My Mom Jeans!

I love my Topshop Mom jeans! They are a slim boyfriend style jean with a higher waist rather than a slouchy boyfriend waist and pretty much tick all my requirements in a pair of jeans. High waist? Tick. Not skinnies? Tick. Can be turned up at hem? Tick. Comfortable fit? Tick.
If there is one thing I cannot bear it is trousers falling off my arse or anything that creates muffin top, a look due to be a thing of the past, when people who have no business wearing low waisted skinnies stop wearing them and hopefully see the more flattering light of the likes of the Topshop Mom jeans! I guess it would help if people wouldn't insist on wearing a size smaller than they actually are, I really couldn't care what size my clothes are, I keep trying all the sizes on until I get the fit I am looking for. I know  people who refuse to buy a size over a certain size, they have a size limit, which I think is ridiculous. Who is actually looking at the size of your clothes and judging you? I choose to buy the 32" waist Mom jeans which makes these jeans a Size 14 in the UK, my measurements make me a Size 12  but I like to have a slightly looser fit in jeans and these fit me so well!

The Mom jeans are really flattering and are not too snug on the waist so look great with tucked in tops and even crop tops. I love the retro late 1980s / early 1990s look about them, it's refreshing after years of  skinnies and for me a different look from my vintage 1940s/50s jeans, which I still love, of course! I am pleased to see a lot of people (male and female) embracing the Mom style jeans, after the ocean of skinnies, it's been a long time coming!

Rock Around The Clock

I am finally catching up with my personal style pics and I am proud to say I am now only a month behind! The idea that I could be blogging about the outfit that I have just worn has seemed an impossibility to me up until now, it would have helped if I hadn't taken so many daily photos of literally every outfit I have worn over the past few years of blogging but I have calmed this down now and with double outfit posts (to help catch up) I can actually see a light at the end of the tunnel! My plan is to keep writing weekly personal style posts but to have more time for other current obsessions and fashion favourites.
My Pinterest boards and Instagram photographs are way ahead of my blog, obviously this is because they are both so instant and no writing and cropping is involved but I would like the blog to try and keep up as I love writing it and don't want to have to leave it behind!

Today's outfits are both Modern Vintage, the first rockabilly outfit was worn on a lovely day out in Bath, UK with some of my bestest friends and it features mix prints and layering, I do like a double collar! The hair is styled into a victory roll with plaits.
The second outfit features some colour blocking worn with a maxi skirt and a Land Grrrll head scarf. For Victory!! Frilly ankle socks and Converse finish both outfits.

Which is your favourite outfit? Do you follow me on Pinterest and Instagram too? Are blogs getting left behind?? Share your thoughts xx

Thanks for reading! I shall be back very soon with a No Debutante collaboration with my good friend and fellow blogger Dilly Foxtrot Investigates on her new creative venture! Watch this space!!

Pastel Denim

Hey Hey Fashionistas! I thought I had better write a blog post to prove I haven't left the planet since it has been over a week since my last post. Sometimes I just need a little break and a holiday and I have just returned from a brilliant long weekend away on the South West coast of England with my family. We stayed in a converted barn in North Devon and drove the VW Van down to the Ilfracombe and Woolacombe beaches for body boarding and rock pooling in the wind and sunshine (a common mix of weather in the UK for this time of year) and although I am feeling happy, I am totally in pain from over doing it at body boarding, mental note to myself...I am not a professional body boarder....Owwwww! Great fun though!

Here's a look at some more personal style pics, I really can't write much as my hands and arms are genuinely aching! I'll soldier on though.....Today's pics feature alot of denim in pale shades and pastel colours. Both of the denim shirts were from Primark last year and the jeans were from Harajuku in Japan bought nearly five years ago on my honeymoon! Here are two ways I wear a denim shirt anyhoo and I love my Maxi skirt too, I keep forgetting I have it and really must wear it more!
My bright rainbow hair always fades to pastel shades after about a month which I also like, it's a semi permanent hair colour that just keeps on giving. Influenced by my personal original nineties style I like to pop my hair up into cute buns which, for me, during the nineties, were influenced by Bjork. I still love a Bjork hair bun now!

I am hoping to fit in another of my favourite Spring Summer 2014 designer collections for my next post, so watch this space and hope that the weather will now start to improve so we can actually wear these inspiring outfits!! Now, which designer collection to choose????

Thank you so much for reading and following!

Pink and Blue Crush

At the beginning of the year I decided it was time to add a bit more colour to my hair. It was not difficult picking my next colour as I had been pondering over blue hair for a few months but wasn't sure how it would suit my complexion. In my continuing quest to have My Little Pony hair I thought it would be best to keep the pink in too. I got my lovely hair stylist Vikki Mac to pop in some blue colour underneath a top coat of pink to add a subtle blue to my rainbow mane and I was really happy with it! It even matched my beloved Vision tee which I loved and not content with that I had to get a pink Smeg fridge to put in my pink and blue kitchen (yes, yes, I promise to blog about the beautiful Retro Kitchen Caravan Diner very soon!!) which also matched my hair! What more could a girl want??

Pink and Blue I love you!
Tee from Vision Streetwear at Topshop,Fur and ankle socks from Topshop, Creepers from Underground at Office Shoes. denim shorts from Primark.

Thanks so much for reading and following, I shall be back tomorrow with some more fashion fun!

