No Debutante - Pink Sunshine

Phew! I'm back in the blogging room! It's been a busy old week with work (I am soooo busy and seriously need a pay rise) I also attended my sons various sporting activities including Saturday morning football and a swimming gala, in which, I am very proud to announce, my son Lucian came third (in his first ever swimming gala) and came home with a bronze medal in Breast stroke! A-mazing!! Whilst all this is going on I have been living without a kitchen since last Wednesday, it's crazy but very exciting as my retro caravan kitchen diner is being fitted as we speak!! I will write a post on how the kitchen is going when we have made a little more progress and I cannot wait until it is ready!!

Well, that's where I have been for the last few days. Let's get back onto some personal style looks from No Debutante!! I had just had my hair coloured pink in todays post, I went for a dip dye look this time - I have so many colour alternatives that I want to try that it is now becoming an obsession , as with the tattoos, did I say I have arranged a date for my first ever tattoo?? I am very excited and terrified at the same time....but that's another story.

The sun was still shining and I was still tightless, although the weather is still very mild in the UK at the moment, I am not braving the tights free look anymore, it's over! I chose to wear my Topshop peephole skater dress and my vintage denim pinafore dress both with frilly ankle socks and Dr Martens. I went through a few weeks of a Dr Martens wearing, centred parted hair, riot girl, grunge mood as you will see in the next few personal style posts.
I love wearing my hair down when it has just been pinked up and my hair is long enough now to be worn down and to look half decent in a centre parted 1990s style. After colouring my hair, my hair stylist Vikki Mac braided my hair, which I kept in until the next morning to create braid waves (not the official name for them, I think I may have made it up) it looked OK but it still isn't quite long enough to achieve the long, flowing, bohemian waves, I looked more like the 1980s toy dog Poochie, you remember Poochie, what the??
Despite the Poochie after effects I am loving the style of my hair in the braids, I love braids(or plaits as we call them in the UK) It's such an easy thing to achieve, just braid up random sections of hair and pin them up. Tadaa! Effortless and effective.
I love my Pink hair, thank you Vikki Mac!! For all of you who are local to Bristol, get yourself over to  Vidal Sassoon trained Vikki Mac's Hair Studio at Me Time Hair and Beauty https://www.facebook.com/decohairtotterdown
She's the best kept secret in Bristol!! Well, she was....

No Debutante - Vintage Denim

I love denim, I wear it nearly everyday in every guise from vintage cut jeans to retro denim jackets to customised denim cut offs. Today's personal style outfit both feature denim but in very different looks and both are based on vintage and retro styles.

The first outfit is an eighties inspired version of the 1950s look, the 1950s were massive in the eighties and this is a contemporary version combining three decades in one look! Confused yet? The denim in this outfit is new but the cut of these Vivien of Holloway jeans (regular followers will know I love these jeans) comes from vintage 1950s jean patterns and I love them.

The second outfit features a bit of double denim with the denim panels on the shirt and the vintage 1970s denim pinafore dress which I have owned since the 1990s.

I have loved wearing my hair twisted and pinned up this summer. Hairpins are one of the greatest inventions for hair and you can achieve these twisted up looks using hairpins even if you have short hair (obviously not cropped short!) it's a great way to give the illusion that your hair is longer and it is so easy to do whether your hair is long or short! You can also use hair clips and flowers to keep the style in place. Try it today!

I've been at Brisfest (an annual Bristol festival) all weekend and I now need my beauty sleep. Hope you had a great weekend too!

Thanks for following and hello new followers!! xx

No Debutante - Levitate Me

I am very excited to be DJing tonight at my club night Bang, here in Bristol, it's been a while!! As some of you will know Bang was ten years old this year and we celebrated with a big Bang party back in February, check out the big Bang party here http://no-debutante.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/bang-is-10-10-years-of-your-new.html  I run Bang with my husband Phil and brother Mike, we play alternative indie and 80s, new wave, ska, 50s rock'n'roll, 60s garage, glam, punk and Northern Soul and we rock! These days we put on a Bang event four times a year, I have too many kids and too little time to run a club night every month like we did for the first 8 years of Bang! I promise to write a post on how the night went, what we wore, who was there and what we got up to very soon. Bang on!

I have been away for a few days from my personal style posts so here's me looking rather tanned on the first days back in  Bristol after my amazing Ibiza holiday.
So, what did I wear?

The first outfit, is my new favourite Coca-Cola crop top and the H&M skater skirt worn with American Apparel tube socks and red Converse, I have loved 1970s skate style for years and I love wearing tube socks Tony Alva style! I am, of course, doing an ollie in the photograph below and my Penny board is just out of shot (ahem).
The second outfit shows the return of the vintage denim pinafore dress, worn with a crop top and the Converse again.  Look closely at the first photograph of this outfit, I saw a fellow blogger, the lovely Aiko from Hapy Friends Shoppe blog do this levitation style pose on her blog http://hapyshoppe.blogspot.co.uk, so I thought I'd give it a go. it is not an easy thing to jump and keep your face in a posed position so the fact that I managed to pull this shot off pleased me. The photograph freaked my kids out, who believed I was actually levitating!
Which outfit do you prefer?

