Hey Babe, Your Hair's Alright....

It's time to catch up with No Debutante's latest hairstyles and updos. My hairdresser Vikki Mac told me off for leaving too big a gap between my last hair posts so we'd better get on with it.

The images start with a freshly coloured mermaid blue mane, backcombed at the crown and worn down with only a hair grip or two to hold the bouffant in place. I am loving the sixties and early seventies long hair styles at the moment especially bouffanted looks, the bigger the better I say.

A topknot bun worn pinned in place or with a headscarf wrapped around the bun are both looks I have worn quite often lately, I do not wear a bun doughnut as I don't really like the hair to look too done and the headscarf gives the illusion of thicker hair, I have fine hair but there's lots of it so it actually backcombs a treat which is handy!

I also love to wear my hair naturally waved by braiding my hair. I came across the predicament of trying to keep my hair dry during my morning shower to achieve the 'just taken my hair out of braids look' I didn't find a shower cap that useful (or glamorous for that matter) so I wrap my head up in a towel and attempt to stop my lovely dry and ready to wave braids getting wet.....One single drop of water on the braids on my fine straight hair will ruin any hopes of a natural wave being achieved! I am, of course, striving for the Daryl Hannah in Splash mermaid wave but alas I am probably asking a bit much.

I still pop my hair up into a rockabilly victory roll and head scarf updo every now and again but I had to try and reduce down the amount of backcombing my hair was getting, mixed with all the bleaching (my hair is platinum blond under the mermaid blue) my hair just refuses to grow. Also, being the fickle fashionista that I am I have slowly moved on, another day, another look...

Lastly on today's post is the half up half down hair look. This has been a very popular look with me for the past few months but bizarrely I don't have that many images to show you! My favourite of these looks is the half up topknot and I am also rather partial of wearing low bunches worn long and slightly backcombed at the root. Not really holding back on the backcombing am I? Which is your favourite look?

Modern Vintage Denim

I own a lot of vintage denim, mainly replicas from the 1940s and 1950s era. I buy my vintage denim from Vivien Of Holloway and Freddies of Pinewood and although I do like to wear the full vintage look, I am not dedicated to it, I'm too fickle to stick to one look. I like to experiment with mixing the contemporary and skate / sportsluxe looks with vintage styles just to keep thing fresh, but I will occasionally dive into the full vintage look.

Today I have four (yes, four!) looks to show you with a modern vintage vibe, expect rockabilly, skate wear, sports styling, double denim, grunge, 1940s land girl style and a bovver bomber jacket all worn with vintage cut denim jeans and dungarees.

All clothing from Vivien Of Holloway, Freddies Of Pinewood, Topshop, Vision Streetwear, Primark, H&M, Dr Martens, Converse and Thrift shops.

Thanks for following. No Debutante shall be back with more fashionista fun very soon.

Hey Babe, Your Hair's Alright....

With my holiday to Ibiza really close and a load of packing to consider, I thought I would catch up with you guys and show you a few more of my my recent hairstyles and updo's whilst I still have the time. I have recently had my hair coloured with even more blues and greens, perfect mermaid colours for the summer, but you shall have to wait until I reveal my beautiful mermaid hair! Here a few examples from June, the weather was getting warmer and plaits and braids seemed the way to go and, of course, a victory roll! I hope you have been practising and experimenting with your updo's ladies?? Remember it doesn't have to be perfect. You guys just need to rock the 1950s quiff, more rockabilly tough than Essex pretty boy please.
Which is your favourite?

Thanks for joining me and I hope to catch up real soon for more fashion fun! Enjoy the sunshine!

How to wear a shirt No Debutante style!

After a lovely long and busy Bank Holiday I am back with another personal style post. This week I have two sick children  and an obsession with listing items to sell on eBay,  it's free listings weekend and I believe it's healthy to declutter your life and try and make some money out of it! I may have also become obsessed with bidding on vintage toys and, so far, spent more than I make but hopefully all that will change with my mass of items currently available on eBay!! Won't it?

Today's personal style post feature three ways I wear a shirt.

The first being rockabilly and modern vintage influenced tied at the waist and worn with 1950s jeans and a victory roll.

The second a more minimal look with the sleeveless denim shirt buttoned all the way up and practically worn as a (very short) dress with creepers.

The third look is more grunge influenced with a nod to the western cowboy look, unfortunately the full body shots were too dark to use, but I think you get the picture.

All looks finished off with my freshly coloured pink and blue hair that My Little Pony would be jealous of!

Thanks so much for reading and a big welcome to my new followers xx

Rainbow Bright

Hey hey! Today we are looking at a day in the life of yours truly, I am dressed up with my victory rolled updo with flower accessory, a cute Peter Pan collar dress and the signature frilly ankle socks and Converse. I wore this cute modern vintage look to work and then after making sure my children were fed and watered and my husband Phil tag teamed me for the child care swap, I had an appointment to get my hair coloured by the lovely Vikki Mac (so yes, these photographs were taken a few days before the Dilly Debutante fashion shoot from yesterdays post). I have been growing my hair for nearly two and a half years, it has been a hard slog for two reasons the first being, I had to grow out an extreme undercut and secondly, my hair grows soooooo slowly, I am sure all the bleaching and backcombing that I put it through doesn't help but come on, give a girl a break!!!??

