Modern Vintage Denim

I own a lot of vintage denim, mainly replicas from the 1940s and 1950s era. I buy my vintage denim from Vivien Of Holloway and Freddies of Pinewood and although I do like to wear the full vintage look, I am not dedicated to it, I'm too fickle to stick to one look. I like to experiment with mixing the contemporary and skate / sportsluxe looks with vintage styles just to keep thing fresh, but I will occasionally dive into the full vintage look.

Today I have four (yes, four!) looks to show you with a modern vintage vibe, expect rockabilly, skate wear, sports styling, double denim, grunge, 1940s land girl style and a bovver bomber jacket all worn with vintage cut denim jeans and dungarees.

All clothing from Vivien Of Holloway, Freddies Of Pinewood, Topshop, Vision Streetwear, Primark, H&M, Dr Martens, Converse and Thrift shops.

Thanks for following. No Debutante shall be back with more fashionista fun very soon.

No Debutante - Ill Communication

Hey Hey Fashionistas! I'm sorry I have been away, I refuse to write a downer post about bad weather, tiredness, illness and general winter blues which has been my life for most of 2014 (and why there has been a serious lack of blogging) but this is not going to make you happy or bring the sunshine out! Let's ignore my ailments and check out what I have been wearing during these wintry months. Bad weather does not mean bad outfits, check out how I dress for winter, bright colours and outrageous day time glamour essential!

The first outfit is very 1950s inspired, with my leopard fur, plaid shirt tied at the waist, 1950s jeans, creepers and Victory roll. The second outfit is more 1980s inspired and you don't get much brighter and more colourful than with my amazing Kuccia Aztec print bomber jacket worn with my Coca-Cola crop top and the 1950s jeans again with Dr Martens and hair in a high topknot and headscarf. I think you'll agree that these outfits certainly brighten up an winters day. It makes me want to like winter again.......well, almost....

All clothing from H&M, Vivien Of Holloway, Primark, Kuccia, Topshop, Dr Martens & Underground Shoes.

Thanks for reading and hello to my new followers.

See you very soon. ND xx

No Debutante - Oh Mickey, You're so fine

Oh Mickey, you're so fine, you're so fine, you blow my mind....Hey Mickey!

Here's a short and sweet post of one of my personal style outfits, it didn't really go with any other outfits I wore around the same time and was pretty casual for me in denim cut offs, tube socks, Converse and my Mickey Mouse sweatshirt. The look is inspired by 1980s sports styling and 1970s skaters.

I have a feeling that I am going to struggle to do much blogging over the next few days due to being  busy packing up my kitchen to get it's retro caravan kitchen diner makeover which is starting next week! I'm half excited and half terrified as we do not really know how long we won't have a kitchen for! I am also attending the G-Star event on Friday so let me remind any Bristolians to get over to the Bristol G-Star store in the Cabot Circus between 5.30-8pm to receive goodie bags, free nails and hair make overs and view the latest ladies wear ranges!! I'll see you there!

Thanks for following!

No Debutante - West End Girls

The summer holidays seem like a distant memory now but I have still have a few more summer personal style posts to go, I am definitely playing catch up! For anyone who wants to see what I am wearing right now you need to follow me on Instagram here   instagram.com/nodebutante

Today's photographs were taken on a late summer visit to my hometown Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, UK. It's a traditional seaside town and when I visit these days I visit as a holiday maker and we eat fish and chips, walk along the prom and my kids love the water park! I always meet one of my oldest friends Rachel (who now lives in London) with her family and we do the holiday thing with all of our five kids and they love it.

I have chosen to wear a land girl style outfit in dungarees and scarf in my victory rolled hair. Rachel, like me, is not scared to dress the way she wants to and there is always lots of colour and prints and on this day she wore a fantastic bodycon dress and large sunglasses. I always love the way this girl dresses!! Along with myself and my friend Selena, Rachel will one day become a granny fashionista, I know I will not be alone in my mad old, colourful printed clashing world! Rachel, will definitely be the one in leopard print!! Rachel has more leopard print than me which I thought was impossible!

Check out the photographs of what we wore and what the kids did!

Happy Days!!

