Midi System

Another favourite skirt length of No Debutante's is the Midi skirt or in this case the 1950s circle skirt. When I purchased my first circle skirt I was well involved in the whole modern vintage / rockabilly look and I had only planned to wear it as a 1950s vintage item matched with 1950s gypsy tops and bustiers for the full blown fifties look. After a while I realised I wanted to wear the skirt more often than for my random vintage summer days and needed to move the circle skirt into the autumn and to fit my more contemporary but haphazard street style wardrobe. I started wearing my circle skirts with tucked in tees, crop tops and even mashed up in a grunge layered style which works well especially in the colder months.

Today you can see a few months worth of circle skirt outfits worn No Debutante style showing you how I wear my circle skirts all year round. Expect fashion mash ups and get inspired.

My circle skirts are from Vivien of Holloway (Day of the Dead print) and Loving Youth X Topshop (plaid print). Modern Vintage Queens Vivien of Holloway have an endless supply of beautiful 1950s circle skirts and it's cool to see Loving Youth remade vintage is still available at Topshop concessions too!

The A Team

I have owned my current A-line skirt for over a year. It's from Topshop and is a little bit too big for me if I'm honest but I just love the cut and the length. Being a fan of A-line skirts I have owned a few of the years, either in mini or midi lengths they have a flattering and retro cut that I love. Whether you are inspired by the late sixties, early seventies or the 90s A-line trend, there are lots of A-line skirts on the high street at the moment and I would definitely recommend checking out thrift shops for midi versions. I am a big fan of the denim A-line skirt but I am loving the St Laurent groupie inspired suede and patchwork versions too. All reputable vintage shops will have a whole rail of these babies available at a price that will match Topshop and Urban Outfitters but will be original 60s and 70s vintage. I would recommend visiting vintage shops to get an original, one off vintage item.

I am loving Alexa Chung's A-line denim mini from her new fashion line and the pale denim 1970s inspired midi version from The White Pepper's Summer 2014 range. Topshop have also launched a great fashion story for their latest collection of 60s / 70s inspired pieces including the denim and suede versions below styled up a treat with snug denim jackets, ankle socks, wedges and long straight retro inspired hair. I love the styling!!!

My outfits show you a few ways I have worn my denim A-line skirt recently. I am  really inspired by the collection of A-line skirt images below so watch this space for more A-line skirt styling and join us in the A-team for more fashion fun!

Rock'n' Roll High School

I have just spent a fantastic weekend in London with some of my bestest friends and after managing to take six hours to get back to Bristol late yesterday afternoon and falling asleep by 8pm last night, I have now landed back to Earth with a bump on the kid fuelled school run this morning followed by shopping for my son Lucian's 10th birthday party for next weekend and baking him a cake for his actual birthday tomorrow! Phew! I need to go back to sleep and I haven't even had my run, wrapped his presents or ordered the shopping delivery! (You didnt think I actually took my three kids to the supermarket did you?) That's the only thing about great weekends the reality of the week is harder to deal with!

Let's look at today's personal style photographs, I always find time for a bit of blogging! It's all about the circle cut midi skirt again today. I am really comfortable wearing my circle skirts these days, so here are three ways I have worn mine over the past few weeks. There is definately a theme with midis and tucked in tshirts for me but I also like to wear crop vests or sleeveless shirts tied at the waist . Ankle socks obligitory! Which do you prefer out of these three looks (in order) Rock' n ' Roller, High School Hop or Geek Chic?

Thanks for following and I shall hopefully be back with you tomorrow for more No Debutante, Fashionista fun!

Maxi, Midi, Mini

I am not restricted to the length of my skirts, Maxi, Midi, Mini, I'll wear them all.

Today's personal style photographs show me wearing a pleated Jersey maxi skirt, a modern vintage circle midi skirt and a short slip dress all great for the spring months here in the UK and very different looks. Which is your favourite?

All clothing from Primark, Vivien of Holloway, Topshop and Converse.

How I Wear......Circle Midi Skirts

Hey Hey! Bloggers and Fashionistas. Hope you had a great weekend? Mine, of course, was rammed with events including a 40th Birthday Party, a wedding party in another city, lots of catching up with old friends and a fun filled time at my club night Bang!! Yes, I am tired but there is always time for a bit of blogging!!

Today I am sharing my love for Circle Midi Skirts. I have always loved them and for Christmas my lovely husband Phil bought me one from my favourite vintage shop Vivien Of Holloway, which you may have seen me wear on my blog before. Since then I have found a second skirt, this time in tartan and from the Topshop concessions label,Loving Youth. I got it for about £11 in the Topshop Spring sale, MEGA BARGAIN!

My only dilemma was how I would wear my Circle skirts? I have circle skirt dresses which are very glamorous and 1950s retro but I want to wear my circle skirts during the day too, dressed down. So, in my aim to make all items of clothing work for any occasion, I have Modern Vintaged the Circle Midi Skirt up in a dressed down style. On these occasions my chosen footwear is a trusty ol' pair of Converse with a sleeveless shirt tied at the waist or a crop top, I found this is the best way to emphasis the waist with these Midi Skirt beauties. Do not forget to emphasis the waist! A circle skirt will emphasis the hips and bottom so you need to nip in the waist to make the look more flattering, a tucked in top would work for the less brave! Now go out there and get yourself a Circle Midi skirt, they are all over the high street, so no excuses!

All clothing from Vivien of Holloway, Topshop, H&M, Converse and Primark.

Thanks so much for following and reading my blog and I hope to be back tomorrow with more fashion fun!

Chanel SS 2014 - Picasso Punks

The Chanel Spring Summer 2014 collection is a coin of two halves for me, on the one side the classic Chanel twin set and pearl signature tweed suits and ladylike chic, the other is a colourful, young, high summer punk rock style which is, of course, what caught my eye, making it one of ( or in this case half of) my favourite Spring Summer 2014 collections.

What do I love about Chanel SS 2014? Well, of course, the bright colour swatch, brush stroke inspired prints caught my eye instantly, followed by the matching Peter Pan collared crop top and skirt suit, I love a crop top and  co-ord separates at the moment so along with the bright prints this outfit ticked all of the No Debutante boxes! I love the 1970s style bandeau mini dress worn with the cute crop cardigan and the billowing printed kaftan both great inspirational looks for a holiday in the sun worn with those over sized 1970s sunglasses and rock' n' roll choppy bob hair.

I like the idea of wearing long socks (below the knee) as an accessory to the look which for me would get a street style make over worn with wedges or converse low tops rather than chic pumps. As I said it is a collection of two halves and I am more inclined to go with the brighter, high summer pieces although I really love the monochrome tee and longer midi skirt and the sixties inspired tea dress with the embroidered lace panel. There is a hint of Country and Western style with the lace panelled midi skirts and pretty lace vest tops which are worn next to the more disco inspired asymmetric tops, there's a lot going on here and I am only showing you my favourite pieces! This isn’t a bad thing however as you know a bit of excessive more is more is something I’m rather partial to and Karl Lagerfeld isn’t a man told hold back. Go Chanel!

Sorry it has been a while since my last post but during the holidays my time is spent with my family and I don't get much spare time to blog!
I hope you have enjoyed today's post and check out the full collection here and let me know you're favourite pieces.
