No Debutante - Pretty RIOT

My style is mostly a mix of girlie girl and tomboy androgyny, I have no reign on this and sometimes it is ultra girlie and other times I am one of the boys. I do not dress for my mood, I can be an angry riot grrrll all dressed up pretty or a tomboy talking about make up and kawaii style. I do however get constant inspiration from the people around me and whatever my current obsessions may be at that time.

Today my personal style outfits feature denim and elements of skinhead style both looks have the Pretty Riot Grrrlll style going on!

The first outfit features my H&M skater shirt dress worn with my denim waistcoat, tube socks and Dr Martens to give it a tough edge. There is something a little tough about wearing a dress with Dr Martens and no tights, I think it's the fact that you are exposing your legs but not in a provocative way, it's more of a 'yeah, I have bare legs, so what?' Nobody messes with you!  On a more femme note my hair was centre parted with asymmetric twists and plaits keeping things girlie and grunge.
The second outfit is a bit more tough and androgynous. I am wearing my denim and lace panelled sleeveless shirt, denim cut offs and my new favourite Topshop airforce bomber jacket. My hair looks is plaited and pinned up in a messy, just got out of bed look, the total opposite of the way I used to wear my hair up, where perfection was key! I like the 'I did it myself ' look to an up do these days and with the masses now perfecting the beehive it's a case of anything goes! Don't be scared to try out new styles, who's judging??

Which is your favourite look?

No Debutante - Live Fast

Well, I am back from yet another short break away from the hustle and bustle of city life, on this occasion I have just returned from a long weekend away camping in Devon with my family, which doesn't come without it's own hassles but it's great to be outdoors with Phil and the kids on a rather unexpected sunny camping trip! What I haven't told you is that we had to put the tent up in the dark, my Mum did her back in, plus other mishaps but that would ruin the romantic illusion of my perfect family camping holiday, wouldn't it?

Let's take a look at today's outfits. I had been influenced to bring out my very British punk and skinhead style by some images I had collected on Pinterest, even though Punk and skinhead style seems to be all over the place this Autumn Winter, judging by Topshop and of course Dr Martens campaigns and the AW catwalks trends. Punk and Skinhead style never really goes away for me, I have been into these 1970s British scenes since I was a kid, I was born in 1976 the year of Punk, so it's my duty to love it! Only a punk girl would have an Xray Spex record as the backdrop of her blog, wouldn't she?

The first outfit I wore the day after DJing at my club night Bang, I was happy that I woke up without a shocking hangover and felt in the mood to wear my ridiculous shoes! The outfit is pretty contemporary with my rainbow platform wedges (ridiculous shoes), American Apparel tube socks (1970s skate style) and denim cut offs with a new wave Gang of Four tee tucked in, this isn't sounding that contemporary, as it's pretty 1970s based again with new wave, retro skatewear and platform boots and to top it off my new skinhead inspired Topshop khaki bomber jacket. The only thing that makes this outfit contemporary is that I have chosen to wear it all together! What do you think?

The second outfit is a little punk inspired but it's also about the attitude with punk and skinhead style. I am giving a bit of attitude in these photos, I really don't have to try hard my face seems to sit comfortably in a frown! I have quiffed my hair up at the front and have tied the back up, I'm quite liking this style at the moment, it's a little edgy and a little bit girlie. I rolled up the skull tee to make it a crop top and let my cut offs hang down a bit, I opted to wear my Topshop leopard print sandals instead of Dr Martens boots since the weather is still good here in the UK, I cannot waste the sunshine and the sandals helped to soften the look down a bit.

So, do I have a punk inspired lifestyle to Live Fast and Die Young? I did have when I was much younger, things change when you have kids and get older, I am more of a Live Fast (providing you do go on holiday lots, have a few spa treatments and drink lots of red wine) and Die old ( but until then continue to act like you are living fast and dress like you are still young).
Get Punk and skinhead inspired now!!

Thanks for reading and hello to my new followers, I am always very excited to get new followers!! Please leave comments and let me know what you all think.

