One Girl One Boy!!!

In a contradiction to my girlie side, I generally managed to boy up a lot of my looks by wearing clothing inspired by men's fashion, I have always been a bit of a tomboy as I have mentioned before and I do love a bit of androgyny. In today's personal style pics I have gone the whole way and just worn one of my husband Phil' shirts. I'm not sure whether he likes me wearing his clothes or not but he can be very aloof about these things.....so I just wore it anyway. I did ask at least!

I thought the shirt looked great with my whole outfit which consisted of my bright yellow Gang Of Four tee, denim cut offs, ankle socks and creepers. I made the look a little bit more femme with a lovely pink victory roll and flower in my hair.

For more of a Riot Grrrl look I wore a Fred Perry polo with denim shorts , American Apparel socks, Dr Martens and a quiff. Both looks were popular on Instagram which was cool.

The last image shows of a fantastic flash of my blue hair, even I didn't know it looked like that until I took the photo. I really love my rainbow hair! See, I am pretty girlie really....

All clothing from Topman, Fred Perry, Primark, Dr Martens, Underground, American Apparel and hair by Vikki Mac.

Thanks so much for reading and
I hope to be back very soon with more fashion fabulousness!!

No Debutante - Married With Children

Hey hey! I'm back after a few days off blogging whilst I attended the wedding of Phil's sister Dawn, we had lots of fun and are now feeling tired and not really wanting to go back to our day jobs! My son Mika enjoyed it so much he said he missed living in the hotel!! What he actually misses are all the kids he got to play with at the wedding, He thought everybody lived in the hotel, very sweet!!

So, for all of you readers who have been waiting to see what on earth I wore to the wedding, the time has now come (if you are an Instagram follower you may have seen the sneak preview yesterday) I hope you like the outfit and that you are not disappointed, since I did big it up a fair bit! I decided not to go with the ankle socks on this occasion and had to wear tights since the dress is pretty short, I'm glad I did! Phil's suit (and whole outfit) from  Topman, Lucian and Mika wore Fred Perry polo shirts and H&M retro cut jeans, Vans and Dr Martens, Sylvie Belle is wearing Floral mix print dress from Mama and Papas and retro red shoes from the Jools Oliver range Little Bird at Mothercare and for those who didn't know (cos I haven't really mentioned it...ahem..) my dress is from Zara and the shoes are from Topshop.

I have tried to get a shot of all the family whether they are posed, of kids playing or Lucian's amazing robot dancing (for two hours!!!) It is near on impossible to get a photograph of us all together, I shall try and make it, my mission (impossible). It was a good day.
Thanks Dawn and Dave and congratulations!!!

The happy couple Dawn and Dave Cooper!!

Thanks for reading and hello to my new followers!
Did you like my wedding outfit?? All comments are appreciated!

And she'll have fun, fun, fun til her daddy takes the T-bird away

Vintage Americana is the next look from the S/S 2012 shows that I am going to delve into. As much as I am, at heart, a very British girl,  I do love a bit of 1950s Americana, the big shiny cars, Hot Rods, rockabilly, diners, preppy high school look, rock'n' roll and the good old 1950s housewife, glamourously running the home and not a hair out of place - a look I could never keep up, I'm not dedicated enough and when would I fit social networking in?

The Vintage Americana trend focuses on the 1950s boom, with it's Cadillac rockabilly style car prints, glossy coloured leather skirts (inspired by the big shiny cars and Hot Rods), cute ginghams, preppy plaids, cats eye sunglasses and not forgetting the new exposed midriff - think more 1950s hourglass figure than cheerleader. It's much more subtle than the 1990s midriff show off, as I have said before, it's all about a sneak peek of the torso and not a belly button in sight.
Here are my favourite looks from the High Street.

I have struggled to find a midi skirt that actually suits my style let alone  a bright coloured, leather one. I found this one on Asos.com, it's a bit expensive for me at £90 but I like the styling of the outfit and inspires me to wear the A-line midi's I already own, just need to lose that last bit of baby podge from my tummy!

I do love a pair of cats eye sunglasses, these are from asos.com, I've ordered the tortoise shell one's above and some plain black ones. I'm very excited about this!

Here's a cute preppy look from asos.com (yeah the Americana look is all about Asos!) The diner style shirt, gingham skirt and I love the peep-toe heels with white ankle socks.

