Modern Life is Rubbish

I'm a very fickle person, I admit it, a typical Gemini some might say, a split personality perhaps?? Well, this is mostly the truth when it comes to fashion and how I choose to wear certain looks.....all at once mostly. Today we are looking at one of my fashion persona's and, to be honest, it's the most common of my looks these days. Oh my Gosh! Have a finally found my very own look and I am sticking to it???.......I wouldn't hold your breath......

Today's look (Fashion persona....ahem) is vintage, it's late 1940s / early 1950s, it's rockabilly. Here a few examples.....

Let's start with the rock'n'roll circle dress that I bought from H&M years ago and have been wearing ever since! This skirt looks great with an elasticated belt and worn up or down with either a big petticoat and wedges or with a head scarf and Converse for a more dressed down look. I've been pairing it with jeans lately too for a more rockabilly, tomboy look which frankly confuses most people! But I like it!

The second look is a bit more forties vintage and I have styled up several victory rolls in my hair and have worn a Breton tee and my Freddies of Pinewood wide leg jeans. It's a classic daytime outfit.

The third outfit is more of a modern day take on vintage style, I have dressed up a H&M skater dress, nipped in my waist, worn a monochrome cardigan and put my hair up in a victory roll wrapped up with a leopard print head scarf.......But, what's this? I knew I couldn't stay in my vintage persona for too long.........Look, I'm wearing my rainbow wedges!! Love it!! Now all I need are those flashing Buffalo boots from Ashish X Topshop and I am happy!

Have fun with your fashion!!

All clothing from H&M, Freddies of Pinewood, Topshop, New Look and Office Shoes.

No Debutante - She's Like a Rainbow

It's been raining over the past few days here in the UK and it's getting cold, grey and miserable so let's cheer ourselves up by wearing rainbow creeper shoes and colouring our hair pink.....well.....er....that's what I'm gonna do....I hope I can bring some sunshine back into your day with my next personal style post!

I wore the first outfit out to a Sunday night gig to watch my friend Nic's band The Afterparty, who frankly rocked it! I was one of the oldest people in the room and felt a little out of place, not because of my age, i really couldn't give a damn about that, but even I thought I may have over dressed for a Sunday night gig. Looking back at the photographs today the outfit seems to be pretty standard for a No Debutante outfit so I'm not sure why I was secretly feeling a bit insecure, perhaps it was the Canadian support band who I heard say something about the UK fashion being crazy and way ahead of Canada, I'm sure this isn't true, although I don't know any Canadians personally. Can any Canadian followers validate this for me?? I have come to the conclusion that my short lived insecurities actually came from the fact that I was wearing my ridiculous rainbow creeper shoes that make me tower over most people, I think the only people who were intimidated on this night were the tiny sixteen year old Scene and Emo girls, bless them, I must have been terrifying! Check out my Topshop airforce bomber jacket, it has taken me half a year to find the perfect bomber and there it was in Toppers all along!

The second outfit has a more preppy 1950s high school look, I am wearing my peoples favourite (everyone loves this top) Primark vintage Americana Prada copy top with the classic Vivien of Holloway 1950s jeans worn with leopard print cardigan (also Primark) frilly socks and Converse. I was very comfortable in this outfit, 1950s preppy is always a winner. I wore my pink hair up in a topknot for a couple of days, it's simple yet looks cool. I apologise for the cropped off feet on the second outfit, I must have been in a hurry when I took the photographs, at least I took a still of the footwear so you can actually see what was on my feet!!

Thank you for following and reading my blog, it means alot to me!!

I will attempt to get more posts up this week but there is still lots of renovation work going on in my house which is proving hard to work around! Perhaps another personal style post to follow, watch this space!

No Debutante - Band T-shirts and a Night Out

After successfully getting on the correct bus to work this Friday morning and feeling rather pleased with myself that I had got the kids to school and nursery on time and even managed to put Sylvie's hair up and style Mika's hair for him (he is getting very particular about his hair these days, I don't know where he gets it from..) to then realising that I had clearly not put on any make up!! This is a crisis for me since my make up hides how tired I really look and I also have fair eyelashes which without my faithful Max Factor Fat Lashes smothered on them frankly make my eyes look even smaller! I panicked and had no make up on me since swapping my bags and contents over when I went out last weekend, I walked into the office with my sunglasses on and luckily borrowed some make up from my work buddy Cath! Phew! Trauma over!

On Friday evening I caught up with my work buddy Rudi for drinks, we drank rum and put the world to rights and ended the night in a chip shop (don't judge, we were hungry!!) rather than a night club - Rock n Roll!! As always it is a pleasure hanging out with the lovely Rudi.

Casual work outfit - Blondie t-shirt borrowed from my husband Phil
