Fashion Crush - Nico Panda

I am always attracted to anti-fashion brands and designers. Creatives who dress unique people with unique style. I have a few higher end designers, by higher end I mean designers who might get their  garms featured in Vogue, not couture, just those anti fashion designers that have somehow broken through the mould, It's not that I think Vogue is on a pedal-stool, I love it for what it is but it really doesn't support independent fashion brands until they have made it or at least have some of Daddy's money behind it...There is still a lot of elitism attached to Vogue but that's a whole different blog post! And...y'know, if Vogue, kinda asked me, to maybe, start writing for them, then, well yeah, I guess, I'd be up for it...

Over the years I have crushed on these high end anti fashion designers including Meadham Kirchhoff, Gosha Rubchinskiy and Ashish but on my current obsession list are Gypsy Sport, Typical Freaks and Nico Panda

Today, I am going to share my fave garms from the latest Nico Panda SS19 collection that was recently shown at New York Fashion Week and a few AW 2018 garms to get us set up ready for when the cold really kicks in! Remember to recreate your fave looks your way, this is for inspiration too!

In brief, Nico Panda is the creation of Japanese/Italian, New Yorker Nicola Formichetti. A NYC streetwear brand that mixes print clashes and bright colours with gender neutral streetwear styling and kawaii-punk style graphics. The mash ups don't end there with influences from grunge to futuristic drag to super cute and fluffy 90s rave, Nico Panda is just amazing! I want it all! Enjoy the show!

Sheer Love

Nothing new here, just a continuing love affair between sheer dresses, t-shirts and kimonos! If you are not up for the full on show your undies sheers, especially in these colder months, why not try adding a sheer top layer to your outfit like GEM's colourful sheer jacket or Neat Frontage's appliqued Kimono? Wear a long sleeve t-shirt over last seasons sheer slip dress with some trousers or leggings underneath, that'll keep you warm but will also add a new layer to your look.

Yeah, the images below are giving off summer vibes but get inspired, how can you make sheers work for you this winter? Sheers can work all year round layered up, have fun with it AND give it a go!

Debbie inspired my outfit....

I am often asked where I get my inspiration from for my styling ideas. How do I plan what I'm going to wear each day, do I just throw an outfit together unplanned or do I carefully pick out my outfit the night before?
Looking at my mash up styling people may think it's a happy accident, since I have never actually bought an item of clothing or an accessory to match with any other item in my wardrobe, they could be right!
Like most people I plan a little & often change my mind last minute. I guess my outfit suits my mood, the weather, how fat I'm feeling, sometimes the outfit has been planned & I have actually gone with the original idea.......I love it when this happens!

I usually start off with an idea, often inspired by an image I have seen that day (nearly always on pinterest). It can be an image from the catwalk, a favourite shops LookBook or a style Icon, even someone I saw in the street.
David Bowie called himself a Magpie, he took ideas from fashion and music and created his own thing from it, I was glad when I read this quote as my brain seems to work in the same way. Plus David Bowie is another of my long loved style icons, who has inspired me so much with his style and music, just like Debbie Harry.
The idea is not to take a look so literally, don't copy the whole look, take your favourite parts & then mix it up with your style or (for the more brave) another look that has currently caught your eye, it then becomes yours & you can either run with it or not. Have fun with experimenting, don't be afraid to break the mould.

For today's outfit I was inspired by a couple of  Debbie Harry images, Debbie is one of my biggest style icons who I love so much that the No Debutante name (for those who didn't know) came from one of Blondie's songs. So, did I copy the whole look? Nope. I looked at her hairband, thought it looked great, decided I would look ridiculous, then found myself putting the headband on Debbie style, instantly liked it, forgot it was on my head, then wore an oversized black tshirt similar to the outfit Debbie was wearing in the second image, paired it with some tights for Autumn & some black Gazelles & that's it.

The conclusion.....the outfit became my most liked outfit on social media for a while, which I would call a success. It wasn't a full on three style mash up, just a very chic rock'n'roll look thanks to the beautiful Debbie Harry & her headband and black outfit.

Bloggers I love! - Haru in Wonderland - The Agent of Anarchy

Enough about me and what I've been wearing, here's a post about another one  of my favourite fashion bloggers. I first found this blogger when I joined Asos Fashion Finder over a year ago, she was a regular personal style poster at the time and I loved her look, although like me, she has not used Asos Fashion Finder for a while, I personally do not use it as much as the process is very long winded with minimal results. Perhaps this is the same for Haru.
As her name suggests Haru in Wonderland is (even more) obsessed with Japanese street style and Harajuku girls than me, she is originally from Prague and currently studies Japanese at Oxford University. Like Susie Bubble, she has a quirky, personal look all of her own, Haru mixes Harajuku girl Kawaii, goth punk, 1960s retro and street style into a cute but dark melting pot of style. She is tiny and looks like a doll, very Twiggyesque. I am like a big giant next to her (I would imagine) but I love this girls style. Here are some of my favourite looks from Haru's blog 'The Agent of Anarchy'. There were so many to choose from!!
Check it out here for more looks http://wonderlandharu.blogspot.co.uk

Oh! Did I forget to mention Haru is obsessed with the fashion label BOY, you may have noticed! If she isn't getting sponsored by BOY she really should be, she wears it well!! I just went on the BOY website, very image heavy, I feel some Pinterest pins and a new post coming on!

Thanks for reading.
