No Debutante - Sick Sick Sick

I have been feeling unwell again and have been zapped of energy.....but nothing stops this girl from blogging for too long!! This really is a short little post, but I just had to show you my fashion moments from the past few days, I couldn't resist it. I always feel guilty about just resting up, even if I'm ill, I still see it as time wasting! It is no wonder I am often ill, is it??

Today's photographs start with me taking photos of my forward rolling victory roll on my way to work on Friday, I have no evidence of my actual outfit, I seriously did not have the time and was not feeling too good either, I was, however, rather pleased with the forward victory roll so had to get some quick evidence of it, so yes, I am that person on the bus, taking pictures of herself......It's all for fashion daaaaarrrrllllliiiiinnng!
Next comes a quick snap of me at the zoo over the weekend, I went to write a review for work, perhaps if I have the time (and more energy) I can do a post on the family zoo visit as we got loads of cool photographs, alas, not today. Check out my zoo outfit, more festival, grunge than zoo with the kids, I did get a few stares, of course, I'd expect nothing less!
Lastly comes today's personal style pics. I went for mix prints and Sylvie joined in with a bit of leopard print, again there were not many photographs to choose from since I look real tired and a bit ill in most of them! I hope you can appreciate that even when I am rushed off my feet or poorly I still manage to make the effort, in the name of fashion!!

I just thought I'd let you know that whilst I am writing this post and feeling poorly, I am also ordering my online weekly groceries shop, don't tell this mother and sista fashionista that she cannot multi-task!

Thanks for reading fashion lovers, I shall hopefully be back and blogging very soon....Tomorrow, if I have my way!

No Debutante - White Wedding

I spent ages yesterday evening trawling through websites to find a dress or at least some inspiration for a dress to wear to my sister-in-law Dawn's wedding. With less than three weeks until the big day, I have to admit, I am struggling! As much as I love buying new clothes and creating outfits, I am out of my comfort zone with formal wear and the etiquette that goes with it, a biggy for me is - Do not stand out (too much) in the wedding photographs, I always dress to the extreme and having to reign it in is a challenge!!
I feel a little uninspired since I am not just purchasing an outfit because I really like it,I am now buying it in desperation!! There is lots of pressure to find this outfit within a couple of weeks, why didn't I look for it sooner?? Well, as you know, us fashionistas are a fickle bunch and I would probably have gone off the outfit by the time I had to wear it. Where's the logic here? There isn't any!
I did consider another Vivien of Holloway dress but I already have two (one being my own wedding dress)and I can't wear my wedding dress to my sister-in-laws wedding!
You can see I'm having a fashion dilemma here, so, I opted for good ol' Topshop to help me through this hard time, only to find that the one dress I liked, I already have and it isn't very wedding like, but then, neither am I! Perhaps I shall go with this dress then????
But, I want a new dress (stamps her feet like a spoilt child)!!!
I have decided to go on a search for a dress during my lunch break from work, I am always up for shopping!! I shall keep you updated on my wedding outfit progress and shall hopefully have a new dress for the wedding!!

Here are today's personal style pics, they have received two likes from complete strangers on Instagram this morning, which pleases me. This techno-doofus is getting the hang of all this hash tag malarkey! Now to get that Instagram widget up on the blog!

I have actually managed to wear my leopard print Dr Martens today, I've had them ages and only worn them once!! Still on the skinhead style inspiration, I've paired them with my American apparel sports socks, oversized denim cut offs and my Specials t-shirt. I went for a bit of backcombing in the hair today worn with a pink head scarf.

No Debutante - Dexys Debutante

Hey Hey! Hope you're having a fun weekend?
I spent the day at a spa in Bristol yesterday which was all very relaxing and a much needed break from the chaos that is my life. I took my Mum along, as a treat and after hogging the outdoor hot tub (it was sunny and we refused to get out) and then various sauna and steam rooms we had amazing full body massages! I, as always, fell asleep and then had to attempt to drive home, very relaxed but kinda sleepy! There was no chance that I could stay awake and get some blogging done yesterday!
This morning we were invited to a brunch at our friends Pete and Claire's, they have two boys and an amazing, many floored town house to explore, so my kids love going there. We ended up at the slightly overcast park for an hour of running around and now the kids are at home watching The Lorax whilst the baby sleeps, so the personal style blogging commences......