This cute gingham bowling shirt is from the Fred Perry By Amy Winehouse S/S 2012 collection. As we all know Amy herself loved a bit of 1950s Americana styling, so get this shirt and the gingham pumps below (also Fred Perry By Amy Winehouse) in memory of the fabulous Miss Winehouse.

I liked this image from Topshop.com from their Twice As Nice promo for Short Suits. This one fits the Americana trend with it's pastel shades and bra top ensemble, I think I was drawn to the image by her hair, love it!

I thought these pep hole white brogues from Topshop.com would look real preppy with a pair of ankle socks and a gingham or pastel shade midi full skirt.

Of course I couldn't do 1950s Americana without a few Vivien of Holloway lovelies. The gingham Bustier halter top above is fantastic and a great alternative to the crop bra tops. I have this one on order along with the new 1950s jeans and a gypsy top. I shall blog about these asap as I wait for my parcel to arrive....very impatiently!!

I was very excited to find this image on vivienofholloway.com I, of course, love the pink halter circle dress, but check out the car and the male model, he's just stepped out of the diner to go pick up his sweetheart in his chevy! Haha! I have no idea what the car is, even my car enthusiast husband Phil didn't know. I thought i'd just blag it.

Black sateen halter pencil dress (above) and black and white large gingham check halter circle dress (below) both from Vivien Of Holloway

This car print top (above) is from Primark, it is amazing, I bought it yesterday for £8!!!! It wins the prize for the best catwalk copy this season, the original version from Prada is seen below on the Elle UK February cover girl Dakota Fanning. I tried on the matching Primark pleat midi skirt too but laughed myself out of the changing rooms, it was hideous on me! ND xx

Fred Perry Amy Winehouse Collection- My favourite pieces

Following my Amy Winehouse Style Icon post from back in August 2011 I am now going to post about some of my favourite pieces from the Amy Winehouse collection for Fred Perry. The pieces I have chosen I have had saved down for a while but I actually prefer these ones to the SS12 Collection and I think these pieces really capture her unique style. So, to steal Amy's unique style check out the pieces below and become inspired!! Find the new collection for SS12 here.  www.fredperry.com

I am not sure if this is a cardigan or jumper (since I found the images a while ago) I love the vintage floral embriodery on the red background.

Love the 1950s check shirt, tied at the waist, yellow looks great with the black. very Amy!
Cute Fred Perry polo shirt (adapted into a halter dress) great colours again and a great mix of sexy / Tomboy. Really like this dress!!!
Again this sexy halter polo shirt dress is fanatastic, I love red, the print is a little rockabily, a little hawaii and paired with those cute little slip ons, it takes the outfit from sexy to tomboy.
Another gingham printed piece, great for the summer and paired with this cute head scarf, Amy loved a headscarf didn't she? As do I!
These little shorts with the floral embroidery are soooo cute, red and highwaisted, all my favourites!!!!
This collection is no longer available on the Fred Perry website but I hope it inspires all you sexy, rockabilly tomboys for this Summer!! I'm all over it!!

This cute image is from the Fred Perry website showcasing the final Amy Winehouse SS12 Collection, please check it out! I realise that Fred Perry items are a little on the expensive side but Fred Perry will be making a donation to The Amy Winehouse Foundation.

We miss you Amy xx

Dr Martens Autumn / Winter 2011 Campaign Featuring Agyness Deyn

I am loving the Dr Martens Autumn Winter 2011 First and Forever Campaign, it features Agyness Deyn (there's a little film and everything!) and the photographer is Gavin Watson who's images, for me, have hit the nail on the head for this 1980s / skinhead / scooter girl / This is Englandesque look, which is a style that has been close to my heart since I was a little kid in the 1980s. I have had to put aside my love / hate relationship with Agyness Deyn, I mean she looks great but she really isn't the first person to be androgynous, a little bit indie, to have short hair and wear Dr Martens!!! It's a little bit like Gwen Stefani pretty much thinking she was the first person to discover Harajuku Girls - 10 years too late.  Ok back to Agyness, she looks great in this campaign so I am back to loving her again.

All images are  from the Dr Martens Autumn Winter 2011 First and Forever
Campaign drmartens.co.uk
and are credited to the photographer Gavin Watson.

Check out the tassled loafas, white socks and black leggings combo!

You have gotta love the donkey jackets, skinny turn up jeans and oxblood Docs.
Androgynous Perfection.