I shall be back with more personal style and lifestyle posts plus I have a few new product review posts in the pipeline, so lots going on!

Thank you so much for following and reading.

No Debutante - Put on your pink shoes and dance the blues

I didn't think I would get a chance to blog today but I have found some time to show you today's outfit. I woke up not really knowing what to wear which is unusual for this outfit planner, I decided on the vintage denim pinafore and wore it with my denim & leopard print shirt (another Primark bargain!) Check out the pins! I am not a fan of showing off my bare legs but I thought I would give it go today worn with a pair of Converse low tops to keep things simple and brightened the outfit up with red accents.Typically on the day I have bare legs it got cold and rained!!! The outfit was pretty popular on Instagram so I decided I must look OK! Instagram is my favourite thing lately, I don't know why I didn't join it sooner!

My dress for the next wedding arrived today, I haven't had a chance to try it on yet, I also got Sylvie some Pink Converse high tops, sooooo cute, Sylvie liked them until I put them on her feet, unlike me, Sylvie hates a new pair of shoes!!!

That's it from me today, it is now the boys bedtime followed by wine o'clock and perhaps a film! Have a good evening / day wherever you are!!

Thanks for reading!!

No Debutante - Dress you up

Another day, another wedding to buy a new dress for, ain't life hard?? It would be simpler if I hadn't gotten myself into a competition with my dear friend and fellow blogger Selena from Dilly Foxtrot Investigates, to see who could wear the best outfit creation (without out-doing the bride for attention) using a only dress, many accessories and outrageous hair, this is war and I intend to win but, I am up against a very stylish lady so anything could happen! I think I have found the dress (I shall not be revealing where from just yet) and I have the shoes from Topshop worn at Dawn's wedding only a few weeks ago. Why can't I wear the same dress you ask? Don't be ridiculous, I cannot think of any better excuse than to buy a new dress and wear it to a wedding!! You can never have too many dresses and remember I always re-wear my dresses dressed down as day wear or up for the evening, so it is never a waste of money for this dress hoarder!!

What have I been wearing the past couple of days then? Well it looks like it's all about short dresses and denim worn with boyish creepers and Docs and quiffed up rockabilly hair. I have been taking my own photographs again recently, ever since my lovely husband Phil bought me an iphone tripod for my birthday, I use it every day and now I don't have to pester Phil and my kids to take my photographs for me, which makes things less stressful and rushed!! The denim pinafore is proof of my hoarding (as some of you may know) I bought this pinafore at festival about 20 years ago!! It's vintage 1990s - and it was vintage then so I reckon it is probably from the 1970s , not bad eh?

Catch more of what I have been wearing tomorrow, I am also continuously planning my holiday wardrobe, so perhaps a future post on that? Hmmm, what to wear??

Thank you for reading and hello to my new followers!

No Debutante - Vintage Queen

It was back to work for me today and I loved it that I could wear sleeveless tops and a skirt with no tights on my morning trek, the sun was shining and I, almost, didn't even mind the walk!
After work I popped into Topshop to see if there were any shoes that caught my eye, I wasn't expecting much since I had had no luck in Topshop on finding a dress for Dawn's wedding, I found some shoes almost instantly and although I still have no idea whether they will actually go with the dress, I had to have them!! I was wearing my frilly ankle socks and they looked real cute with the new shoes, so this could be another addition to the outfit!! I am, however, a bit worried about the length of my dress as it's pretty short, which is fine with tights but on a hot day and possibly no tights, I shall have to remember to be a bit more ladylike when picking little Sylvie up and generally bending over! I am still such a tomboy and forget these things!!

Here are the outfits from this Tuesday and Wednesday. Sylvie Belle would not let me put her down in yesterdays photos (first outfit) and I have to tell you about the denim pinafore I am wearing today (second outfit). It was another of our attic finds (clothes Phil and I had hoarded over the years) I bought this dress from a festival when I was 18 years old back in the 1990s, I love hoarding clothes!! I put a big victory roll in my hair today and got lots of compliments on it and three colleagues who want me to put one in their hair. I, of course, said 'yes' I love styling peoples hair up for them, see, I'm not all tomboy y'know!  Watch out for more exciting news at the end of the post!!

So, I got another email from WIWT and I have won another Editors Choice Award!! Yippee!! See the winning outfit below and follow me on WIWT and sign yourself up too. http://wiwt.com/user/NoDebutante/ Thank you WIWT!!!

Ok, I'm off to celebrate with a cup of tea and maybe I can try on those lovely new Topshop shoes with my lovely new Zara dress........You will see the outfit soon enough the wedding is in 3 days!! Sorry to panic you there Dawn if you are reading, but IT IS!! Exciting!!!!
