The A Team

I have owned my current A-line skirt for over a year. It's from Topshop and is a little bit too big for me if I'm honest but I just love the cut and the length. Being a fan of A-line skirts I have owned a few of the years, either in mini or midi lengths they have a flattering and retro cut that I love. Whether you are inspired by the late sixties, early seventies or the 90s A-line trend, there are lots of A-line skirts on the high street at the moment and I would definitely recommend checking out thrift shops for midi versions. I am a big fan of the denim A-line skirt but I am loving the St Laurent groupie inspired suede and patchwork versions too. All reputable vintage shops will have a whole rail of these babies available at a price that will match Topshop and Urban Outfitters but will be original 60s and 70s vintage. I would recommend visiting vintage shops to get an original, one off vintage item.

I am loving Alexa Chung's A-line denim mini from her new fashion line and the pale denim 1970s inspired midi version from The White Pepper's Summer 2014 range. Topshop have also launched a great fashion story for their latest collection of 60s / 70s inspired pieces including the denim and suede versions below styled up a treat with snug denim jackets, ankle socks, wedges and long straight retro inspired hair. I love the styling!!!

Sportluxe Girl

As a contrast to my modern vintage looks I also love a bit of print clashing and sportluxe styling. I prefer clothing inspired by sportswear rather than actual sports wear and one of the fashion labels I love is Kuccia, who mix late eighties bodycon and early nineties rave sportluxe, think catsuits and bomber jackets with Kuccia's self confessed ferocious, loud and eye popping prints. Their first 'Festival' collection that caught my eye back in 2013 featured mix match Aztecs and day-glo fruit prints, it was tough and had a swagger which reminded me of MIA mixed with a late 1980s Nenah Cherry in style. In contrast the spring Summer 2015 collection is super cute in pastel pales with naive kawaii prints, it's a high summer range that features short sixties inspired swing dresses, slips with matching kaftans and cutie denim pieces. I only own one piece from Kuccia (at the moment....watch this space), it's my big, bright and bold,  Aztec silky bomber jacket from the Festival Collection. I love this jacket and it always gets a lot of attention when I wear it. Here are a few ways I have worn it so far this year thrown in with  few other sportluxe items including American Apparel tube socks, Converse low tops, oversized number print tees and a Maui surf mesh vest. I also added in some vintage denim and florals to break up the sportluxe overload!

Modern Vintage Meets Autumn Layering

Check out how I have moved Modern Vintage into the colder months with Autumnal layers and a mash up of a plaid circle midi skirt, a khaki bomber jacket, plimsoll creeper boots and a bright yellow new wave band tee worn with cute braids in my blue hair. A true No Debutante mash up of Modern vintage style for the autumn! Wrap up but don't lose your style beneath coats and layers this winter. Good luck, it is a challenge to achieve this xx

Back To Life....

Hey hey Fashionistas! Today's outfit is a transitional summer into Autumn look, I think I have finally let summer go but it did take me a long while this year, which I am happy about since I despise the winter months! Despite my hatred of all things cold and wintry, I am rather partial to jackets and coats. I would say I have a problem with them, faux furs, bombers, duffel coats, military jackets, kimonos, denim jackets, I actually miss my faux fur jackets during the summer months....yep, I definitely have a problem! 

Today's jacket of choice is the bomber jacket, warm enough to wear with thin layers underneath during the transitional weather but big enough to layer up with comfy knits for the winter. You would be right in saying that I am indeed wearing a crop top on an autumnal day, let's face it those days are limited now as winter creeps in so I shall just keep wearing them until it is too cold!

 I have paired my bomber and crop tops with my Topshop Mom jeans and my new favourite platform boots to make the look a bit less tomboy. It's a very early 90s look with a 60s inspired bouffant in my hair to mix things up a bit....a usual No Debutante fashion mash up you might say but sixties hairstyles were quite influential in the early 1990s, which then progressed into more of a 1970s influence by the mid 1990s. 

Its funny how all things in fashion seem to follow the same loop, now the 90s has made it's first come back whilst there was already a big 1950s happening, I'd say I was back to square one again with the early 1990s looks mixed with sixties inspirations, it must mean only one thing....The 1970s Vs Britpop tomboy is on the return. Confused? You will be....