I had decided to add more blue to my colour on this occasion, but which blue? Vikki Mac brought out four or five options to choose from, which only added to my colour dilemma. I really would like a mermaid green but since I am still adding a lot of pink to my hair, I thought I would go for more bolder blues on this occassion. I think we went for Crazy Colour Peacock and Sky Blue in the end. I love the finished result and I still look like My Little Pony which is my main aim in life, perhaps I shall become brave enough to go for the Mermaid greeny blue the next time I get my hair coloured, which is only a couple of weeks away?? Rock Around The Clock

I am finally catching up with my personal style pics and I am proud to say I am now only a month behind! The idea that I could be blogging about the outfit that I have just worn has seemed an impossibility to me up until now, it would have helped if I hadn't taken so many daily photos of literally every outfit I have worn over the past few years of blogging but I have calmed this down now and with double outfit posts (to help catch up) I can actually see a light at the end of the tunnel! My plan is to keep writing weekly personal style posts but to have more time for other current obsessions and fashion favourites.
My Pinterest boards and Instagram photographs are way ahead of my blog, obviously this is because they are both so instant and no writing and cropping is involved but I would like the blog to try and keep up as I love writing it and don't want to have to leave it behind!

Today's outfits are both Modern Vintage, the first rockabilly outfit was worn on a lovely day out in Bath, UK with some of my bestest friends and it features mix prints and layering, I do like a double collar! The hair is styled into a victory roll with plaits.
The second outfit features some colour blocking worn with a maxi skirt and a Land Grrrll head scarf. For Victory!! Frilly ankle socks and Converse finish both outfits.

Which is your favourite outfit? Do you follow me on Pinterest and Instagram too? Are blogs getting left behind?? Share your thoughts xx

Thanks for reading! I shall be back very soon with a No Debutante collaboration with my good friend and fellow blogger Dilly Foxtrot Investigates on her new creative venture! Watch this space!!

One Girl One Boy!!!

In a contradiction to my girlie side, I generally managed to boy up a lot of my looks by wearing clothing inspired by men's fashion, I have always been a bit of a tomboy as I have mentioned before and I do love a bit of androgyny. In today's personal style pics I have gone the whole way and just worn one of my husband Phil' shirts. I'm not sure whether he likes me wearing his clothes or not but he can be very aloof about these things.....so I just wore it anyway. I did ask at least!

I thought the shirt looked great with my whole outfit which consisted of my bright yellow Gang Of Four tee, denim cut offs, ankle socks and creepers. I made the look a little bit more femme with a lovely pink victory roll and flower in my hair.

For more of a Riot Grrrl look I wore a Fred Perry polo with denim shorts , American Apparel socks, Dr Martens and a quiff. Both looks were popular on Instagram which was cool.

The last image shows of a fantastic flash of my blue hair, even I didn't know it looked like that until I took the photo. I really love my rainbow hair! See, I am pretty girlie really....

No Debutante - Brrrrrr! Furrrrrr!

Hey hey! After a lovely weekend with my ladies visiting the Bath Thermae Spa (and queueing up no less than an hour, in the freezing cold, to do so, might I add) followed by Italian food and many drinks I am actually feeling knackered rather than relaxed (we fitted in a lot during the spa day) so I am going to attempt to finish a blog post before I fall asleep!

I had a fashion dilemma today, I had purchased some jeans from Topshop, first pair of jeans bought in about two years (due to my fussy nature with jeans, but that's another story). So, I finally find a pair I like in Topshop, it's the Mom jeans, slight high waist, tapered leg but not too slim, it's as close as I have come to a slim leg jean in about three years....So, very excited about the new jeans, put them on, wear them on the school run....before I could even get a photograph of me in them for the blog, my lovely little terror Sylvie squashed a big juicy, painted hand print on my leg! I knew I shouldn't have got the paints out! So, I am now sat wearing my trusted VOH 1950s jeans and hoping that the paint comes out of the Mom jeans! Waaaaa!! You never know I might get a photograph of them one day!

Moving on to today's personal style pics, here are a few ways I wear Fur. I love faux fur coats and don't own nearly enough in my opinion. I get very annoyed on a rainy day when I cannot wear my fur coats because I have to push Sylvie's buggy...You can't hold an umbrella and push a buggy, believe me I have tried. A day doesn't go by here in the UK without rain these days. It completely dictates my outfit and I hate it! Sometimes I just think f**k it, I'm wearing my fur in the rain, I don't care! As you can imagine, it doesn't end well! So here are the photos of me and my furs, enjoy!