I wore the dungarees to work on Friday, I'm sure you will be glad to hear that I did get on the right bus, remembered to put my make-up on and drop off the kids which is a Friday morning success in my book! My work colleague said I looked like Dexys (Dexys Midnight Runners circa Come On Eileen) which I took as a compliment.
I tried out the forward victory rolls again in my hair, I'm getting bloody good at it!

The second outfit was my spa day outfit, I would have preferred to not wear tights but that is not likely in the UK at the mo. Brrrrrrr! I did get to sit outside in the hot tub though, pretending there was a heatwave.

Happy weekend and thanks for reading.

No Debutante - Band T-shirts and a Night Out

After successfully getting on the correct bus to work this Friday morning and feeling rather pleased with myself that I had got the kids to school and nursery on time and even managed to put Sylvie's hair up and style Mika's hair for him (he is getting very particular about his hair these days, I don't know where he gets it from..) to then realising that I had clearly not put on any make up!! This is a crisis for me since my make up hides how tired I really look and I also have fair eyelashes which without my faithful Max Factor Fat Lashes smothered on them frankly make my eyes look even smaller! I panicked and had no make up on me since swapping my bags and contents over when I went out last weekend, I walked into the office with my sunglasses on and luckily borrowed some make up from my work buddy Cath! Phew! Trauma over!

On Friday evening I caught up with my work buddy Rudi for drinks, we drank rum and put the world to rights and ended the night in a chip shop (don't judge, we were hungry!!) rather than a night club - Rock n Roll!! As always it is a pleasure hanging out with the lovely Rudi.

Casual work outfit - Blondie t-shirt borrowed from my husband Phil

Friday night outfit and another band t-shirt

Ridiculous rainbow shoes and turned up leopard print leggings

Rudi rocks it in denim hot pants and a faux fur

Don't forget to nominate me for the Company Style Blogger Awards 2013 here http://www.company.co.uk/magazine-hq/stylebloggerawards2013 it appears that the whole last days to nominate thing that was appearing on loads of blogs is untrue as the Company website is still promoting the awards on their homepage. So, if you do like what you see please nominate me in the Best Personal Style Blog catagory!

Thanks kids. ND xx

No Debutante - Get Shirty

My Wednesdays at work have become more challenging with a constant weekly deadline looming over press days and planning sheets, it's changed my day of slowly easing back into work each week  (I work weds-Fri) to a full on, get thrown into the deep end first day back at work! To make things that little bit harder, the baby woke us up at 5.55am and my bloody phone company charged me £10 for listening to one track on Spotify?? What the??

Here's a quick look at what I have been wearing over the past few days, the denim shirt was a favourite. This is how I wear mine with a little help from Sylvie Belle.

Sleeveless or long sleeves, denim shirts are one of my new favourite things to wear! Dr Martens and wearing my hair down were popular too it seems and another shock horror story I actually considered buying an iron (we don't iron anything, my mother in law claims she saw me ironing some flyers for my club night Bang once, sounds about right!) So, yeah, since I have been wearing shirts a lot lately and lots of Sylvie's dresses seem to need ironing, I was actually considering the iron option. Or get my Mum to do it for me! Do I look like I'm kidding??......Muuuuum?

No Debutante - Weekender

On Saturday night I got to go out again to a less formal affair for a joint celebration for my brother Mike and his girlfriend Naomi's birthday's. I was very excited as I got to wear my new ridiculous shoes -the rainbow creeper wedges! I shall confess that although they are quite easy to walk in I definitely did twist my ankle whilst dancing! I also got to wear my lovely Vintage Americana print dress that I hadn't worn out yet and I also wore a denim waistcoat that I have had in my wardrobe for years (since everyone was wearing them in Japan when I went) but every time I put it on something wasn't right, for no reason whatsoever, it seems fine to wear now!? It's weird when that happens, but I'm glad I persevered!

After this long social drought I've been having I think I'm actually out again next weekend with my friend Rudi! What to wear??

