Peskimo, Pandas and Custard Creams

Driven by a love of robots, kittens and evil monkeys Peskimo designers Jodie and David create super cute characters and illustrations that never fail to make me smile! Jumping from Japanese kawaii, anime to vintage Miffy style adorableness and a Great British 'how do you do' element to their artwork Peskimo create a fun, cute and colourful world.

The Bristol based artists prints and illustrations have been adorning screen printed t shirts, children's books, billboards, magazines, interactive media and nightclub walls since 2004 as part of Bristol's bubbling creatives scene.

New for 2017 Peskimo have launched a range of the cutest wooden brooches and enamel pins ever and have asked to collaborate with the No Debutante blog mixing kawaii cute with bright prints, colours and fun! From sleeping cats on 1950s furniture, custard cream biscuits, happy Pandas, sleepy lions and snug as a bug ladybirds, check out the cutest Peskimo shop  and stay cute and happy!

Peskimo Wedding Fun!

My lovely friends and local kawaii lovin' illustrators Jodie and David - aka Peskimo -  just got hitched (well, a month ago) and they kindly invited Me and my clan to join them to celebrate at their wedding Party. The bride and groom looked fabulous as did the wedding decor (I would expect no less from these creative art rockers) It was a great British do with handmade hanging decorations & bunting, homemade cakes, Peskimo vintage inspired transfer tattoos and lots of enthusiastic dancing. My eldest son Lucian loves dancing and rocked out with a very enthusiastic and highly intoxicated Uncle Mike which was half the coolest thing ever and half hilarious (Uncle Mike being the latter). We all had a great time and ended the night with a good ol' British knees up. I think the photos speak for themselves.....Thanks to my good friend Paul Channing - for letting me use the last seven photographs in the post, I think you successfully captured the moment!

Before we get to the photographs from the wedding party itself I, of course, have to show you what I wore and I also managed to get my brothers (Uncle Mike's) girlfriend Naomi to pose for a couple of shots too. These photographs were taken on my Samsung Galaxy phone in the toilets at Beeses Bar (oh the glamour!) unfortunately they are not the best quality so I have shown you the best ones! I thought Naomi looked rockabilly cool, she is half way through her pregnancy and is working it! Naomi is also sporting the cute home made Peskimo tattoos which I think she should consider getting made into real tattoos! OMG, my tattoo day is getting closer!!!!!

My personal style photographs were taken at home in my garden using  a much better camera!
I had managed to try out a more complicated victory rolled up hair style on my freshly coloured pink hair and I am pretty happy with the results! I wore the dark floral skater dress from Zara, originally bought for Phil's sister Dawn's wedding back in June. Dark florals are a big thing for AW 2013 too, which is a spot of luck! As you can see, the weather had cooled down a bit so dark floral dresses, black tights and shoes with a cute cardigan topped off with victory rolls and a flower in your hair, was the way to go for us ladies. (We did not plan this, honest!).

I bloody love a wedding!! Why do they always come in fours?? Thanks to everyone who got hitched this year and invited us to join them and a Massive Congratulations!! You all rock!

Thanks for reading and following. More personal  style pics to follow.

No Debutante - Art Rock

Last night I DJ'd and danced (a lot) at my club night Bang. There was a great atmosphere and I love it when the crowd are really up for dancing and cheer when you put a certain record on and cheer again when the record ends, it was one of those nights last night and certainly makes all the efforts (and stresses) that go into putting an event on worthwhile!!!

Luckily for me, my good friend and hairstylist Vikki Mac was our babysitter for the evening so I got a fabulous new look before I got to the club, I totally recommend using hair stylists as babysitters!! Vikki Mac is used to me asking her for a new look when she babysits and always has a thousand ideas, which I love! Thanks Vikki Mac!! You Rock!

The look for the evening is a mish mash of  a rockabilly, skinhead and cartoon character which pretty much sums me up for the evening retro tough and day-glo cute!

The second outfit is from today, my hangover outfit I should say, surprisingly I did not have a hangover which I am still a bit smug about! We managed to pop over to the Arts Trail that my good friends Jodie and David (aka Peskimo) were taking part in, they turn their front room into a small art gallery/ shop and anyone can come and view the art and hopefully buy it too! I love Peskimo's style, very Japanese influenced and cute, we already own a few Peskimo prints and purchased more today ( I feel a Peskimo post coming on) and the boys got some cute character keyrings, which they love. Thanks for the art Peskimo!!

Let's get on with the images, I have lots to show you.

These last images are from the Peskimo pop up shop and art gallery, the last two images are displays of Peskimo toy and character collections, I think you can see why I love Peskimo!! Check out Peskimo here http://www.peskimo.com/ and get collecting!

