Transitional Traumas!

As the seasons change and winter begins to loom over us like a bad dream (yeah, I hate the winter! ) it's time to take a look at what No Debutante has been wearing in these transitional months.

There is nothing more exciting than the arrival of Spring and not having to wear a coat anymore, well for a few months anyway, and what about the freedom of being able to wear just shorts and a vest top every day? I really look forward to that time of year and that side of transitional fashion but the other end of transitional fashion just doesn't appeal to me at all!

I do not embrace the colder weather, I am, without a doubt, a summer person. I will admit to romanticising over the idea of being able to wear my faux furs and beanie hats again but this will be short lived, soon I will realise that I will have to wear overcoats and winter woollies every day, for half a year or more, (the weather in the UK honestly sucks) I think I am already over it!

September started like this, I had a glowing tan and I was still refusing to even consider wearing extra layers. Realising I wasn't in Majorca anymore, I allowed a half cover up of a long sleeve hoodie or trousers but that was all, it was still crop tops a go-go for No Debutante.

I subtly added a red beret - that I had spotted in Vogue magazine on my holidays and thought I could probably pull it off - into the mix late September , but, slowly, the cold crept in with October, which is where you find me now, wearing scarves, tights and cardigans! I am absolutely furious!

From happily leaping about in summer layers to warm layers and bloody tights! (Still managing to sneak a crop top under those layers though!)
Bringing in transitional styling with sporty shorts and popper pants

My super comfy striped Duvet Days co-ord is a perfect transitional outfit and can be worn layered up with jackets and boots as the cold kicks in.

Introducing the No Debutante new favourite Topshop Vinyl beret! Yeeeeessssss!

Bringing in the clashing prints this Autumn in Keith Haring style monochromes and my newly purchased vintage crop jacket (that makes me feel like a late 1980s pop star,)
both pair up a treat with that beret and some Tezla earrings!

Happy Transitional October Fashionistas!

Bristol's finest Insta fashionistas

Here's a quick catch up with the amazing, independent Bristol fashion designers who are catching No Debutante's eye on Instagram......

Laa Woof

Kick ass feminist fashion from the outrageous and fabulous Laa Woof
Always repping strong women with big prints, sparkly colours & amazing photo shoots! Laa Woof is a girlboss, she is exciting & inspiring & also became my big fashion article for Bristol 24/7 this month; where you will can out more about the latest collection  'Vulva La Revolution' that mixes festival & clubwear fashion with bondage and female empowerment. This collection is on fire! Meeeeeeooooooow!

Who runs the world? Laa Woof!

Duvet Days

This bright & bold collection of 90s prints & streetwear garms grabbed my attention on Instagram & although upcycling retro duvet covers into garms isn't a new thing, in this amazing, upcycling world; these fab designers have taken it to a new level by only using duvets to create their amazing co-ords and cute streetwear pieces. Duvet Days are all about sustainability & ethical fashion, they collaborate with local designers and tailors Jokoto too (watch this space for more on Jokoto), who help to recreate the Duvet Days vision into super-cool, bespoke handmade shirts. Keep it local, bright & beautiful!

Tezla Designs

It's no secret that No Debutante loves Tezla & who wouldn't? This blingin' & bloomin AMAZE collection of contemporary streetwear jewellery & accessories brand is soooo on point, with the memphis style prints all handpainted onto small runs of vibrant, fresh styles. There are so many amazing designs to choose from including the original circular versions to oversized triangles and hexagon shaped earrings and rings, get yourself over to Tezla and brighten up your ears this summer! She Shirts

A new collaboration between feminist fashionista Bristol Uni students who were tired of seeing fellow female student wearing mainstream 'so called' feminist style slogan t-shirts & decided to create their own, with all profits going towards female charities rather than into the pockets of fast fashion corporates. The range consists of basic but effective t-shirts printed with handwritten & drawn images with designs including the Hands Off print & Woman Up slogan tee's.
She Shirts also gave No Debutante the greatest honour by quoting me on Instagram for an article I wrote about them for Bristol 24/7 on International Women's Day. These gals are all about empowering women, which is just so positive!!! Great photoshoot too!

