One Girl One Boy!!!

In a contradiction to my girlie side, I generally managed to boy up a lot of my looks by wearing clothing inspired by men's fashion, I have always been a bit of a tomboy as I have mentioned before and I do love a bit of androgyny. In today's personal style pics I have gone the whole way and just worn one of my husband Phil' shirts. I'm not sure whether he likes me wearing his clothes or not but he can be very aloof about these things.....so I just wore it anyway. I did ask at least!

I thought the shirt looked great with my whole outfit which consisted of my bright yellow Gang Of Four tee, denim cut offs, ankle socks and creepers. I made the look a little bit more femme with a lovely pink victory roll and flower in my hair.

For more of a Riot Grrrl look I wore a Fred Perry polo with denim shorts , American Apparel socks, Dr Martens and a quiff. Both looks were popular on Instagram which was cool.

The last image shows of a fantastic flash of my blue hair, even I didn't know it looked like that until I took the photo. I really love my rainbow hair! See, I am pretty girlie really....

All clothing from Topman, Fred Perry, Primark, Dr Martens, Underground, American Apparel and hair by Vikki Mac.

Thanks so much for reading and
I hope to be back very soon with more fashion fabulousness!!

No Debutante - Live Fast

Well, I am back from yet another short break away from the hustle and bustle of city life, on this occasion I have just returned from a long weekend away camping in Devon with my family, which doesn't come without it's own hassles but it's great to be outdoors with Phil and the kids on a rather unexpected sunny camping trip! What I haven't told you is that we had to put the tent up in the dark, my Mum did her back in, plus other mishaps but that would ruin the romantic illusion of my perfect family camping holiday, wouldn't it?

Let's take a look at today's outfits. I had been influenced to bring out my very British punk and skinhead style by some images I had collected on Pinterest, even though Punk and skinhead style seems to be all over the place this Autumn Winter, judging by Topshop and of course Dr Martens campaigns and the AW catwalks trends. Punk and Skinhead style never really goes away for me, I have been into these 1970s British scenes since I was a kid, I was born in 1976 the year of Punk, so it's my duty to love it! Only a punk girl would have an Xray Spex record as the backdrop of her blog, wouldn't she?

The first outfit I wore the day after DJing at my club night Bang, I was happy that I woke up without a shocking hangover and felt in the mood to wear my ridiculous shoes! The outfit is pretty contemporary with my rainbow platform wedges (ridiculous shoes), American Apparel tube socks (1970s skate style) and denim cut offs with a new wave Gang of Four tee tucked in, this isn't sounding that contemporary, as it's pretty 1970s based again with new wave, retro skatewear and platform boots and to top it off my new skinhead inspired Topshop khaki bomber jacket. The only thing that makes this outfit contemporary is that I have chosen to wear it all together! What do you think?

The second outfit is a little punk inspired but it's also about the attitude with punk and skinhead style. I am giving a bit of attitude in these photos, I really don't have to try hard my face seems to sit comfortably in a frown! I have quiffed my hair up at the front and have tied the back up, I'm quite liking this style at the moment, it's a little edgy and a little bit girlie. I rolled up the skull tee to make it a crop top and let my cut offs hang down a bit, I opted to wear my Topshop leopard print sandals instead of Dr Martens boots since the weather is still good here in the UK, I cannot waste the sunshine and the sandals helped to soften the look down a bit.

So, do I have a punk inspired lifestyle to Live Fast and Die Young? I did have when I was much younger, things change when you have kids and get older, I am more of a Live Fast (providing you do go on holiday lots, have a few spa treatments and drink lots of red wine) and Die old ( but until then continue to act like you are living fast and dress like you are still young).
Get Punk and skinhead inspired now!!

Thanks for reading and hello to my new followers, I am always very excited to get new followers!! Please leave comments and let me know what you all think.

The next post shall hopefully include some new product reviews. Watch this space!

My Style Icons - Part 5 - Ziggy Stardust

As I approach the last few weeks of my pregnancy, I am not feeling inspired to talk about my latest fashion obsessions, so it seemed a good idea (now that I have finished work and have some time on my hands) to post about another of my Style Icons. He is the  king of androgyny, glam rock and David Bowie's alter ego Ziggy Stardust. I am a massive David Bowie fan musically but stylewise it is Ziggy that has taken my heart. I have also added a couple of Aladdin Sane era images, as Bowie is hot in these pics!

Look at this Aztec catsuit / outfit, in the words of Gok Wan it's bang on trend! I am rather partial to any garment that is an all-in-one, either a catsuit, leotard, jumpsuit or playsuit and Ziggy loved them too.
Glam rock was a great time for stretch fabrics,
it saw men becoming interested in  the possibilities of wearing skintight garments to show off their bodies and becoming androgynous.
I reckon most of Ziggy's outfit were made from stretch jersey knits rather than the lycra based fabrics that were more readily available during the 80s.
I'm imagining Ziggy's outfits were very hot to wear, especially onstage, under the spotlights.

