Saturated Seventies

Inspired by the photo shoot 'Like dreamers do' by photographer Tim Walker for Vogue Magazine back in 2012, here are a collection of over saturated, soft focus but vibrant photographs that give off a boho glam, 1970s feel.

Many of my family photos from the 1970s have faded with a red saturation which adds to the way I see the 1970s in my mind, there is a look of nostalgia and a glamorous time, even though the 1970s was far from it, I just love the vibrant colours and the hazy style, even if it is seen through rose tinted sunglasses.

The style itself is a great inspiration and continuation into the winter months for all those among us longing to get back into their festival glitters and sparkles or for those seventies style vintage lovers wearing bespoke, original fashion pieces.

The colours are warm, dark and much more suited to the winter, in rich burgundies, burnt oranges, crimson reds and dark purples with some electric blue thrown in.

By adding faux fur coats, psychedelic tights, tasselled scarves, flared sleeves, baby doll dresses, sequins and velvets to your winter wardrobe you can keep the bohemian festival style and a love of vintage going through the winter. Perhaps a perfect alternative to that sparkling Christmas outfit? The weather my be cold but you are looking hot!

Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree

Back in September I wrote a post about the ethical fashion childrenswear brand Rockin' Baby. Well we (my daughter Sylvie and I) were lucky enough to get a chance to check out the latest Autumn/ winter collection and created this Christmas inspired photoshoot. The range is a mix of cute florals and prints, retro 70s inspired influences and cuddly pieces for your little one this Christmas and remember with every Rockin' Baby item of clothing you buy an item of clothing is donated to a child in need around the world. It's all good stuff!

Sylvie just loved the cuddly boho faux fur pink gilet, she loves dressing up in animal costumes so this was perfect for her!
She also chose the Foxy Pyjamas as she calls them with the fox embroidery and the cutest retro style matching foxy print PJ bottoms. The PJs are also styled up as a top in the photoshoot below, you know how I like to mix and match. I'm not regimented by when a certain item of clothing should be worn after all!
I just love the retro style Spanish inspired  dress with it's bolero effect shoulders & embroidery details, its so sweet and looks adorable on, it also made from a soft cotton jersey and is a great play dress that's warm, practical and pretty.
The blooming gorgeous floral print soft mesh skirt with ruffled layers is just perfect to wear as a play skirt or to a Christmas party, clothing doesn't last long with kids so they need to have multiple purposes to get the wear out of them!

The final outfit was styled up by Sylvie, influenced by her Mum she went the whole way with non-conformist fashion and wore the pajama bottoms with the Spanish inspired play dress and cuddly gilet! That's my girl!

Thanks to Rockin' Baby and Rachel Burrows PR

GYPSY SPORT

Gypsy Sport pretty much describes my summer style. I have dubbed (or rather hashtagged) this side of my style as boho or Dolly Sports. Its sports wear mixed with sheer fabrics and boho influences. A pair of Adidas tracksuit bottoms worn under a sheer slip dress or sports socks and sliders worn with a tasselled kimono, crop top and retro style sports shorts. I love the juxtaposition of the pretty festival boho garments and dolly smocks worn with street-styled up sportswear. I am well aware, it's a look that will upset some people but I just adore it. This look may be a bit extreme for some but I am already a massive fan. Pretty dresses and cute sports wear? What's not to like here?

Imagine my joy when I discovered Gypsy Sport the brand, which happens to be a New York label by the club kid designer Rio Uribe who mixes sheers and slip dresses with sportswear, redesigning sports wear street styles, creating an androgynous & edgy unisex collection with models dressed in glitter make up, sportswear, slip dresses embellished with fringed tassells and frills, in oversized cuts and bright colours. Gypsy Sport are ridiculously unique and have stepped way out of the fashion comfort box, it's proper No Debutante fuelled styling, I wanna join the Gypsy Sport tribe!

Kimono Love

No Debutante Loves Kimonos!

With Festival season on the horizon what better way to dress for the occasion than with a boho kimono? This was going to be a single kimono post but I have been wearing them so much, this Kimono obsession could turn out to be a regular feature! The kimono in today's post is from Urban Outfitters, it's black, embroidered, silky and has tassels, it has everything! I love it! Layer your kimono up over vest tops and dresses or over jackets, wear with shorts or jeans, experiment with it, it's such a versatile garment. The kimono is the item to make a statement in this summer, however you wear it. Rock it like a groupie!

Here's a couple of ways I have been wearing it lately, expect more from this kimono very soon!

All clothing from Urban Outfitters, Topshop, Primark and No Debutante Vintage.