Thanks for following xxxxxxxx

No Debutante - Rock'n'Roll Wedding

I am slowly catching up with everything I want to show you from the past month since I disappeared to Ibiza. I am really missing the hot weather of Ibiza and it is now overcast, grey and rainy here in Bristol which is a bit of a downer!

Let's cheer things up with a wedding!! At the end of July a day after my fourth wedding anniversary to my gorgeous husband Phil we went to a fantastic wedding! The weather was scorching and the location of Rob and Ruth's wedding was just perfect, we met so many interesting people and spent a whole day with some old friends including my good friend and fellow blogger Selena aka Dilly Foxtrot Investigates, which was great fun. The party ended in a shabby chic marquee, dancing very enthusiastically to a rock and roll band and a night spent in a lovely country hotel a good time was had by all! It was a great way to celebrate our own wedding anniversary. Thank you Rob and Ruth!!

Here are series of photographs featuring what I wore -  including the Miss Selfridge floral dress, Tatty Devine Earrings and sunglasses from Assessorise - what others wore and what we got up to, plus some amazing tattoos from two new friends who will probably be responsible for me ending up with a tattoo sleeve within the year! Check out some of their traditional tattoos!! Love it!

Seems so long ago now, good times!!

For anyone who would like to check out what I wore whilst in Ibiza you can check out a sneak preview on my Instagram here  http://instagram.com/nodebutante  more blog posts on what I wore in Ibiza shall follow over the next week. Watch this space!

Thanks so much for following and in the words of Spinal Tap.......Have a good time....All the time!!!

No Debutante - Echo Beach, far away in time.....

I am hot, very, very hot!! Are you? How am I gonna cope in Ibiza when I am barely functioning in this great British heat?? I went to Primark this morning for a quick last minute summer holiday shop, it wasn't that successful but I pretty much now have enough crop tops to last me the rest of my life........After my morning shop I decided, since it was so hot, to get the paddling pool out and surprise the kids, the big surprise was I was getting in, the water was freezing but that was sooo nice!!! A quick massivo congrats to Andy Murray for winning Wimbledon for the UK, we've only been waiting 77 Years........Ave it!!

Today's outfits show two different sides to my fashion persona, the first, worn to work and then the pub on Friday, is my 1950s vintage / rockabilly style, I am wearing my 1950s favourite Vivien of Holloway jeans, a striped tee from Topshop and Converse and have my hair up in one of my various victory roll with headscarf up-do's. The second outfit was worn on a very hot Saturday to my boys school summer fair, I spent most of my time face painting, which if I am honest, I quite enjoyed. I decided I was going to do alternative face painting, my boys and a few others went for the Kiss make up but for some reason no child wanted to be David Bowie/ Aladdin Sane lightening bolted up, which was a shame! My outfit is a little rockabilly I guess with the dungarees but it was definitely more of a grunge/ festival style look. I had fresh washed hair and had let it dry naturally and since there was still a bit of backcombing in there it gave it a bit of texture. It actually felt quite long too! It's the first time since I have grown it that I have worn it loose without any hair grips and I quite liked it! I like both looks. Which one is your favourite?

Hope you liked today's looks and thanks for reading!! Enjoy the sun!

No Debutante - Early Bird

Oh my god! The baby got me up at 6.45am today, on a Saturday!!! I think she is trying to kill me......Where is my husband Phil to help you may ask? Well, he's off to Japfest (a Japanese car event -Phil has a Japanese vintage car) with his 240z and mate Mikee, leaving me here with all these children! It is his turn to escape since I went up to London last week to see my lovely ladies, so I guess it is only fair! I have spent the morning taking all three kids to Lucian's (my oldest son) swimming lesson. That boy is an amazing swimmer with great technique. I stay away from him when we are swimming, I don't want to show him up! I tell you what though I could bloody tread water for England. Have some of that!

So, the perfect attire for swimming lessons, wasn't lounge wear and crocs (yikes) like all the other parents, I went for a rockabilly look today with 1950s Vivien of Holloway jeans, Breton top, oversized cardigan and of course my frilly ankle socks and creepers, perfect for a trip to the swimming pool, I thought! What do you think?
