Late Summer Weddings

At the end of the summer I attended a couple of friends weddings. The weather was still sunny and warm which turned out to be a very a good thing, especially for the wedding of Paul and Sarah who's festival inspired wedding included a stage for the bands (including my husbands band The Relay Rips-pictured), a campfire, hay bale seating and camping! It was a great day and I got to wear my White Pepper dress for the first time! I even met one of The White Pepper ladies at the wedding which was brilliant and I gushed about how I loved The White Pepper and I know I have mentioned this once or twice on the blog....ahem...but I really do love The White Pepper...so much so that I wore the beautiful pale blue polka dot smock dress to both weddings! The latter being the evening do for my other friends Knitted Nicky (named by me for her love (obsession) with knitwear) and her now husband, David. I had to show you Knitted Nicky's amazing and alternative 1950s style wedding dress made from floral curtain fabric! I loved it so much! You can see Knitted Nicky's beautiful alternative wedding dress in the bottom two images the rest of the images are from Paul and Sarah's wonderful festival wedding.

No Debutante - A Great British Wedding

Today's post features what I wore and what others wore to my friend Abbie's wedding. Abbie and Dan actually got married at the same venue that my husband and I married in four years ago, there is an on-going joke with me and Abbie about the venue's wedding book that they use to promote their venue, Paintworks, to possible couples who are considering tying the knot at this somewhat unconventional event space. I say unconventional as it is a large open plan space which used to be Bristol Paintworks factory dating back to the late 1800's, which is now used as an art gallery and events space and is seen as a blank canvas that you it is can turn into anything you wish. We decorated with coloured lanterns, flowers, cushions and fairy lights with Spanish tapas, Abbie and Dan went for a great British wedding with bunting, tea- cups and a fish and chip supper. Anyway, back to the on-going joke, apparntly, Paintworks use my wedding as an example wedding and have loads of photographs of my wedding in a big wedding book! I had no idea about this but do remember saying they could use some images, anyway, Abbie always teases me about it being my wedding book. It is a bit wierd though isn't it??
Like me, Abbie really loves 1950s style and Dan is really into hot rods so I dressed accordingly in a 1950s cut Vivien of Holloway halterneck pencil dress and wedges. A Vivien of Holloway dress is very beautiful and nipped in in all the right places but I really don't go to enough events to wear the two I currently own (the other being my wedding dress), so any excuse to wear them, I do!

I attended the wedding with my other work buddy Rudi, who looked stunning in her vintage Topshop dress and yellow stilettos ( I also own these yellow Topshop stilettos, I'm glad to see Rudi is also a hoarder, we both got these shoes as a birthday gifts before either of us had kids!! They really are amazing shoes!!) Rudi looked great in her outfit and I love her dip dyed hair colour.

As soon, as I saw Abbie's dress I loved it, I loved the 1950s cut and the red ribbon, white and red is so beautiful, it was perfect for her. Abbie wore her dress with Vivienne Westwood red glitter heels, which I was totally jealous of but later on went a bit more casual in red baseball style pumps, her bridesmaids (who also wore 1950s style dresses with pin up hair) did the same. I loved it and almost wished I had bought my Converse along, it would have been a damn site easier to dance in Converse, that's for sure!! I unfortunately do not have photographs of the bridesmaids, since I don't really know them, although I'm sure they wouldn't  mind and if I'm honest Rudi and I got a little bit drunk and danced for hours!! Good times!!

A massive congratulations and thanks so much for inviting us Abbie and Dan!!!!

More of what I've been wearing lately coming up next and hopefully  some more of my current obsessions and how I will be wearing next seasons looks!

Thanks for reading.

No Debutante - Rock'n'Roll Wedding

I am slowly catching up with everything I want to show you from the past month since I disappeared to Ibiza. I am really missing the hot weather of Ibiza and it is now overcast, grey and rainy here in Bristol which is a bit of a downer!

Let's cheer things up with a wedding!! At the end of July a day after my fourth wedding anniversary to my gorgeous husband Phil we went to a fantastic wedding! The weather was scorching and the location of Rob and Ruth's wedding was just perfect, we met so many interesting people and spent a whole day with some old friends including my good friend and fellow blogger Selena aka Dilly Foxtrot Investigates, which was great fun. The party ended in a shabby chic marquee, dancing very enthusiastically to a rock and roll band and a night spent in a lovely country hotel a good time was had by all! It was a great way to celebrate our own wedding anniversary. Thank you Rob and Ruth!!

Here are series of photographs featuring what I wore -  including the Miss Selfridge floral dress, Tatty Devine Earrings and sunglasses from Assessorise - what others wore and what we got up to, plus some amazing tattoos from two new friends who will probably be responsible for me ending up with a tattoo sleeve within the year! Check out some of their traditional tattoos!! Love it!

Seems so long ago now, good times!!

For anyone who would like to check out what I wore whilst in Ibiza you can check out a sneak preview on my Instagram here  http://instagram.com/nodebutante  more blog posts on what I wore in Ibiza shall follow over the next week. Watch this space!

Thanks so much for following and in the words of Spinal Tap.......Have a good time....All the time!!!

No Debutante - Married With Children

Hey hey! I'm back after a few days off blogging whilst I attended the wedding of Phil's sister Dawn, we had lots of fun and are now feeling tired and not really wanting to go back to our day jobs! My son Mika enjoyed it so much he said he missed living in the hotel!! What he actually misses are all the kids he got to play with at the wedding, He thought everybody lived in the hotel, very sweet!!

So, for all of you readers who have been waiting to see what on earth I wore to the wedding, the time has now come (if you are an Instagram follower you may have seen the sneak preview yesterday) I hope you like the outfit and that you are not disappointed, since I did big it up a fair bit! I decided not to go with the ankle socks on this occasion and had to wear tights since the dress is pretty short, I'm glad I did! Phil's suit (and whole outfit) from  Topman, Lucian and Mika wore Fred Perry polo shirts and H&M retro cut jeans, Vans and Dr Martens, Sylvie Belle is wearing Floral mix print dress from Mama and Papas and retro red shoes from the Jools Oliver range Little Bird at Mothercare and for those who didn't know (cos I haven't really mentioned it...ahem..) my dress is from Zara and the shoes are from Topshop.

I have tried to get a shot of all the family whether they are posed, of kids playing or Lucian's amazing robot dancing (for two hours!!!) It is near on impossible to get a photograph of us all together, I shall try and make it, my mission (impossible). It was a good day.
Thanks Dawn and Dave and congratulations!!!

The happy couple Dawn and Dave Cooper!!
