Modern Vintage Belle

I knew I had worn a few Modern Vintage items lately so when I started to compile the collection of images for this post I found all but one of my recent Modern Vintage outfits included vintage cut jeans. There are two pairs of jeans in question today the first being my Freddies Of Pinewood 1940s jeans and the second are the old faithful Vivien of Holloway 1950s lovelies.

You must always wear your vintage jeans turned up at the hem and the higher the turn up the better for a true vintage look. I always like to mix my vintage styling with contemporary items and generally any other era inspiration I can get my modern vintage hands on. I love to mix and match styles and I am general happy with the results of my little fashion experiments. Plus Freddies Of Pinewood liked my modern vintage pics on Instagram which will always brighten my day!

Today I have mixed skate and surf style t-shirts and grunge styling with vintage cut jeans for a fresh take on modern vintage. I am loving the half mast trouser look at the moment so these Freddies 1940s jeans are right up my street and bang on trend for this spring summer where wide legged, cropped trousers and culottes are going to be massive! They are already all over the catwalks and appearing in street style social networking images and have started filtering into the high street too. I reckon every shop must have at least one pair of culottes in at the moment. I will be interested to see if, like dungarees and tapered jeans, it takes a few seasons for the general mass consumer to accept a pair of culottes or wide leg trousers into their wardrobes or if this look really will be the big thing this summer?? What do you think? Will you be buying a pair of culottes this season or are you just a happy bystander of the trend??

All clothing from Freddies of Pinewood, Vivien of Holloway, Topshop, H&M, Primark and Office shoes.

Crop Top and Jeans

I am back from my holiday in sunny Ibiza and sat at home in Bristol, England listening to the rain pour outside and I am totally wishing I was back in Ibiza sat on the beach, listening to the waves! At least this bad English weather gives me a chance to catch up with some blogging, we have a lot to talk about!
As anybody who follows me on Facebook and Instagram knows I have a new hair colour and will be sharing this and all of my holiday outfits with you on this blog very soon but for now we are going to have a look at what I wore the few days before I went on holiday and got my hair done, if you can't wait to see the new hair colour check out my Facebook and Instagram. Although the outfits have not yet been revealed to anybody yet, watch all of these spaces over the next few days to see what No Debutante wore in Ibiza!

Today's outfits are very simple but effective and are great worn in the warmer months. I love a crop top and a pair of high waisted jeans and here are a couple of ways I have worn them in July with creeper pumps and cute hair updos.

All clothing and accessories from Topshop, Vivien of Holloway, Primark and Asos.

Thanks so much for reading and don't forget to follow me on Instagram and Facebook for daily fashion updates, ahead of the blog posts.

No Debutante - Teddy Girl Tough

Hey Fashionistas! Sorry it's taken me nearly a week to write a new blog post but I have been rather busy visiting my new nephew Albert! He is the cutest little boy and really reminds me of all of my children when they were newborn, I REALLY love a newborn baby but I am just smitten with Albert who is the first child of my brother Mike and his lovely girlfriend Naomi. Congratulations kids!!!! Albert rocks!

Since it's been a while, I thought I would share another personal style post with you today.
I was inspired by the Teddy Girls post that I had written back in October check it out here
and using my own wardrobe including my Vivien of Holloway 1950s jeans, shirts, jackets and an attitude, I recreated my own contemporary version of a Teddy Girl.
I have always been a bit of a tomboy so this wasn't too difficult to pull off, I like the result as I wasn't taking myself too seriously and the photographs are playful as well as Teddy Girl Tough!

 Which look do you prefer?

That was a short and sweet post. I like it when that happens!

All clothing from Vivien of Holloway, Converse, Topshop, Primark & H&M.

Thanks for reading, following and generally being there! You rock!