The Relay Rips - Clementine Valentine NEW ALBUM

I'm very excited to announce that The Relay Rips (my husband Phil's band) are about to release their new album 'Clementine Valentine' which follows their debut album 'Oh Touche' from 2010.
The title track is one of my favourites, a story of young love, which reminds me of a low-fi  Graham Coxon style record with it's sweet story telling vocals and melodic guitars. I love the tongue in cheek story of the upbeat 'Two women on my Mind', 'Chevrons' is fantastic with inspired lyrics making it no ordinary love song and is, frankly, just asking to be part of a film soundtrack! My favourite record from the album is 'I don't wanna be your boy' a classic bit of skiffle-punk, a little bit rockabilly a little bit Bow Wow Wow - I want candy! There's even a bit of a burlesque/ Gypsy Rose Lee inspired horns at the beginning adding some retro provocateur. I love it! There is, of course, a more grown up side to the album as all of The Rips are great musicians and know exactly what they want from their records but for me I love the way the songs on this album seem punk inspired, a little naive at times, as if a kid was singing them to you. It takes you back to being a teenager and young love without the skin problems, nagging parents, curfews and angst fuelled hormones.

Clementine Valentine shall be released on Club Bang Records on 14th September. Available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Fear Of Fiction and in store at Rise Records, Bristol.
Clementine Valentine mostly recorded and mixed at Toybox Studios, Bristol http://www.toyboxstudios.co.uk/

Meadham Kirchhoff - My favourite collection from SS2012

Now that we are finally approaching Spring, it's time to show you my most favourite Collection for the season. I am late blogging about Spring Summer 2012 comapared to most Fashion bloggers but hey, I am not most fashion bloggers! It's not about being the first for me, I only blog about the things I like (or hate on some occassions) I won't be mentioning every show, every season, just the ones that catch my eye or like the Meadham Kirchhoff SS12 Collection, really excite and inspire me!
How can I start to big up this collection???  The colours, the styling, the prints........I just love it all. It's completely unwearable for most people but I am loving it and will show how I shall be (attempting to) wearing it this year!
It's 70s retro, 60s dolly bird, Harajuku girl, kitsch, cute and a little bit mad! You can see why I love it!

Teddy bear pockets on a turquoise blue mini skirt anyone? Look at the candy floss hair and fluffy wedges? Love it!
Not only is this tee super cute but I have a history with this print. The lamb transfer was on my dolls cot when I was little. My Grandad made it for me. I then discovered another dolls cot at Phil's parents house (it was Phil's sister Dawn's dolls cot - not Phil's, incase you were wondering) which was also made by Phil's Grandad, with the same transfer! So much for individuality!!! I guess every cot had the lamb on it in the UK during the 1970s! I love it, just the same!
Oh, and despite me rather disliking slogan tshirts ' Riot Not Diet' is one of my mottos!

Loving the cardigan with the eyes, I do love a bright cardi and this one is fabulous! Teamed with layers of shorts and bloomers (all my favourites and a new thing to try) big white sunglasses, clashing prints, ridiculous bright doll like make-up and candy coloured hair. I think this collection was just made for me!

Cute shorts and skirts are in this Summer!! Yey!! Get yours in bright colours, clashing prints and textures and team with bright tights or socks. This would be especially useful in the UK where the chances to wear no tights and shorts are very limited due to it always being so bloody cold!

Look at these nails?? Are you looking? LOOK!! Retro prints, Japanese style kitsch prints and cartoon vaginas! (that is what that is, isn't it? )

The images remind me of my childhood (the 1970's half) and are also very 'Antoni and Alison' who were my favourite designers during the 1990s. I had loads of stuff from their shop with these type of retro prints on. I must blog them on here some day. Anyway to see what they have been up to in 2000's look here www.antoniandalison.co.uk I dont think they have updated their site for a while though, which is a shame!

The little Japanese-esque hearts remind me of Peskimo illustrations and prints. Peskimo are local artists from here in Bristol, I have a few of their prints (which I must blog soon) I am also very lucky to be good friends with Peskimo and my baby girl Sylvie was lucky enough to receive a Knitted Bunny from them as a gift! Thanks Peskimo! find them here www.peskimo.com
I am very excited about this....These nail wraps are soon to be available by Nail Rock at Topshop for a limited period from Mid February! I am so on it! If i don't get them I will die! Yes, slightly dramatic there but I really want 'em!! They had me on the packaging if I'm honest!

Pinafores with Teddy bear and heart bibs, A-line mini dresses over shirts. Poly Styrene from X-ray Spex (and one of my style icons) would rock this collection, especially this blue dress and check shirt above.

I love the cute kitsch bright knits, tutus, shorts, bloomers.

Pastel fur coats!!!!! I have one of these in candy pink, I made it myself for one of the Hoochie Coochie shows I was DJing at. Again, I need to blog this! The Compare for the night told me I looked like a Glam Muppet....Which I took as a compliment, of course!

As a final image here are the sugar almond Courtney Love dolls! You have to love them! They add a 90's element to a mostly 1960's and 70's styled collection, just to add to the toylike mash up that is the Meadham Kirchhoff Spring Summer 2012 Collection.

Now you see why I love it??
All images are sourced from Google images, I do not make a claim to taking any photographs, I'm sure it is obvious that I didn't. I will credit everyone that I can.

Next blog?? Hmm! Good question, well I have soooo much I want to blog I need to prioritise what I want to put up next, I'm also joining Pinterest which will be more for me to think about, Oooohh! So much to say, so little time! I really should do a catch up with all the things I mention and then say I should blog about. I can't decide now....Watch this space xx
