Winter Layering In Denim & Plaid

Hey Fashionistas! I love to tomboy it up in denim and plaid, whether its a rockabilly inspired dungarees, skate tee, creepers and plaid shirt or a modern vintage crop top and 1950s jeans look. I can girl it up and down, depending how I am feeling........On this particular day, when I wore the rockabilly dungarees ensemble, I wasn't feeling too great, this was the first day I hadn't worn PJs for about a week after that damn Christmas flu bug attempted to finish me off the week before Christmas. My heart wasn't totally into choosing an outfit but this look is always a win win for me, so I didn't really have to think about it. After the week of PJs, dungarees and a plaid shirt seemed the next closest thing. So, I got all dressed up and braided my hair but couldn't face the make up (hence me hiding my face for the photographs) I still wasn't feeling one hundred percent but thought my outfit looked cool and should be documented for the blog. I am not a big beauty girl who perfects her make up or attempts to look beautiful, it's all about the clothes and hair for me, if my face looks OK then that's a bonus!

The modern vintage second outfit is one you have seen before here at the No Debutante blog but it is one of my go to outfits, I needed to wear a long sleeve as I was cold, a crop top if you're cold you may ask? My 1950s jeans are high on the waist and I had the plaid shirt layered over too so only a tiny bit of skin showing on my upper torso. The thing I will never understand in the cold, winter months are people with no socks on??? It makes me shiver even considering it. What is wrong with these people??? These second images were taken in my new loft bedroom, I am loving the amount of light in the loft and the white walls make it a perfect room for taking photographs. I have even shared a close up selfie of my face, a very rare thing for this blogger, I can tell you!

Which is your favourite look?

No Debutante Vs Marc by Marc Jacobs SS 2015

Get inspired by London Fashion Week for Spring Summer 2015. Today No Debutante gets inspiration from the Marc at Marc Jacobs SS 15 show with monochrome layering, over sized tees and cute top knots in her mermaid hair.
The Dress worn in the personal style pics is by Phlem, an early 2000s fashion label by No Debutante! Hoard Everything!!!

Recreating catwalk styles can seem a bit daunting and expensive, it needn't be. The secret to recreating your own versions of catwalk looks is to use as many existing items already found in your wardrobe with a lot of creativity and perhaps a new item here or there. NEVER try to recreate the look in full, it will look too try hard and it probably won't fit in with your style. Like a magpie take elements from the catwalk and then make it your own.

I have taken influence from a few of the outfits from the Marc By Marc Jacobs SS 15 collection by Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley.
The whole collection is inspiring but you can't wear it all at once! Inspired by the monochrome prints, polka dots and layering I created the No Debutante version using a Super lovers tee with a strapless monochrome mix print cocktail dress layered over the top (did I mention I made the dress??). I went for bare legs and black footwear since the weather in the UK was still pretty hot at the time, I would wear tights and possibly a long sleeve under the tee now the weather has got cooler.
Not being one to hold back on hairstyles I
decided to recreate the Bjork style mohican of topknots in my mermaid hair but a simple single top knot would have looked great too.

There are so many different alternatives to recreating this look, try using different colour tees, dresses, skirts and footwear, wear it whatever way you like. Oversized t-shirts layered over or under dresses and skirts are the key pieces to this look and monochrome prints look to be a big thing for Spring Summer 2015.
How do you wear this look for the winter months?? Just add more layers, this can be worn beneath your winter coats with tights and long sleeves layered into the mix. Latex leggings optional! Good Luck fashionistas xx

Time Flies

Well, they say time flies when you're having fun (or in my case have too many distractions) I managed to totally miss my 300th blog post! Yes, it was two posts ago! I am pretty happy I have actually found the time for 300 blog posts....in three years! Not quite the one blog post a day that I orignally planned but the blog isn't my life, it's more like a diary....a fashion diary, which is exactly what I wanted it to be when I started it back in 2011. I am glad I have kept the blog going, it could have been easier to abandon it and just stick with Instagram and my Facebook page, which to be honest, are much more instant ways to show the world my daily outfits and current obsessions, with limited text and instant image uploads. I have decided to carry on with the No Debutante blog as it is now a diary and it is more honest than the instant one sentance comments that come with the other social networking sites. You get to know more about a person on their blog as it is usually more text heavy. What do you prefer in a blog? More text and information or more images?? I'll be honest I am an image lover but occassionally I like to know more about the post or generally have more time to read each blog post in full. Which begs the question....Is anybody actually reading these blogs at all? Are you reading my blog post right now? If yes, please leave a comment!

Moving on to today's personal style outfits and linking up with the previous post about my love for oversized t-shirts, here is another way I wear my oversized tees, tucked into little skater skirts and accessorised up!
I love bright coloured tights, it's such an easy way to add colour to an outfit. If you want to add even more colour to your outfit a Kuccia silky bomber is the only way to go!
Which is your favourite outfit? Tokyo Grunge (as it was named on Instagram) or Bright Kuccia Mash Up? Never hear it be said that a No Debutante outfit lacks personality and sparkle!

All clothing from 8ball.com, H&M, Primark, Kuccia, Topshop, Tatty Devine and Underground Shoes.

Thanks so much for reading, No Debutante will be back very soon with more fashionista fun.

True Blue Baby

Not content with having blue hair, it looks like No Debutante is loving blue everything! Today's post is inspired by this recent blue obsession.

The first Double Denim outfit was late 80s early 90s inspired, a vintage Wrangler jacket found in my loft which I actually wore during the 1990s, worn with my favourite Topshop Mom jeans, a Breton tee which I've had forever and my trusty Converse and frilly ankle socks.