Ziggy's outfits often influence many costumes I have to wear for the Hoochie Coochie Kaberet and other such outrageous events that I attend! I will deffo blog the costumes I have worn on here asap.

Stills from the Life On Mars pop video which is a must watch!! David Bowie is mesmerizing in it, the white lighting and vivid orange hair and blue eyemake-up is amazing!! I nearly always wear blue eyeshadow and it is all inspired by this video!! Watch it, you won't be able to take your eyes off of him! He is like a beautiful alien clown. The song Life On Mars is also very close to my heart as we have played it as the last record of the night at my club night BANG in Bristol (currently at the Big Chill Bar) for the past 9 years!! It never fails to impress!!

Ziggy in another jumpsuit, I can only imagine how shocking this imagery was to uptight, old fashioned, recession fuelled Britain. It obviously came as a relief to many teenagers who became obsessed with Glam rock all over the world during the early 1970s with other such influences as the New York Dolls, Freddie Mercury, Marc Bolan, Mick Ronson, Lou Reed, Bryan Ferry and not forgetting the fabulous Iggy Pop.

I'm not a massive fan of too much green, but I do love a pair of leopard print trousers and some wedge platform boots. I am actually on the look out for some wedge boots, this will become the next fashion obsession! Look at the green hair though, a total influence for the later punk hair styles. I say that like it was years between Glam and Punk, it really wasn't. I guess all subcultures are short lived, when they turn on a mass scale they are no longer underground and the scensters start looking for something else which is what happened between Glam and Punk.

I love this image, look at the red skintight high waister trousers with braces and the Pirate
eye patch! My brother Mike dressed up as this era of Bowie for my club BANG's 5th Birthday party, I will deffo post it on the blog.

Another still from the Life On Mars pop video.

You don't get much more Glam Rock than this image, this look was copied by many teenage fans (male and female) during the 1970s.

Another day another leotard. Ziggy looking a bit skinny here but fabulous non the less.

I have added these images from the Jean Genie Pop Video, which features Cyrinda Foxe (one of Andy Warhol's muses) Cyrinda also looks fabulous half Marilyn Monroe half Patricia Arquette in True Romance, look at the leopard print halter, skinny crop jeans over fishnets with platforms!! This was from Bowie's Aladdin Sane era and Bowie is HOT in this video like a glam James Dean! The chemistry between the two of them in this video is so hot, there is no way they didn't do it!

I love you Ziggy Stardust / David Bowie!!!

Whole Lotta Rosie Part 4

I can't even begin to tell you how tired I am whilst I write this blog. I've grown so much in the past couple of days and I am still working at Venue Magazine with just over 6 weeks of my pregnancy to go. It really has taken it's toll on me this time round and I have become annoyed that some of my maternity clothing (and that's limited because I have refused to wear it) is now becoming too tight!! I sat on the floor in my beloved H&M Maternity denim cut off shorts to discover they were also cutting off my blood supply around my waist, which may I point out is now so low I think my waist and hips are now the same thing. So here's what I wore over the last month, Summer ended and then came back again here in England, so the transitional look is what it's all about, along with battling with what fits and what doesn't. Compared to right now, dressing myself last month was easy, The next and possibly, final Whole Lotta Rosie Pregnancy Fashion blog will be very interesting.

Week 31 - Starting to feel really full of baby, the baby moves so much now and I'm beginning to get aching hips from sleeping on my sides (I used to be a dedicated belly sleeper until the bump arrived), I've decided that the Bodycon dress here (yes, it's the old faithful from H&M) is a good way to go for the latter end of my pregnancy too. There is no pulling around the bump and the maternity over bump tights are really comfy. Decided the slutty look is a good way to go, I'm showing off these new curves. Breton top is also from H&M S /S 2010.

I look a bit glazed here, my pregnancy banana brains do tend take over alot. I've gone for a bit of androgyny today, in my Fred Perry and skinnies, my husband Phil bought me the Fred Perry a few years ago but I had complained it was too big for me, fits a treat now! Thanks Phil xx

These are my Topshop maternity jeans which have finally stopped falling off now that my boy hips have got bigger, I'm hoping they do not go the same way as the beloved denim cut offs and become too tight. Belly button is beginning to stick out, although the dot you can see is actually a piercing. Apparently I have been very lucky with the piercing, alot of woman have to take them out during pregnancy, I'm not sure why though.

So the weather has changed and Autumn is approaching, out comes the American Apparel oversized hoodie. I've had it for a couple of years but you can still buy them in loads of different colours. I'm looking a bit sleepy here but at least I have done my hair.

Week 32  - Notice you can now see the stretchy waistband on theTopshop Maternity jeans, the long vests and slouchy tops are no longer hiding it due to the sheer size the bump has decided to grow this week.

A good side view of the bump, it never seems to look as big as it feels on here, its big and heavy, honest!

Lace bodycon dress fro Asos Maternity, the one from the weddings dressed down with red converse low tops and my cuddly Leopard print Topshop cardigan, in the biggest size they had, from last A/W 2010.