No Debutante - I love my Kuccia Bomber Jacket

I have a lot going on this weekend so I know there will not be much blogging going on! I thought I would attempt a quick post using my smart phone so here goes!! I apologise for any ramdomness on the post I have no idea how to preview it! A quick edit later on can sort any problems, I'm sure!"
I wore todays outfit to my club night Bang a few weeks ago. It is another mash up style outfit mixing 1950s with the late 1980s.
I am wearing my favourite Vivien of Holloway jeans, with my coca cola crop top and my amazing Fresh Prince of Bel- air style aztec oversized bomber jacket by Kuccia at Topshop. Remember the one I tried on in the Topshop changing rooms?? Can I just say, I just browsed their website and I am loving it!! So bright with loads of clashing prints, it's right up my street!! Www.kuccia.com check it out!! My jackets currently on the home page!
It is funny that I didn't seem to get too many compliments or Instagram likes for the jacket which only encourages me to wear it more! I think it is one of those garments that confuses people, is it really cool or is it a fashion error?? I am confident that it is really cool, it rocks!! My husband Phil however, still needs convincing.....in a polite way Phil described the jacket as being 'a bit bright, mad and shiny' which to me sounds like he is describing a shell suit jacket!! He then went on to say 'it's very You though' with a confused look on his face. Ha!
I like the mixing of styles in this outfit, the whole thing is very late eighies, since 1950s style was also a big thing next to the aztec influenced prints. I am also wearing lipstick in the last pic which is virtually unknown, thought I'd try it out. What do you think of the outfit as a whole? Do you like the aztec bomber jacket? Answers on a postcard to No Debutante. I love my bomber jacket.com xxx

No Debutante - Identity

I have had a lazy Sunday again today,I went for a walk to the park and hung out with my family. Yesterday was a busier day which included family haircuts, a trip to Dean Lane Skate Park here in Bristol to watch bands and skaters, followed by a visit to meet my lovely friends Craig and Zoe's new and very tiny baby Gwen. She was the cutest and I want one!! I then came back to earth as I chatted with Zoe about how you lose your identity and style during pregnancy. Post pregnancy is just as hard as being pregnant, I found out the hard way that it is not possible to wear a dress (unless it unbuttons down the front, which none of my dresses do) when breast feeding. I ended up in a state of half undress in a toilet, that's all I'm goin to say! It was a killer having all of my lovely dresses that I could finally fit into again but couldn't wear for practical reasons, no-one prepares you for these disappointments!! I like to look good whilst showing off my new baby! Identity is a very big thing with me and I really found it hard to adapt to not being able to wear what I wanted, when I wanted. I need to go back to my old pregnancy and post pregnancy posts from last year and see how I coped! Check out my earliest personal style blog posts from 2011 until late 2012 and see how I dressed during pregnancy and post pregnancy.

Back to the here and now, I am glad to say, I am back to my usual size 12 and can pretty much wear what I like. In today's personal style pics I have favoured denim and Converse. The first outfit was worn to work and to a product meeting with two lovely ladies who kindly gave me a goodie bag full of new products including more Dr Hauschka treats to try out and promote on my blog, which is all very exciting, the first of these posts should follow over the next week. I have always been one to dress comfortably and casually to any meetings or interviews, people then get to see the real you. I cannot imagine having to wear suits and office attire to work and find it unlikely that I would even choose a job where this would be necessary. Perhaps I have just been lucky in the jobs I have had that I have not had to wear office attire and I'd have to bloody love that job, if I ever did wear it! On this occasion I wore double denim in Topshop dungarees and my vintage denim jacket and was complimented. I was even complimented on my healthy looking skin, which has never happened, could it be the Ibiza tan or perhaps the use of Dr Hauschka products??

My second outfit was also a success, the vintage Americana printed sheer Primark top (Primark's brilliant Prada copy from last summer) is a favourite with me and many of my work friends who always say they love the top. Worn with my Vivien of Holloway 1950s jeans and Converse and hair worn in a twisted quiff with the mandatory head scarf which finished the vintage look off perfectly.

Thanks for following and I hope you liked today's outfits, feel free to leave comments, feedback is always welcome!

No Debutante - Fashion Mash up!

To round things up nicely and before you get to see all my lovely outfits from my Ibiza holiday, I have compiled some photographs of things that I wore and did in the run up to the holiday, which for me is about to come to end as I return to work tomorrow!!

The first two outfits were worn a few days before my holiday and I was rapidly running out of summer clothes to wear in the continuing UK heatwave as most of my favourite items were packed away to be worn in Ibiza. Being a person with more clothes than is probably necessary, I soldiered on and managed to create a couple of looks to show you. My colleagues at work have been calling me a 1940s land girl and then a parent from the school called me a Punk Land Girl, I, of course, take both of these comments as compliments and continue to rock it up land grrrrllll style!