In the second outfit I am wearing a  laid back and slouchy, crop top and maxi skirt, pretty much the whole outfit came from Primark at one point or another.

I am not a slave to labels, I wear vintage, thrifted, hoarded items, high street, I don't care, I know I can make it work without splashing out too much money! Sure, I get inspired by the latest catwalk and designer pieces but I usually prefer to recreate outfits that inspire me, this could be the latest looks from London Fashion Week, someone I saw on the street or a vintage style icon from a film, a music video or from a Pinterest image. I just like what I like and dress how I want and if you like it too, then that's cool!

All clothing from Wrangler vintage, Converse, Vivien Of Holloway, Topshop, Asos and Primark.

Thanks for checking in with No Debutante today, see you all very soon for more Fashionista fun.

The Face You Wore Was Cool, You Where A Photograph...

It has been over two weeks since my last blog post, Facebook entry and Instagram pic as No Debutante.....Some of you may have been wondering where I have been. Two weeks ago I received the saddest news that will change the life of myself and my family forever. I have been shocked and broken and have not felt like doing much at all. It seemed selfish to write a fashion blog and post photographs of myself and letting you know what I have been wearing has seemed irrelevant. I have longed for normality to come back but as I said, my world has now changed forever. Nobody likes change and the best thing to combat a big change and what it throws at you is to bring some normality back into my life. My kids definitely help with bringing me back to reality (whether I like it or not) but a good friend of mine (my gosh, I have had so many good, good friends lately!!) gave me some advice which I have to say is possibly the best advice I have ever been given. The advice is that you do not have to accept what has happened but to try and adapt to the change. This friend also advised me to bring some normality back into my life and I am so grateful she did.
You can either fall into a pit of despair, which is not really my style, or start doing some of the things you did before. Things you like doing. Well, I'm not sure how normal it is to take personal style photographs of yourself and share this with the world, but it IS something I like to do. So, move out the way all you teeny fashion bloggers, No Debutante is back on the blogger map and ready to style you out of the room!! BOOM!

Here are a couple of my recent outfits, today it's all about Jeans and how I wear 'em. Vintage Rock'n'Roller or Contemporary 90s style?

All clothing from Freddies Of Pinewood, Primark, Converse, Topshop and Urban Outfitters.

Thank you to all of my friends and family who have been so supportive to me and my blog. You all Rock!!

Clash Fash

I love clashing up prints and colours, so much so it seems that when I went to call this personal style post The Clash I had a quick moment of deja-vu and low and behold I had previously used this name twice in fashion clashing posts over the past three years! Yes, The No Debutante blog and persona shall soon be celebrating a third year on Blogger! Whoop!
Let's face it, there will be a lot of personal style posts from me about Clash Fash so to keep things simple, let's always name it Clash Fash. Not to be mixed up with Fash Clash from the Urban Dictionary - When two or more people show up to the same place wearing the same clothes.
This is not something that happens to me too often as my outfit is usually made up of new items, vintage and items from my wardrobe from the past 20 years. I'd be amazed if it did happen at all to be honest! Perhaps with a single new item? No Debutante friends, have any of you Fash Clashed with me?

Let's get back to Clash Fash. I love it, here are today's lovely clashing outfits. Clash Fash to me doesn't just mean wearing clashing prints and colours, it's also about clashing up styles. Although I am a self confessed random item buyer who doesn't buy anything to be worn with anything else, there is still a knack to Clash Fash. You will know instantly if it hasn't worked out! Please feel free to covet any of the looks but please do not Fash Clash with me at any up and coming events....

Denim Daze

I wear a lot of denim in every guise, here are few recent personal style pics of some of my denim favourites.......Of course my dungarees are in this post! Dungarees are super cool in the summer worn with a vest top and sandals or layered up with jackets and tees. I have had this denim waistcoat for years and I love wearing it layered over dresses. I do own other dresses, this one just seems to be a favourite at the moment! In fact, I wore a lovely new dress today which will make it's debut on Instagram and my facebook page over the next few days! Please could I take this moment to direct you over to my No Debutante Facebook page and to follow me on Instagram for daily fashion updates! Please follow me if you like what you see!

You've Torn Your Dress....You're Face Is A Mess..

Hey Hey Fashionistas! Summer has finally come to stay here in the UK, it's real hot and I am loving it!! I am loving the freedom of being able to wear shorts and dresses without tights, this is a massive thing here in the UK as we are never sure if the sunshine is actually going to come during our summer months, luckily for the past couple of years it decided it would show up and hang around for a bit.

Today's personal style pics are from a month ago when it was still, very much, tights wearing weather, what a difference a month can make! I am wearing my lovely warm 80 denier tights with, a dress that just keeps on giving, my swallow print shirt dress from H&M. It's a practical little dress that still (after 4 years) looks cool dressed up or down.

The first outfit features the plaid shirt again! I really love this shirt don't I? Layered up over the H&M dress with red Converse and a lovely flower in my quiffed updo hair an easy but effective look to pull off I think.

The second look mixes colour blocking and a 1920s inspired hairdo. I love bright colours and bright coloured tights, I wore them to death a few years back and grew tired of them but now I am well involved with the bright tights looks from the 1960s and 70s. The 1920s influenced finger waved hair, is a first for me, it's not perfect finger waving but I thought I'd have a go. Like I said in my last post, there's no harm in trying stuff out. I was pretty impressed with my first attempt. What do you think? It's Modern Vintage daaarling....

Which is your favourite look?

All clothing from H&M, Primark, Topshop and Converse.

Thanks so much for reading, I shall be back tomorrow with more Fashion Fun!
