Lucy & Yak X Emotional Waterfall dungarees style up

Talk about slow fashion! It's been over a month since my last blog post. Well, it is the school holidays which means ramming in day trips, holidays and games of monopoly in between, my day jobs and my ridiculous amount of hobbies and projects!

I have had this particular blog post in the making for weeks, from the photoshoot, to creating and editing vlogs and here we are, finally! It's time to share the love for not one, but two amazing independent designers....Drumroll please......

The Lucy & Yak X Emotional Waterfall dungarees!

This is such an exciting collaboration between the Brighton based ethical dungaree brand Lucy & Yak (you don't own some Lucy & Yak dungraees yet? Where have you been?) and Bristol's finest, fabulous, kawaii punk artist, Emotional Waterfall

I may be a little biased here, as I am clearly obsessed with both of these inspiring creatives (just watch the vlogs!) so, I thought I would include a little No Debutante magic into the mix and show y'all how I wear my Lucy & Yak X Emotional Waterfall dungarees (whilst adding a fun dress up session using accessories from the depths of the - practically vintage - No Debutante wardrobe!).

Expect a mash up of street and festival style, some surprises and lots of extra independent and sustainable designers. Watch the vlogs below for the full experience.

Sassy Streetwear

Wear them with a belt, without a belt, with the bib hung low or layered up in the classic t-shirt underneath style (Emotional Waterfall t-shirt alert) or with a t-shirt on top (in this case a Duvet Days bespoke crop top) . Here are just four ways to wear 'em showing off that amazing Emotional Waterfall print!

Festival glam mash up!

Step up the festival style and nip in your waist with a Butchi & Gosmos bumbag, pop on a neon crop top, adorn your ears with fabulous Dakota Rae Dust tassel earrings and take it to the next level with a luxurious silk kimono and bright yellow stilettos! (the latter not recommended for festivals). Layer up your Lucy & Yak dungarees with the straps up or down. The possibilities are endless!

Here come the vlogs....

hello DODO crop top challenge

I was super stoked to have been chosen by the cute as kittens, hello DODO designers to rep their fun label. The challenge was to style up one of their cute printed crop tops No Debutante stylee in three different ways.

The hello DODO team of playful printmakers and designers are Jam and Ali from Worthing near Brighton. This creative duo are also married (how cute is this?) and with a mutual love of fun (and self-proclaimed silly) bold graphics, create bright and fun artwork to make people smile. Their products range from cards, pins, patches and of course t-shirts and come in a mix of bright colours and super cute prints (mainly cute animals) with a cheeky little message on each design.

I had no idea which print or colour I was going to get so it was a fun surprise when I landed their Keep on Raven design on a crisp white crop top.

The crop top is a perfect boxy fit and the length is just right too, showing off just enough flesh and is very flattering. It's also a great cut, which is a real important factor for me.  I wear my waists high so this tee pairs nicely with the shorts and trousers, that seem to be my current fashion faves at the mo.

hello DODO are all about colour and fun so they were already right up my fashion street, so challenge accepted and here is what happened.....

Print clash winter fash

The colder it gets the more I want to wear bright colours & bold prints, with the big chill upon us, let's look how we can style up prints, colours & layers this long winter, No Debutante style.

My style is quirky, I throw stuff together to see if it works & mostly it does. I do not take my styling too seriously & I often get inspiration from designers & people who are equally as quirky. It makes for a fun world!

I have been on the look out for printed trousers lately, it is my current obsession. I had some lucky finds at Monki with the polka-dot & striped trousers (see below for these bold printed gems) & today I have resurrected my leopard print leggings (purchased at H&M about 5 years ago).

Leopard print has been all over the AW 2018 fashion shows but I seriously overdid leopard print a few years back, I ended up with a tonne of leopard print everythings, which then put me off it, too much of a good thing really can be too much! It's been a few years now & I have decided to let leopard print back in to life....just a little.....

No Debutante loves these Monk polka-dot trousers paired up with the Fruit Salad red batwing crop hoodie

Bringing leopard print back with print clashed styling & lots of layers

Pirate inspo - Monki stripe trousers worn with an oversized Fruit Salad long sleeve tee

Everyones fave - The amazing polka-dot jumpsuit from The White Pepper

Velvet Goldmine

It was no secret that No Debutante's Christmas seemed to be wrapped in velvet and with the Velveteen blog post being the most popular post of the month in December, let's have a quick look at all the velvety loveliness that I bought to Christmas 2017 before we move on into a new year and new ideas. Of course it isnt real velvet but let's not ruin the fabulous illusion here!

Working the vintage home bar on Christmas Eve in the black Monki mini dress.

Christmas Day - Couldn't get enough of the black mini dress from Monki so got a pink one too! Cheers!

Double love for Zedhead Headwear with my amazing Venus Female symbol pink earrings and super cute pom-pom earrings!

The Tee word

No Debutante loves big, bright and colourful t-shirts. Check a few of the latest looks from the No D wardrobe featuring abstract prints, kawaii imagery and streetwear logos. Just 'cos the winter is coming it doesn't mean you have to neglect your tees, layer them over long sleeve tops especially a skinny polo-neck (a big fashion combo this year) or wrapped up under cuddly cardigans, remember a t-shirt is for life not just for the summer...

Fresh Prints

Hey hey Fashionistas! It's been a busy month for No Debutante, I have met and interviewed Bristol independent Fashion brands True Soldier and the newly opened Recreo for Bristol 24/7, with two more Bristol fashion events coming up in April including the brilliant Fashion Front fashion show and a fashion salvage event with Kecks Clothing for Fashion Revolution Week. Get yourself down to both of these events, No Debutante will be there photographing and documenting whilst interviewing and even helping to judge the fashion salvage competition! Come and join the fashion fun!

No Debutante has also been working on a few projects of her own with local photographers and going back to my fashion designers roots which I am really excited about. Watch this space for more on this.......

What has No Debutante been wearing this April? Still not managing to shake off the tights and layers in this breezy country, I have flooded April with colours and prints to brighten things up! Expect lots of boldly printed shirts, mashed up with sportswear and Dr Martens shoes (my latest treat to myself for working full time). I love to mix smart with sports, try it, it's not as bad as it sounds!

 Fresh Prints of Bel-air

Smart Sports- Mixing shirts and Dr Martens with joggers

When colour clashing I like to add a pair of my favourite Tezla earrings, there are so many colours and styles of Tezla to choose from, there is always a pair to suit any outfit!

My bowl cut hairdo, changes colour by the day, how?? I have my bleached hair coloured pink and as I wash it the Crazy Color slowly fades out leaving random sections pink and washing out of other sections. It goes a lovely fruit salad colour, who needs mood enhance hair colours eh?

I'm still loving Monki's oversized and peplumed dresses, they hang so well and have oversizing just right! I just have to keep going on about them even though I really don't want to big up corporate brands (high street giants H&M own Monki), good styling and cutting just can't be ignored!

Slip dresses, culottes and sportswear will be following me into the summer months, hopefully without so many layers and few more, bare legged opportunities! I'm actually cold whilst I am writing this, come on summer, come and play, spring is being a dick!

Retro Sports (and bare legs eeeek!)

 Culottes and lots of culottes

All clothing from BTR, Adidas, Reebok, Lazy Oaf, Urban Outfitters, Dr Martens, Tezla Designs,  Topshop, The White Pepper, Monki, Vision Streetwear, Primark and Miss 4ire.
