the sleeping bag padding then do let me know!!

Today I am showing you my outfits from yesterday and today - Yey! I have finally caught up with my personal style pics!  Yesterday I wore (first outfit) My lace/denim panel Primark shirt with denim cut offs and Dr Martens and girled it up with  big hair, half clipped up into random victory rolls and twists. I was asked on the school run how I had time to do my hair in the morning?? The answer is I really don't have time but I do it anyway and I really am quite quick at those victory rolls these days, if you are really serious about styling your hair in these sorts of styles everyday you need to not wash your hair too often so that the backcombing and the texture in your hair holds the style in easier. You must be prepared to backcomb your hair alot and use serums to keep your hair in good condition, I guarantee that you will then perfect the victory rolls and beehives you have been attempting!!

For the second outfit (today's) I have tied up a shirt Daisy Duke style and worn it with my pleated maxi, denim waistcoat and Converse. I have given myself a Betty Bangs style fringe and left the back down. I am willing my hair to get longer so I can twist and curl the back rockabilly style, it's still a bit short but I am getting there! I have noticed my look is missing a few tattoos, I really must get it together and get inked up!!

What will I wear tomorrow? Will my new dress for the wedding arrive? Does the bomber jacket I want actually exist?? Is it possible for me to write a quick brief post? Find out the answers and much more, next time, with me, No Debutante.

Thank you so much for reading!!!

No Debutante - Short Circuit

I am sorry for the lack of posts over the past couple of days but I have been busy with birthdays, leaving parties and hangovers!! I did manage to get my images for this post cropped last night but that was pretty much all I was capable of, so today the post shall consist of less taking and more imagery!

It appears that I have been all about showing off the legs these last couple of days, wearing short skirts and denim cut offs, I have boyed them up a bit Dr Martens, creepers and little tee’s and the hair is up and wrapped in headscarfs.

That's it from me for today, I shall hopefully be back tomorrow with more fashion fun! Have a great weekend!

No Debutante - Bournemouth Rock

I am currently in the process of finding the best way to create blog posts on the go, using my smart phone. Since I have joined Instagram and the newly found (thanks to fellow blogger Sian from Style With Friends) WIWT (What I Wore Today) both of these Apps allow me to instantly crop and post my outfit pics moments after I have taken them. I am supposed to be able to do this on Blogger but, I am not having much success as the images appear to take forever to upload and also you cannot crop images on Blogger or choose where you want them to go. I probably need to check out some info sites to find out more tricks and shortcuts to do stuff using a Smart phone but everything seems so much more complicated using the Blogger App than using Instagram or WIWT. It just isn't instant enough! I need to get used to using my blog as an instant tool rather than a more planned out and designed written piece of work. Although I do prefer to spend more time on my posts there are two reasons to be able to create easy, instant blog posts.
1) I do not have enough time for the longer detailed posts every day
2) I get so much more positive recognition and interest from both Instagram and WIWT on my daily personal style outfits over my blog and Pinterest put together.
The conclusion is that I will continue to write the more detailed blog posts but when time is short or when I am out and about, an instant post is deffo the way to go!

The following outfits were worn over the Bank Holiday weekend in Bristol and Bournemouth here in the UK. There was a lot of travelling and rushing about involved so I went for casual looks with lots of denim!! I am showing you two of the looks today and two more tomorrow. I did attempt to post this yesterday evening (whilst staying with friends) on my Smart phone with not much success!! More practise is needed....and a more efficient App!!

Find out more of what I have been wearing and some exciting WIWT news tomorrow!! Don't forget to check out my Instagram and WIWT posts (links on my blog homepage) for instant daily looks from me, No Debutante!!

Thanks for reading and hello to my new followers xx
