Pebbles Patch

I really think I need to curl up and hibernate during the winter months, another week, another illness....It is very frustrating!!! I did manage to attend and DJ at my quarterly club night Bang last Friday and thoroughly burned my illness away by enthusiastically dancing for a few hours. Sometimes a night out is just what you need! Whilst at Bang I was chatting to my friend and regular at the club about this very blog post, the lady in question is Janine Curry who has a super cool Bristol UK based, kitsch and retro inspired children's wear label Pebbles Patch.

Pebble's Patch caught my eye with its vintage and retro style fabrics, bright colours, Kawaii cute prints, sixties style baby pinafore dresses and adorable retro printed cuddly toys. As you know, I do love anything vintage and retro inspired and Pebbles Patch's mix of prints, styling and vintage inspired products make you want to own every piece!!

Janine started making little vintage inspired dresses and toys for her daughter Martha (who is a little younger than my daughter Sylvie) in original thrifted 1960s and 1970s fabrics and then decided to start up her own label selling kitsch print baby dresses, handmade cuddly toys, bunting, cushions and even a few prints of her own sixties and seventies inspired illustrations.

Janine has informed me that Pebbles Patch is work in progress and that she hopes to add more children's wear lines for both boys and girls in the future. I was very glad to hear this as my only gripe was that the dresses currently only go up to 18 months old, so I am very excited to think I can dress little Sylvie in a Pebbles Patch dress in the near future!

No Debutante - Winter Grunge V's Rockabilly Mash Up!

Amongst the half term madness I have managed to pop together a personal style post for you, the sun is shining and I have no work worries for a week, things are looking good for me!

Today's personal style outfits are both very different (as usual) I named the first outfit Winter Grunge on Instagram which I think pretty much describes it. I am loving the long layers and the pink hair worn down and I am surprised to see the midriff peeking out from beneath the crop top. I know it's winter but I think I had pulled the skirt up high enough and wrapped up enough layers to keep myself warm. This must have been a dry day since I am wearing my fur coat to work rather than my all weather/ getting caught in the rain whilst pushing a baby buggy duffel coat which I have pretty much worn for the whole winter! I can tell you now that it does not look good worn with my maxi skirt, I attempted it but failed just the other day!

The second outfit was named Rockabilly Mash Up and is one of my more tomboy rockabilly looks worn with a ska t-shirt, skater skirt and a bomber jacket, hence the mash-up. I am rather proud of my victory roll, it looks real teddy boy rather than pin-up girl, it's tough and androgynous, I'm liking it! I never really know how my rockabilly hairstyles are going to work out, it's all a bit trial and error, like most things I do. It makes life more fun and I'd get bored if I didn't act like that.
Which is your favourite look?

All clothing from New Look, Primark, Topshop, H&M, Underground Shoes, Office Shoes and Converse.

The next post will be something a little different from me, to give you a clue it is not a personal style post or my latest fashion crush, it's more for the little fashionistas amongst us.

Thanks for reading and welcome to my new followers, I shall be back real soon with more No Debutante fun!

No Debutante - Teddy Boys and Rockabilly Belles

I love 1950's inspired styling, I am also a bit of a tomboy so I like to be inspired by both the rockabilly pin up style and the more androgynous Teddy Boy inspired side of rockabilly (when  I am in the rockabilly mood that is). Despite my tomboy ways I also love dressing up, doing my hair and generally being girlie and enjoy mixing everything up never setting out to be more boyish or more girlie, it just kind of happens that way.

Today's personal style post is a perfect example of the two ways I wear 1950s inspired outfits and show off my tomboy and girlie sides. Which one do you prefer?

All clothing from Topshop, Vivien of Holloway, H&M and Converse.

Thanks so much for reading, I think I have earned myself a lovely big glass of wine. Cheers!

No Debutante - Ill Communication

Hey Hey Fashionistas! I'm sorry I have been away, I refuse to write a downer post about bad weather, tiredness, illness and general winter blues which has been my life for most of 2014 (and why there has been a serious lack of blogging) but this is not going to make you happy or bring the sunshine out! Let's ignore my ailments and check out what I have been wearing during these wintry months. Bad weather does not mean bad outfits, check out how I dress for winter, bright colours and outrageous day time glamour essential!

The first outfit is very 1950s inspired, with my leopard fur, plaid shirt tied at the waist, 1950s jeans, creepers and Victory roll. The second outfit is more 1980s inspired and you don't get much brighter and more colourful than with my amazing Kuccia Aztec print bomber jacket worn with my Coca-Cola crop top and the 1950s jeans again with Dr Martens and hair in a high topknot and headscarf. I think you'll agree that these outfits certainly brighten up an winters day. It makes me want to like winter again.......well, almost....

All clothing from H&M, Vivien Of Holloway, Primark, Kuccia, Topshop, Dr Martens & Underground Shoes.

Thanks for reading and hello to my new followers.

See you very soon. ND xx

No Debutante - Teddy Girl Tough

Hey Fashionistas! Sorry it's taken me nearly a week to write a new blog post but I have been rather busy visiting my new nephew Albert! He is the cutest little boy and really reminds me of all of my children when they were newborn, I REALLY love a newborn baby but I am just smitten with Albert who is the first child of my brother Mike and his lovely girlfriend Naomi. Congratulations kids!!!! Albert rocks!

Since it's been a while, I thought I would share another personal style post with you today.
I was inspired by the Teddy Girls post that I had written back in October check it out here
and using my own wardrobe including my Vivien of Holloway 1950s jeans, shirts, jackets and an attitude, I recreated my own contemporary version of a Teddy Girl.
I have always been a bit of a tomboy so this wasn't too difficult to pull off, I like the result as I wasn't taking myself too seriously and the photographs are playful as well as Teddy Girl Tough!

 Which look do you prefer?

That was a short and sweet post. I like it when that happens!

All clothing from Vivien of Holloway, Converse, Topshop, Primark & H&M.

Thanks for reading, following and generally being there! You rock!