No Debutante - Ten Storey Love Song

The first night out from my double-whammy weekend was to attend the very lovely tenth wedding anniversary of our friends Mikee and Yva at a rather grand wine and champagne bar & restaurant named Goldbrick House in Bristol. I have been there before for my friend Rudi's wedding so I knew it was a dress up event! Phil pointed out that the staff were very keen to help (he was lugging decks about that were being borrowed for the night -for once we had managed to not DJ or have Phil's band The Relay Rips playing, it was just a night out, which is a rarity for us ) anyway back to the staff, they actually carried all the equipment for him and kept calling him 'Sir' which for us is a rare treat, we are used to turning up at a venue where we are playing in the room upstairs and have to lug all equipment ourselves. I have been known to complain about this, you try lugging heavy record boxes and decks about in heels!! I even did it when I was pregnant! Rock'n'Roll!

We had a great night getting spoilt and dressing smart.

Who'd have thought it, a Primark dress at a posh place??

No Debutante - Pretend That We're Dead

I am very happy today since finding out that my blog had its largest amount of hits in a day ever yesterday, this is really encouraging for me as a blogger who appears to have more people following me on Facebook and Pinterest rather than through the usual google or Bloglovin'. This isn't a gestimate, it's just what the stats tell me and also I get so many Facebook friends who comment to me personally about my blog (and on Facebook) rather than messages on my blog itself. This is great for me as a blogger but sadly it doesn't look so great on the blog and doesn't rate me so highly in any Fashion blogger stats. This used to get me down a bit but, to be honest, I now know that people are following me and that Facebook and Pinterest have been the most help for me to get my blog noticed. This has also got me thinking that I  need to create a No Debutante Facebook page and start a Twitter account, this has been of no interest to me until now, I'm quite excited!

One last thing that has been on my mind is the Company Style Blogger Awards 2013 (quick plug -nominate me here http://www.company.co.uk/magazine-hq/stylebloggerawards2013 for the Best Personal Style Blog) I would love to win this and get some recognition but I have no idea how it is judged, I am hoping it is by content and not by how many visible followers you have. There are so many blogs nominated that they will need to whittle them down to a shortlist in a small amount of time, which means not much research into each blog! Of course, I am still confident I can get noticed and I am intrigued to see who gets on the shortlist! Impatient? Me?

So here's something a bit different from me in the personal style area, after complaining about my hair looking weird down I have actually been wearing it down for the past couple of days. I was inspired to perhaps go a bit grunge/1990s and pop a couple of hairgrips in centre parted hair. I was not sure whether to show these images or not as I pretty much got dressed and hair and make-up done in about 5 minutes (busy life of a mum of three init) took the photographs and left the house - a trip to the cinema to see The Croods with the boys on this occasion - so not too much thought went into the look! I have ended up looking a bit grungy, a bit Tim Minchin, a bit Ginger Spice and a bit me during the 1990s but I think there is a cool grungy look in there somewhere so let's go with it.

Hair down or up? I know these last minute images are not doing my hair worn down the greatest justice so perhaps I'll spend more time on some other photographs over the next week to try to sell it to you, well, me.......

No Debutante - Geeky in Pink

It is now time to reveal my new hair colour! Yey! My hair stylist Vikki Mac came up with this creation after I requested a bright hair colour that stays in your hair longer than the two wash toners that I have been using for the past few years. On this occasion Vikki mixed up some bright pink crazy colour with some conditioner and -as a tester- gave me a bright pink streak through my already pink toned hair. I haven't washed it get so I have no idea how long this colour will last, only time will tell on that. The great thing is that it may open up the door to many new, longer lasting colours and tones for the future! I love hair colour and at the moment, the brighter the better!

You like??

For no reason what-so-ever I am working the Geek Chic look in the next images, this is what I look like at work. I will not conform! I love the way my hair is toned up with my big Dierdre Barlow glasses!

I am looking forward to experimenting with loads of hair styles with my new colour. Tomorrow, expect the unexpected from me.

Oh,and before I go, could I just mention the Company Style Blogger Awards 2013? If you read and like my blog please nominate me in the Best Personal Style Blog category and I will be eternally grateful. Here's the link!

Thank you so much for reading!
