I Love......Bomber Jackets

I have noticed that I have quite a collection of Bomber Jackets on my Pinterest fashion board, my conscious interest in the bomber jacket started with the TLG magazine I picked up a few months ago, there were several fashion stories with Bomber Jackets in and I certainly got a liking for them. I have included some of the images from TLG here as well as images from bloggers I follow, Tokyo street style and my favourite bombers from the High Street. The bomber jacket, for me, is a move on from the military khaki jackets you can pick up everywhere now (although I love all my army jackets and they never really go out of style as they have a cult status) I prefer to wear mine big and slouchy and I will probably get an army surplus jacket and pick up any extra bombers I like or can afford until I feel I have enough. I am proud to say that I haven't bought an oversized cardigan for about a year now....See I can control this obsessive buying! Can't I?

Oversized raver style Bomber jacket with Ganesh print from WIA Warriors Lookbook SS 2013 (I really want this jacket but it may be a bit out of my price range! This Bomber was also first spotted in TLG Magazine so thanks to them for the inspiration).

Here's my favourite fashion blogger Susie 'Style Bubble' in her RWB AW13 bomber jacket. In very similar colours to the WIA Warriors Bomber.

Street style Printed Bomber Jackets featuring the Versace X H&M  bomber from SS 2012 also seen below.

Aztec and Denim Varsity Bomber Jackets from Topshop SS 2013
H&M quilted bomber jacket. I love this jacket and it is only £35 but has sold out in all sizes but a Size 10 and I wanted it in the biggest size they do which is a Size 16 (and not nearly big enough) I want my bomber to be as big as the WIA Warriors one above!!! Great value though, I am not surprised it sold out.

The original Army Surplus classic bomber jacket with orange lining - Love it!!

My birthday is coming up and I want one of these jackets!! Watch this space to see if I get my birthday wish! Which one's your favourite??

Thanks for reading.

My Style Icons - Part 3 - Poly Styrene

I mentioned punk in my last post so I thought it linked nicely onto my next Style Icon, her name is Poly Styrene and she was the lead vocalist for punk band X-Ray Spex. I love punk but not in the obvious contrived Punk way, I do not have safety pins in my face, wear bondage trousers or sport a mohican. I love the music and play alot of punk at my club night Bang, especially X-Ray Spex. I would describe my punk style as Punk Pop, I am influenced by the 50s styling that also heavily influenced Punk but I wouldn't say I am into the bondage styling too much, I love mixing punk with colourful pieces, militaria and costume accessories, I think it was named the Supermarket of style during the 90s, but it allows you to follow the seasonal trends whilst adding your Pop Punk/toy like edge to it, the Japanese are great at it but the first woman of Punk Pop for me, is the late, great, day-glo punk toy Poly Styrene. Braces on the teeth and pure punk pop attitude with her pop culture political mixed lyrics........'oh bondage....up Yours!'

Poly Syrene wearing what looks like a Fried Breakfast print dress, white leggings and polo neck and some white pointy kitten heels, wish I had this picture in colour. I have added a few of Poly Styrene's lyrics that are pop/ fashion based just for fun, I like the childlike / teenage view of life mixed with tounge in cheek politics, it's all in the delivery, you need to listen to the music.

When I put on my make-up
The pretty little mask not me
That's the way a girl should be
In a consumer society

ART-I-FICIAL - Xray Spex

Perfect example of Poly Styrene wearing a pop punk version of militaria, check out the braces.

He's the rebel on the underground
She's the rebel of the modern town

WARRIOR IN WOOLWORTH'S - Xray spex

There is nothing particularly glamourous about this one, I just like it for the girl next door look.

WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR
DO YOU SMASH IT QUICK
DO YOU TAKE THE GLASS
AND SLASH YOUR WRISTS
IDENTITY -Xray Spex

Pop punk vocalist for Xray Spex during the 1970s, looking like a mix between Johnny Rotten and Bootsy Collins.

I am a poseur and I don't care
I like to make people stare
I AM A POSEUR - Xray Spex

You don't get much more pop than Smash Hits do you? Loving the childlike earrings and militaria, oh and the braces!
Look at Poly Styrene's outfit, it's like a short leather granny dress, actually it reminds me of the outfit Alex's Mum weras in A Clockwork Orange, infact it's nearly identical! The rest of the band seem to be in futuristic bondage outfirs too, sex was never really an issue with Xray Spex, it was more of a playful punk look. I have clearly nicked this image from google images, it still has a proofing mark on it, nice! All images on this post are from Google images.

One more step over the line, a more extreme outfit here, a futuristic, pop, air-raid shelter safety officer look, the braces are off, I miss them!

