Me and My Freddies

OK Britain....Where has the sun gone? Just as I am getting excited about the possibility of not having to wear tights for a few months the sun disappears and the wind and rain arrive!! I have decided to keep my pins wrapped up for a bit longer and what else could be better than my Freddies of Pinewood 1940s style wide leg jeans and dungarees? I love the cut of these Freddies Jeans and although I am more of a modern vintage girl rather than a full on vintage top to toe devotee, I love mixing and matching my Freddies up with the rest of the items from my wardrobe. Whether it's a rockabilly tomboy look with creepers and a plaid shirt, a nautical look with striped tees and pumps, paired up with oversized skate tees or a boho kimono layered over Freddies dungarees...... I love my Freddies and this is how I wear them.

One Girl One Boy!!!

In a contradiction to my girlie side, I generally managed to boy up a lot of my looks by wearing clothing inspired by men's fashion, I have always been a bit of a tomboy as I have mentioned before and I do love a bit of androgyny. In today's personal style pics I have gone the whole way and just worn one of my husband Phil' shirts. I'm not sure whether he likes me wearing his clothes or not but he can be very aloof about these things.....so I just wore it anyway. I did ask at least!

 

I thought the shirt looked great with my whole outfit which consisted of my bright yellow Gang Of Four tee, denim cut offs, ankle socks and creepers. I made the look a little bit more femme with a lovely pink victory roll and flower in my hair.

 

For more of a Riot Grrrl look I wore a Fred Perry polo with denim shorts , American Apparel socks, Dr Martens and a quiff. Both looks were popular on Instagram which was cool.

 

The last image shows of a fantastic flash of my blue hair, even I didn't know it looked like that until I took the photo. I really love my rainbow hair! See, I am pretty girlie really....

No Debutante - Teddy Boys and Rockabilly Belles

I love 1950's inspired styling, I am also a bit of a tomboy so I like to be inspired by both the rockabilly pin up style and the more androgynous Teddy Boy inspired side of rockabilly (when  I am in the rockabilly mood that is). Despite my tomboy ways I also love dressing up, doing my hair and generally being girlie and enjoy mixing everything up never setting out to be more boyish or more girlie, it just kind of happens that way.

Today's personal style post is a perfect example of the two ways I wear 1950s inspired outfits and show off my tomboy and girlie sides. Which one do you prefer?

No Debutante - The Clash

Three weeks on am I am still living in an upside down house where half of my kitchen is still in the living room/ lounge making things impossible to keep tidy and even more impossible to find!! So is the chaos that surrounds me!! This would be one of the reasons why I have been behind with my blog posting and even more behind in catching up with all the bloggers I follow! I have also taken a back seat with the daily fashion photos due to the fact that there are builders in my house and I don't really want them to see me taking my personal style photographs! I'm sure my personal style confuses them enough on a  daily bases without my flauting it in their faces with constant selfies!

Today's personal style pics show that I am not afraid to clash and mix up prints and colours, if you are a regular reader of my blog then you will already know this. I wore both of these outfits to work and I love it that I can now wear my jackets again since the weather has got cooler. I have had the H&M leopard print fur since Lucian was a baby (he is now 9 years old) and it is a classic part of my wardrobe that just keeps on giving! On this occasion I have paired it with a rockin' skull tee, denim cut offs and my favourite Dr Martens (I have other pairs but these are just so worn in and comfy that I can't stop wearing them!). 

I had caught sight of myself in a shop window on my stomp to work and realised how outrageous I looked with my pink hair, pink sunglasses and my pink headphones clashing up a treat with my leopard print coat. I had to laugh to myself and took a quick photo on my phone so I could show you guys the extreme of my possibly, out of control, accessorising! Love it!

The following day I was inspired by the 1990s and Bjork and popped my hair up into a style that was a bit of a regular for me during the 1990s when I was a teenager. This time I like those Bjork Buns even more in my pink hair! I went for a bit more print clashing with camouflage and Breton stripes worn with denim cut offs again, ankle socks and creepers. The look was both a mix of cute and tomboy style. Business as usual!

No Debutante - Girls who are boys who like boys to be girls...

Today's outfits are showing two different sides of my style the first is a casual tomboy style in Topshop dungarees, New Look crop top and leopard print Converse with hair kept simple. In the second outfit I am wearing my cute Peter Pan collar dress from Primark with preppy Converse and frilly ankle socks with my hair worn in a small beehive 1960s style with a head scarf (of course) Head scarves are actually a great thing to put in to hid the sections of hair in between the backcombing and the loose front layers (or victory rolls) it can hid a multitude of hair errors!! I am not perfect!

The next post shall feature what I wore (and others wore) to my work mate Abbie's wedding a couple of  weeks ago. Expect more 1950s wedding style!!