The next post shall hopefully include some new product reviews. Watch this space!

No Debutante - Hot in the city

Today is a school run day and my eldest son, Lucian, had a fashion faux pas this morning, he was all dressed up in his basketball kit for sports week but to his horror, no other kids were, poor chap! He took it on the chin though and his Dad did run some spare school uniform in for him, just in case he wanted it. Lucian’s friend Max had also done the same thing but they were the only ones! It can be devastating for a kid to not be the same as everyone else, even though I seem to go out of my way to not ‘fit in’, I remember it well. On this occasion I blame the school for not giving out definite info on how they should dress.

Today’s look is pretty tough, I’m still getting influences from skinhead style wearing Dr Martens with white sports socks, rolled up leopard print leggings and my denim waistcoat, It was actually raining when we took the photos so I am still wearing a coat everywhere I go! It’s no wonder I don’t know how to dress when I am in a hot country, I’m simply not used to not having to wear loads of layers!! I will try and put some research into what to wear this year as most of my outfits are not really for the beach and I stand out, but not in a good way – who’s conforming now??! I guess I have to be honest with myself, my look is very much edgy, street style, I belong in the city, bohemian, I am not. I look wierd in the countryside for god sakes let alone fitting in on a beach!! Please come soon Ibiza holiday, I need the beach.......and some holiday fashion inspiration fast!

Can you imagine this look on the beach?? I didn't think so!

Thanks for reading!

No Debutante and Mark Sewell Bristol Photoshoot Collaboration

.............And.......I'm back in the room........This is my first blog post for nearly a month, I have been really poorly, tired, worn out but soldiering on and definitely paying the price of being a busy mother of three, DJ and blogger, not to mention my day job! When illness hits us, it hits hard, with a very poorly and teething (yes, a double whammy of fun) baby, two very energetic boys and no sleep whatsoever AND two clubs nights, I have pretty much been a zombie of late, going to bed at 8pm (on the non DJing nights, of course).
I am glad to say that I actually got a full nights sleep last night, thanks to my beautiful little baby Sylvie Belle who is finally on the mend and turned 1 years old last week (I'm still in shock about that too, it's gone ridiculously quick!) Happy Birthday Sylvie Belle!!! I love you xxxx

Following my last blog post, better late than never, I had mentioned there would be a collaboration between No Debutante and the photographer Mark Sewell (my friend from the Dr Martens Bristol Shop Launch event - he took the pictures of Me and Rudi at the event). Well this did happen and I am (finally) pleased to share with you my favourites images from the photo shoot.
The theme for the photo shoot is basically quite raw and I guess urban, for want of a better word, It is a very British look. It was shot in my hometown (well, adopted hometown of the past 10 years) of Bristol, here in the UK. The area is Stokes Croft which is close to where I live and has some great graffitti including the iconic Mild, Mild, West Banksy mural. The styling was influenced by Dr Martens/ skinhead style / This is England, mixed with my own personal style. I am also a massive lover of these influences and the music that goes with them including Ska and two-tone. Please use these as a soundtrack whilst browsing through the photographs!

I hope you like the photographs which were all taken by Mark Sewell, styling and model No Debutante. Enjoy!

Aahh! Beautiful Sylvie Belle with Mummy (mid fashion shoot and a quick break at Boston Tea Party on Stokes Croft).

All photographs by Mark Sewell.
All clothing from Topshop, H&M, Primark, army surplus stores, Fred Perry and Dr Martens.

I had forgot to mention that Mark and I had decided to include Dr Martens into the photo shoot in hope of winning a pair on the Dr Martens facebook page, which encourages you to Share Your Style. Follow this link and share yours too and win yourself a new pair of Docs!https://apps.facebook.com/dmstyle/contests/305119/entries/new

A massive, great big thank you to Mark Sewell for his time and fabulous photography, I look forward to our next collaboration very soon!!!

So, which photograph shall I upload for Share Your Style? Watch this space to see if I'm successful! ND xx