That Thing

These long time friends of No Debutante, never fail to impress me with their brimming collections of streetwear for men, women & unisex garms. That Thing are currently having a successful run with their newly launched Asos marketplace Vintage collection which features contemporary style shirts, jackets, denims & sportswear all from the late 80s and early 90s, repping retro style & the That Thing brand. The current contemporary collection features cuddly streetwear garms in soft fleeces, sweats, logo tees & joggers in creams, greys and monochromes, perfect for the longest winter ever! (Read more on the collection & That Thing in my Bristol 24/7 article)
That Thing are also ambassadors for independent designers and offer many Bristol designers including (Tezla & Duvet Days) a platform at their Stokes Croft shop, to showcase their talents. That Thing are just the best!

The Tee word

No Debutante loves big, bright and colourful t-shirts. Check a few of the latest looks from the No D wardrobe featuring abstract prints, kawaii imagery and streetwear logos. Just 'cos the winter is coming it doesn't mean you have to neglect your tees, layer them over long sleeve tops especially a skinny polo-neck (a big fashion combo this year) or wrapped up under cuddly cardigans, remember a t-shirt is for life not just for the summer...

Spring fashion round up

Fashion season is in full swing here in Bristol, with so many fashion events happening over the past month from new collections, fashion shows, pop-up shops and fashion salvage's, it's been fun, fun, fun for this fashionista!

With new fashion events come new fashion goodies and with new fashion goodies comes No Debutante needing some of these new fashion goodies to wear and share with you lovely lot.

From fashion goodies by local designers to a random Dr Marten obsession (it just kinda crept up on me...) mixed with the usual No Debutante print clashing, sportswear-loving, layer obsessing, oversized styling, fashion mash-up in bold bright colours from tomboy cool to girlie cute. I think I have everything is covered!

Fresh Prints

Hey hey Fashionistas! It's been a busy month for No Debutante, I have met and interviewed Bristol independent Fashion brands True Soldier and the newly opened Recreo for Bristol 24/7, with two more Bristol fashion events coming up in April including the brilliant Fashion Front fashion show and a fashion salvage event with Kecks Clothing for Fashion Revolution Week. Get yourself down to both of these events, No Debutante will be there photographing and documenting whilst interviewing and even helping to judge the fashion salvage competition! Come and join the fashion fun!

No Debutante has also been working on a few projects of her own with local photographers and going back to my fashion designers roots which I am really excited about. Watch this space for more on this.......

What has No Debutante been wearing this April? Still not managing to shake off the tights and layers in this breezy country, I have flooded April with colours and prints to brighten things up! Expect lots of boldly printed shirts, mashed up with sportswear and Dr Martens shoes (my latest treat to myself for working full time). I love to mix smart with sports, try it, it's not as bad as it sounds!

 Fresh Prints of Bel-air

Smart Sports- Mixing shirts and Dr Martens with joggers

When colour clashing I like to add a pair of my favourite Tezla earrings, there are so many colours and styles of Tezla to choose from, there is always a pair to suit any outfit!

My bowl cut hairdo, changes colour by the day, how?? I have my bleached hair coloured pink and as I wash it the Crazy Color slowly fades out leaving random sections pink and washing out of other sections. It goes a lovely fruit salad colour, who needs mood enhance hair colours eh?

I'm still loving Monki's oversized and peplumed dresses, they hang so well and have oversizing just right! I just have to keep going on about them even though I really don't want to big up corporate brands (high street giants H&M own Monki), good styling and cutting just can't be ignored!

Slip dresses, culottes and sportswear will be following me into the summer months, hopefully without so many layers and few more, bare legged opportunities! I'm actually cold whilst I am writing this, come on summer, come and play, spring is being a dick!

Retro Sports (and bare legs eeeek!)

 Culottes and lots of culottes

All clothing from BTR, Adidas, Reebok, Lazy Oaf, Urban Outfitters, Dr Martens, Tezla Designs,  Topshop, The White Pepper, Monki, Vision Streetwear, Primark and Miss 4ire.