Cherry Bomb! Meadham Kirchhoff X Topshop

I seem to have a current obsession for Meadham Kirchhoff's latest collection for Topshop. I have pinned nearly every image from pinterest and have since been lucky enough to receive a few pieces from the collection for myself for Christmas from my gorgeous husband Phil. It seemed only right to do a post on this current obsession and as many of you know I do love a bit of an avant garde, anti-fashion, trashy mash up and Meadham Kitrchhoff  are just brilliant at it!
I would like to point out that this collection has now sold out, just in case you try to get yourself some. I am not generally in the habit of trying to be the first blogger to mention the latest big thing, I just share stuff that I like whether it’s current or from the past and if you do follow me, you already understand this! Basically, like my style, anything could happen in this blog! Remember, you can get inspired by a designer collection and just recreate it using your own wardrobe and a few new accessories, stripey lurex tights, frilly socks, 1970s shirts, crochet and furs and then in true Meadham Kirchhoff inspired style, wear it all at once to massive excess!! Job done!
I love the fun and OTT inspiration behind the latest Topshop and Meadham Kirchhoff collection which was created around the idea of the fictional girl band 'The Cherrys', a group of individual girls with individual styles, invented by the princes of kitsch who ask  'Which Cherry are you? '
After carefully examining The four Cherrys I have come to the conclusion that I am definitely Cherry Pikka who loves colour clashes and fabric mash-ups, she is the most mischievous Cherry who’s off kilter looks break all the rules! In fact I think this is describing me, I am Cherry Pikka!

The other Cherry’s include Cherry Satanika who is ridiculously rebellious, the leader of the pack and has a naughty but nice style, Cherry Cherie who is rather demure and has a penchant for prints and eye-catching 1970s styles and Cherry Blossom who loves pastels and her novelty cuddly monster scarf (I Want!!) and oozes bitter sweetness, she is the most marshmallow sweet Cherry.
 Which Cherry are you???

The collection itself is a fantastic mix of 1970s granny chic, bohemian styling, Sex Shop punk, pretty pastel fluffiness, baby doll glamour, novelty accessories and glam rock. My favourite pieces include the glittery lurex socks and tights, cherry prints, frilly bloomers, furry bags, all of the novelty platform shoes and  Cherry blossoms amazing Monster scarf!  I regret not trying to get the Monster scarf now but I am lucky enough to own two pairs of the Glam rock stripey lurex tights and the frilly cherry ankle socks, so i cannot complain! Here are few of my favourite images from the collection, plus images of how other including Susie Bubble wear theirs and you might even see a couple of personal style shots of me in mine! Enjoy!

Phew! That post was a long time coming. I have been living in the house of ill for over a week and we are still all suffering one way or another, I am glad to be slowly emerging back into the land of the living and what a better way to break me back into blogging than with a full on, all blazing, Meadham Kirchhoff post!
I love Meadham Kirchhoff!! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you for reading, I shall be back real soon with my latest personal style post. Have a great week and never tame the fashionista in you!

No Debutante - Shirt and Sweet

Today's personal style post is a mash up of different rockabilly looks and hairstyles. For both outfits I am wearing shirts with my Vivien of Holloway 1950s jeans, ankle socks and creepers. Shirt tucked in or out? I like both.

I love trying out different types of Victory rolls in my hair, I thought I wouldn't have thick / long enough hair to achieve a double victory roll but it is possible even on fine, mid length hair. When attempting rockabilly hairstyles backcombing is your friend, it also helps if you hair hasn't just been washed as it's not so flyaway and you'll have more control over it. Lots of people ask me if I put rollers in my hair or if I am wearing rollers!? I have never used rollers, I just take a section of hair, backcomb it from the root and then roll it up using my fingers. It's actually quite easy when you get used to it. I have thought about doing a YouTube tutorial but honestly there are loads of victory roll tutorials already on there, that's how I learnt how to do it. Ladies, get rolling!!

You may also notice a little guest in today's photographs, isn't my little Sylvie Belle growing up? Sylvie is now two years old and loves princess dresses and wants pink hair like her Mummy! She is the cutest!! (My hair is pink now but not in these photographs, incase you were wondering...)

Three posts in one week? This is some sort of record for me these days! I'd like to say that I won't be wearing the tartan shirt in the next personal style post but then I would be lying. How many more ways can I possibly wear it before you see a repeat outfit? I can assure you it could go on for a long time, the possibilities are endless!

Thanks for joining me today and have a fantastic week on this run up to Christmas! Excited!!!  xx

No Debutante - Black Sabbath

I am a lover of bright colours and clashing prints so it has surprised me that the next two personal style outfits do not feature any prints at all and a lot of the colour black!?! Which is very unusual for me. Is it the return of 1990s minimalism? Nah, I think it is just a coincidence on this occasion, I have still managed to add a coloured belt here, some printed Converse there and a pink flower in my rockabilly hair-do. So all is not lost for this clashing print and colour mash up girl.

The second outfit was worn to watch my sons play football, yes this girlie, rockabilly pin-up was a Soccer Mom! You won't see me wearing waterproof warm clothing on the side lines of the football pitch, Oh the glamour! I'm not sure how much longer my kids are going to tolerate my style. My oldest son Lucian (9) was disgusted by the idea of him possibly banging into me on the bus home from high school, he's not even going to high school for two years! I promised I wouldn't talk to him...

Thanks for reading xx