I clambered over mounds and mounds
Of polystyrene foam
And fell into a swimming pool
Filled with fairy snow
And watched the world turn day-glo

THE DAY THE WORLD TURNED DAY-GLO - Xray Spex

The cover of one of my favourite albums ever by my beloved X-ray Spex - Germfree Adolescents, you have to listen to it, it's a punk pop classic. I remember some journalist on TV saying ' who on earth sits at home listening to Xray Spex these days?' Well I shall tell you, old punk journalist.....ME! Look at this day glo cover, the boys are wearing those towelling neon socks that seemed to be everywhere in the late 70s and early 80s, you usually wore two different colours if you had any style sense about you.....

You may get to touch her
If your gloves are sterilised
Rinse your mouth with listerine
Blow disinfectant in her eyes
GERM FREE ADOLESCENTS - Xray Spex

Where shall we have the next publicity shot taken? By the bin? Good idea.......i'll get in it....

Poly Styrene is not your typical Style Icon but then again, I am not a typical girl, always looking outside the box. It's not all about beauty and glamour in fashion. I like to mix and mix (not match) styles, dressed down one minute and dressed UP the next. I think about what I am going to wear each day, oh and combine this with whatever is clean or, in my current state, whatever still fits.....Punk pop all the way!

You've got your Mother in a whirl, cos she's not sure if you're a boy or a girl...

My current obsession is what's happening in the shops for the new season Autumn Winter 2011-12. I have had a look around and have come up with a few different looks that are high on my fashion agenda for the coming season. Although today has to be one of the hottest days of the year, I, am busy looking for my Winter Wardrobe. I have clearly put aside that I am actually 7 months pregnant for the moment so I can dream of what I can wear post-pregnancy body. I can get a few pieces now and then add to it after my baby is born in November (probably December, if my track record is anything to go by). So I'm really excited about the Androgynous (a look I can usually carry off) one of the boys, girls who are boys...etc..looks that is very prominant this A /W. I also love Asos and Topshops campaigns for this look on their websites, the styling is great, I had to include it.

Let's start with this cute teddy boy look from Topshops A/W 2011/12 Collection. I think they labelled it New Mod, but have to disagree it's more influenced by 50s  or Punk than Mod. The cute quiff in the hair, the crop cardigan over a high button shirt, ankle grazer trousers in Garnet  - a big colour this season, white socks and my favourite bit, the brothel creepers. I am deffo gonna get me some of these!
The second look from Topshop A/W 2011/12 collection. Im loving the ribbon neck tie and the polka dot ankle grazers, these are not available at Topshop online yet, I hate it when they give you teasers of pieces on the website but never come up with the goods to actually buy. Not that I can fit into them at the moment, but that's not the point....rant over....Polka-dots are massive this season BTW as is emerald green, two ticks for these trousers, that you cant actually buy yet....
This look is available from Asos and is part of their A/W 2011/12 campaign. Really like the Crombie jacket, which is a new length for this season, I want one of these coats, trousers perhaps a little too tight for my liking but they are in the new garnet A/W colour. These shoes are a more girlie option of the brothel creeper for those who just can't / won't do the full on brothel creeper.
This style of hat has been doing the rounds for a few seasons now for boys and girls but it still looks great with this look. A more colourful version of the 3/4 length coat. All from Asos.
The coat looks really cool in this one, I still interested in beige, unbelievable! Asos again.
I love these 3/4 length cardigans, they have also been kicking around for a few seasons but I never want them to leave! I buy mine in extra large so they swamp me and can be worn as coats, they look good with everything in my opinion. This look reminds me of some Mod, psyche
boys I used to know who clashed paisley patterned shirts with front button tweed ankle grazers, it
sounds terrible but I thought it looked great.
Aaah! the old jumper over shirt look, it's been around for years, reminds me being a Brit -pop girl.

Although I'm not a fan of sleeveless shirts ( I was totally appalled by those sleeveless jackets from last S/S Season) I am a fan of leopard print, I think this Topshop A/W 2010/12
shirt would look great with some, ankle grazers and a pair of brothel creepers.
Talking of Brothel Creepers, I have been quietly considering a pair of these for a few years, now they're all over the place, I can't say no. They will definately be my next purchase (pregnancy not interferring with the size of my feet) the only trouble is, now there's too much choice. Here's a few of them. These red lovelies are from Topshop online.
Blue suede shoes, I love these ones from topshop online.
Hey, you're not brothel creepers! Oh thats right you're leopard print, you can
stay.....in my wardrobe. Leopard print lace up lovelies from River Island A/W 2011/12.
A boot version, love it, very Tokyo-ite. Black brothel creeper boots from Office online.
Black suede brothel creeper boots with animal print upper panel from Office Online
 These are contenders!
These remind me of the 80s revival of brothel creepers, you saw alot of these when I
was a kid. Didnt Ducky have them in Pretty in Pink?? I think he did! Yey!
This is a campaign shot i found on line for D&G A/W 2011/12. I choose it for the braces and it reminds me of Madonna's Vogue video. FIN
