That Thing AW 18 Launch Party

Streetwear and lifestyle queens That Thing dropped their AW18 fashion collection yesterday.

Bristol really supports it's independents and this launch party was full of fashionistas, friends and customers checking out the new collection and hanging out with the That Thing girls whilst Bristol's Bitch Please DJ's provided the soundtrack for the night. There was even a queue outside to get in!

Inspired by the mossy greens of the designer, Joh Rindom's, Scandinavian homelands, this collection features warm earthy tones of forest and fern greens, creamy golds and a black contrast.  The collection comes in cuddly knits, lurex sparkled tops and super soft jerseywear pieces, perfect for the winter months whilst adding a bit of glam for that sparkly Christmas season that is rapidly approaching.

"I was really deep nature inspired so we have a lot of soft textures and darks greens and black, a real comfort feel for autumn/winter".  Joh Rindom - That Thing

Joh was resourceful in her pattern cutting with this collection. By combining the top half of one design and the bottom half of another, she created block paneled garms that also reduced fabric waste. You know how we love a bit of sustainability here at No Debutante!

No Debutante's fave pieces included the luxe double trumpet sleeve t-shirt dress, the super-soft unisex trackies, and this years streetwear staple - the bucket hat. Now what to add to my Christmas list this year?

The AW18 collection is currently available in the Stokes Croft shop in Bristol and will be available online alongside the Lookbook shortly. Watch this space.

Bright Young Things

As we drift through the summer festival season considering your next festival outfits let's get inspired and take a look at the fabulous festival must haves that are currently available at That Thing on Bristol's creative quarter Stokes Croft.

That Thing are very close to No Debutante's heart, they support Bristol creatives and are great gals. Recently That Thing have been shortlisted for The Drapers Records Independent Awards 2017 and have been nominated for not one but two awards in the Lifestyle independent of the year and The Young fashion independent of the year categories! Which is just amazing that a Bristol collaborative has been noticed and taken seriously in the fashion industry, the results are to be announced in September at the Drapers Independents awards ceremony. To the lovely That Thing gals, No Debutante wishes you all the luck in the world. I really think you can do this, IT IS AMAZING!

Watch this space for more info on the Drapers awards but for now take a look at the festival fun at That Things festival fashion launch party and drool over all the festival wonderfulness! The colours and displays will make your eyes POP!

There are so many local designers showcasing their work at That Thing who are pioneers in supporting the Bristol indies including Neat Frontage, Zedheads Headwear, Dulcies Feathers, Kokomo, Emotional Waterfall and newcomers to the Bristol fashion scene Insane in the rain who produce amazing sustainable raincoats from recycled bottles and plastics, that come in the most fun and contemporary cool prints ever, WANT!!! Watch this space for more on these guys!

A passion for fashion - Bristol 24/7

Spring has been a very busy month for No Debutante and Bristol fashion. With the fabulous Fashion Front show, fun filled Revamp Restyle Reuse and the launch of streetwear queens That Thing's Spring Summer collection and still another event with the Fashion Front Bzzaar on the horizon plus a few kick ass Bristol gigs chucked in here and there, Spring has certainly sprung big time!

Here's quick flashback to the beginning of the year when the Creative Youth Network created and inspiring range with young Bristol creatives and No Debutante shared the Bristol fashion love as Fashion Editor for Bristol 24/7.

Young people with a passion for fashion have been taught practical skills in upcycling, visual merchandising and styling with an aim to start a fashion portfolio. Read more here

Fantastic Fashion Front 2017

The fantastic Fashion Front fashion show returned to Bristol on Thursday 20th April. This year the show brought to us by the amazing Fran Rennison and the Tail End team mixing marvellous creations by many of our wonderful Bristol fashion designers including Neat Frontage, Laa Woof and Puckoo Couture, with a selection of upcycled and handmade items by a group of young people suffering from mental health problems in association with OTR (Off The Record). This was a vibrant and fun-filled fashion show that Bristol should be very proud of, move over London....Or is that move here from London??

This year's Fashion Front show didn't disappoint with even more amazing creations from all of the fabulous fashion designers (named below) with outrageous and spontaneous fashion models who added to the Bristol swagger, this show was off the hook!

Many of the garments from the show (and more) shall be available at the Fashion Front Bzaarr this weekend, so get down there, grab yourself some one-off, creative garms and support local!