Unfortunately to be androgynous is not perfection in real life. When I'm having one of my dress like a boy days I generally face comments like

'You look like you are wearing a school uniform'

I was wearing a Fred Perry Polo shirt and jeans....Other comments on the same outfit, the classic

 'You look like a Dyke'

and

'why don't you wear normal maternity clothes?'

Don't even get me started on the last comment. ( I am actually pregnant to any new readers who are confused by this statement.)

I'm just happy when people get it, sometimes I like to dress like a boy.....who wears make-up!

More of a grungy look here with the thick ribbed tights, rolled down socks and 8-eye DMs.
I personally prefer to do mine up.

I'm off to buy more white socks, I love DM's!

Whole Lotta Rosie Part 4

I can't even begin to tell you how tired I am whilst I write this blog. I've grown so much in the past couple of days and I am still working at Venue Magazine with just over 6 weeks of my pregnancy to go. It really has taken it's toll on me this time round and I have become annoyed that some of my maternity clothing (and that's limited because I have refused to wear it) is now becoming too tight!! I sat on the floor in my beloved H&M Maternity denim cut off shorts to discover they were also cutting off my blood supply around my waist, which may I point out is now so low I think my waist and hips are now the same thing. So here's what I wore over the last month, Summer ended and then came back again here in England, so the transitional look is what it's all about, along with battling with what fits and what doesn't. Compared to right now, dressing myself last month was easy, The next and possibly, final Whole Lotta Rosie Pregnancy Fashion blog will be very interesting.

Week 31 - Starting to feel really full of baby, the baby moves so much now and I'm beginning to get aching hips from sleeping on my sides (I used to be a dedicated belly sleeper until the bump arrived), I've decided that the Bodycon dress here (yes, it's the old faithful from H&M) is a good way to go for the latter end of my pregnancy too. There is no pulling around the bump and the maternity over bump tights are really comfy. Decided the slutty look is a good way to go, I'm showing off these new curves. Breton top is also from H&M S /S 2010.

I look a bit glazed here, my pregnancy banana brains do tend take over alot. I've gone for a bit of androgyny today, in my Fred Perry and skinnies, my husband Phil bought me the Fred Perry a few years ago but I had complained it was too big for me, fits a treat now! Thanks Phil xx

These are my Topshop maternity jeans which have finally stopped falling off now that my boy hips have got bigger, I'm hoping they do not go the same way as the beloved denim cut offs and become too tight. Belly button is beginning to stick out, although the dot you can see is actually a piercing. Apparently I have been very lucky with the piercing, alot of woman have to take them out during pregnancy, I'm not sure why though.

So the weather has changed and Autumn is approaching, out comes the American Apparel oversized hoodie. I've had it for a couple of years but you can still buy them in loads of different colours. I'm looking a bit sleepy here but at least I have done my hair.

Week 32  - Notice you can now see the stretchy waistband on theTopshop Maternity jeans, the long vests and slouchy tops are no longer hiding it due to the sheer size the bump has decided to grow this week.

A good side view of the bump, it never seems to look as big as it feels on here, its big and heavy, honest!

Lace bodycon dress fro Asos Maternity, the one from the weddings dressed down with red converse low tops and my cuddly Leopard print Topshop cardigan, in the biggest size they had, from last A/W 2010.

The lace bodycon dress helping me pull off the slutty look I had desired. Face looking a little smug.

This photo makes me laugh, it also features my youngest son Mika who was attempting to ruin each photo by chasing me around and sticking that Tech decks training dvd in the way. The little buggar managed to do it in this one. Let's notice the gap in his teeth, he's already lost 3 teeth and he's only 4!! More of him and his older brother Lucian coming soon.

Week 33 - Summer decided to come back in England, it's now October!? I decided to add a bit of colour to myself here. I think this was the day I found out the denim shorts didnt fit anymore, a sad day for everyone involved.

Another hot day, more bright clothes. Basic yellow vest from George at Asda I think and my River Island jumpsuit from last S/S 2010  rolled down as a pair of trousers, the jumpsuit part barely fits over my stomach. second day of the late great British heatwave, I'm in it for comfort all the way, no restricting outfits for me.

The weather has now reverted back to Autumn and it's raining here in England although I'm still quite hot. My bump has grown loads this week and I am so tired and achey. I guess I will post up another Pregnancy Fashion update within a few weeks when I have collected more photos together, perhaps I will even go into labour before then, wishful thinking, I know, Thanks for reading my blog xx