Time Flies

Well, they say time flies when you're having fun (or in my case have too many distractions) I managed to totally miss my 300th blog post! Yes, it was two posts ago! I am pretty happy I have actually found the time for 300 blog posts....in three years! Not quite the one blog post a day that I orignally planned but the blog isn't my life, it's more like a diary....a fashion diary, which is exactly what I wanted it to be when I started it back in 2011. I am glad I have kept the blog going, it could have been easier to abandon it and just stick with Instagram and my Facebook page, which to be honest, are much more instant ways to show the world my daily outfits and current obsessions, with limited text and instant image uploads. I have decided to carry on with the No Debutante blog as it is now a diary and it is more honest than the instant one sentance comments that come with the other social networking sites. You get to know more about a person on their blog as it is usually more text heavy. What do you prefer in a blog? More text and information or more images?? I'll be honest I am an image lover but occassionally I like to know more about the post or generally have more time to read each blog post in full. Which begs the question....Is anybody actually reading these blogs at all? Are you reading my blog post right now? If yes, please leave a comment!

Moving on to today's personal style outfits and linking up with the previous post about my love for oversized t-shirts, here is another way I wear my oversized tees, tucked into little skater skirts and accessorised up!

I love bright coloured tights, it's such an easy way to add colour to an outfit. If you want to add even more colour to your outfit a Kuccia silky bomber is the only way to go!

Blue Jeans

With my holiday to Ibiza finally on the horizon I am finding it hard to think of anything but packing my (and a motley crew of kids) holiday wardrobe(s). It's hard enough to know what I want to take but packing for three small people too just adds to the chaos. I have to start packing mentally weeks before we go otherwise we end up with far too many clothes and an overload of random things packed last minute. I also have to start grabbing their best clothes and hiding them away as the kids will just keep wearing them again and nothing is bloody clean when I go to pack it . My seven year old son Mika is the worst culprit for this, he changes his clothes more times in the day than a Mod.  (who were rumoured to change their outfit up to three times a day, it sounds fabulous, I know, but really??) So, Mika just likes wearing costumes and dressing up, I love the way he styles himself, it's always mixed prints and bright colours, the boy could already work as a fashion stylist! Despite Mika's love for changing his outfit I have to put a stop to it sometimes or he'll have nothing clean accept those clothes that have been bought by relatives that you don't really like but haven't quite got round to giving to a charity shop. Any parent here will know exactly the clothes I am talking about, I don't want them in my house let alone on my child, on holiday!

When I Wake Up In My Make-Up......

Finally summer has arrived and I can leave the house in a pair of shorts and no tights! Whoop! Today's personal style post features outfits from a few weeks back so there shall be no legs on show today! To be honest, those shorts look kinda short, in fact you can't even see them beneath the oversized vest top, perhaps it's best I had the tights on!

I was going for a grunge inspired look with the first outfit, after seeing a nostalgic nineties photograph of Courtney Love and Drew Barrymore. I am wearing my sequined front Jimi Hendrix vest from Primark (as are the barely there shorts) with Dr Martens, Topshop bomber Jacket, a Tatty Devine necklace and pinned back braids in my rainbow hair.

The second outfit is more Rockabilly, with a striped top and floral skater skirt, print clashing it up and worn with frilly socks and Topshop plimsolls. I have also styled my hair into a one sided plait, Rockabilly style, I was so excited when I actually achieved this style as my hair just hasn't been long enough until now, I finished the look off with a quiff and a flower accessory for the full vintage Rockabilly experience.

No Debutante - Winter Grunge V's Rockabilly Mash Up!

Amongst the half term madness I have managed to pop together a personal style post for you, the sun is shining and I have no work worries for a week, things are looking good for me!

Today's personal style outfits are both very different (as usual) I named the first outfit Winter Grunge on Instagram which I think pretty much describes it. I am loving the long layers and the pink hair worn down and I am surprised to see the midriff peeking out from beneath the crop top. I know it's winter but I think I had pulled the skirt up high enough and wrapped up enough layers to keep myself warm. This must have been a dry day since I am wearing my fur coat to work rather than my all weather/ getting caught in the rain whilst pushing a baby buggy duffel coat which I have pretty much worn for the whole winter! I can tell you now that it does not look good worn with my maxi skirt, I attempted it but failed just the other day!

The second outfit was named Rockabilly Mash Up and is one of my more tomboy rockabilly looks worn with a ska t-shirt, skater skirt and a bomber jacket, hence the mash-up. I am rather proud of my victory roll, it looks real teddy boy rather than pin-up girl, it's tough and androgynous, I'm liking it! I never really know how my rockabilly hairstyles are going to work out, it's all a bit trial and error, like most things I do. It makes life more fun and I'd get bored if I didn't act like that.