The lace bodycon dress helping me pull off the slutty look I had desired. Face looking a little smug.

This photo makes me laugh, it also features my youngest son Mika who was attempting to ruin each photo by chasing me around and sticking that Tech decks training dvd in the way. The little buggar managed to do it in this one. Let's notice the gap in his teeth, he's already lost 3 teeth and he's only 4!! More of him and his older brother Lucian coming soon.

Week 33 - Summer decided to come back in England, it's now October!? I decided to add a bit of colour to myself here. I think this was the day I found out the denim shorts didnt fit anymore, a sad day for everyone involved.

Another hot day, more bright clothes. Basic yellow vest from George at Asda I think and my River Island jumpsuit from last S/S 2010  rolled down as a pair of trousers, the jumpsuit part barely fits over my stomach. second day of the late great British heatwave, I'm in it for comfort all the way, no restricting outfits for me.

The weather has now reverted back to Autumn and it's raining here in England although I'm still quite hot. My bump has grown loads this week and I am so tired and achey. I guess I will post up another Pregnancy Fashion update within a few weeks when I have collected more photos together, perhaps I will even go into labour before then, wishful thinking, I know, Thanks for reading my blog xx

You've got your Mother in a whirl, cos she's not sure if you're a boy or a girl...

My current obsession is what's happening in the shops for the new season Autumn Winter 2011-12. I have had a look around and have come up with a few different looks that are high on my fashion agenda for the coming season. Although today has to be one of the hottest days of the year, I, am busy looking for my Winter Wardrobe. I have clearly put aside that I am actually 7 months pregnant for the moment so I can dream of what I can wear post-pregnancy body. I can get a few pieces now and then add to it after my baby is born in November (probably December, if my track record is anything to go by). So I'm really excited about the Androgynous (a look I can usually carry off) one of the boys, girls who are boys...etc..looks that is very prominant this A /W. I also love Asos and Topshops campaigns for this look on their websites, the styling is great, I had to include it.

Let's start with this cute teddy boy look from Topshops A/W 2011/12 Collection. I think they labelled it New Mod, but have to disagree it's more influenced by 50s  or Punk than Mod. The cute quiff in the hair, the crop cardigan over a high button shirt, ankle grazer trousers in Garnet  - a big colour this season, white socks and my favourite bit, the brothel creepers. I am deffo gonna get me some of these!
The second look from Topshop A/W 2011/12 collection. Im loving the ribbon neck tie and the polka dot ankle grazers, these are not available at Topshop online yet, I hate it when they give you teasers of pieces on the website but never come up with the goods to actually buy. Not that I can fit into them at the moment, but that's not the point....rant over....Polka-dots are massive this season BTW as is emerald green, two ticks for these trousers, that you cant actually buy yet....
This look is available from Asos and is part of their A/W 2011/12 campaign. Really like the Crombie jacket, which is a new length for this season, I want one of these coats, trousers perhaps a little too tight for my liking but they are in the new garnet A/W colour. These shoes are a more girlie option of the brothel creeper for those who just can't / won't do the full on brothel creeper.
This style of hat has been doing the rounds for a few seasons now for boys and girls but it still looks great with this look. A more colourful version of the 3/4 length coat. All from Asos.
The coat looks really cool in this one, I still interested in beige, unbelievable! Asos again.
I love these 3/4 length cardigans, they have also been kicking around for a few seasons but I never want them to leave! I buy mine in extra large so they swamp me and can be worn as coats, they look good with everything in my opinion. This look reminds me of some Mod, psyche
boys I used to know who clashed paisley patterned shirts with front button tweed ankle grazers, it
sounds terrible but I thought it looked great.
Aaah! the old jumper over shirt look, it's been around for years, reminds me being a Brit -pop girl.

Although I'm not a fan of sleeveless shirts ( I was totally appalled by those sleeveless jackets from last S/S Season) I am a fan of leopard print, I think this Topshop A/W 2010/12
shirt would look great with some, ankle grazers and a pair of brothel creepers.
Talking of Brothel Creepers, I have been quietly considering a pair of these for a few years, now they're all over the place, I can't say no. They will definately be my next purchase (pregnancy not interferring with the size of my feet) the only trouble is, now there's too much choice. Here's a few of them. These red lovelies are from Topshop online.
Blue suede shoes, I love these ones from topshop online.
Hey, you're not brothel creepers! Oh thats right you're leopard print, you can
stay.....in my wardrobe. Leopard print lace up lovelies from River Island A/W 2011/12.
A boot version, love it, very Tokyo-ite. Black brothel creeper boots from Office online.
Black suede brothel creeper boots with animal print upper panel from Office Online
 These are contenders!
These remind me of the 80s revival of brothel creepers, you saw alot of these when I
was a kid. Didnt Ducky have them in Pretty in Pink?? I think he did! Yey!
This is a campaign shot i found on line for D&G A/W 2011/12. I choose it for the braces and it reminds me of Madonna's Vogue video. FIN