I got really excited today when I noticed that Vivien of Holloway who design the vintage jeans that I am wearing in the first outfit are now following me on Instagram! I am a very happy camper that they like my style. Alot of Vivien of Holloway lovers are pure 1950s, rockabilly or 1940s (Paloma Faith is always rocking her look in Vivien of Holloway outfits) so it is an honour that they have noticed and liked my hybrid version of 1940s and 50s styling. I wore Vivien of Holloway to my wedding and have been hooked ever since, please check them out here www.vivienofholloway.com you won't be disappointed!!

The second set of images were from a lunchtime browse around the shops in Bristol, which ended up costing me money......whoops! I fell in love with the late 1980s Fresh Prince of Bel-Air stylee collection by Kuccia at Topshop, there is so much print and colour and bodycon, I just couldn't resist trying it on!! I loved the printed catsuit and even more with the silky geometric print bomber jacket worn over it. It's print clash fantastic!! I didn't leave Topshop empty handed and I am now the proud owner of the bomber jacket. The saga of me finding the perfect Khaki airforce bomber jacket is still continuing, I'll tell you about it when I finally have the right one in my hands!! At least I have my Fresh Prince bomber jacket now!! Yes,I did take photos of myself in the changing rooms and someone even tried to tell on me to the Shopgirl, who really couldn't give a damn, some people (the other costumer on this occasion) are assholes!! I still love the catsuit.......

So the last photograph has become something of a running joke with me and my husband Phil. It started with the Rad t-shirt and has now become an obsession to send each other photographs of fake skate fashion images and clothing ripping off or referencing skaters. I found this beaut in H&M announcing 'I love Skateboys' and had to text it to Phil instantly. I did not buy it, you may be surprised to hear.

Thanks for following.

No Debutante - Hot Hot Heat

I've been in a bit of  a tomboyish mood the past couple of days wearing t-shirts and jeans or denim cut offs.

So, yesterday to work I wore my Primark RAD crop top, Vivien of Holloway 1950s jeans and Converse with my H&M headscarf  and Tatty Devine necklace - OMG I found the most amazing Tatty Devine necklace on their website, I really want it but it is £295 which is bit out of my price range. Oh Tatty Devine why can't you sponsor my blog and send me your beautiful jewellery??? I will deffo blog the necklace soon, you will love it too, I'm sure, until then I shall obsess over it, like that silk Zara bomber jacket that I still don't own.......

Today I wore my Sonic Youth tee and denim cut offs, I was so hot I couldn't manage anything except flip flops on my feet!! We went on a family trip to see my hair stylist Vikki Mac, the boys and Phil all went for the retro short back and sides cut and you will get to see my hair in the next personal style post! So watch this space!

Hope you like today's outfits and thanks for following!

No Debutante - Be Bop A Lula

Since I have been posting daily personal style pictures onto my various social networking sites I have become aware that there definitely will be copies of the same outfit, since I cannot sustain buying new clothes every single week, as much as I would like to! I have, so far, found it pretty easy to change each outfit enough to make it appear as if it is a new look even when the main pieces are the same, all you need to do is wear your hair differently and generally use different accessories and ideas to keep each look fresh. As with most people, I have a main capsule wardrobe that I co-ordinate and accessorise to create as many new looks as is possible and I add new pieces to the wardrobe to keep things current as well as finding old pieces and introducing them back into my wardrobe. I hope I have managed to keep things diverse and fresh, what do you think??

Today, I have worn my breton tee and Vivien of Holloway jeans (regular items on my personal style posts) and have tried out another new way to wear a headscarf, this time I have worn my hair down, put a victory roll in the fringe and worn a headscarf over my hair, the scarf is basically worn on the back of my head, I have added a bit of backcombing to keep the scarf in place and I am rather pleased to say that the scarf has stayed put all day!! I have worn my red converse today mixed with the blue frilly socks on this occasion for another variation on this look. This look was a popular one on Instagram today which was great!!

Last night we dressed the boys and Sylvie in their wedding outfits, they looked so cute, I am seeing a very big family fashion post coming up and I cannot wait to show you how we dressed for a wedding!!

It's Thursday night, it's wine o'clock......The weekend is nearly here! Yey!!
Thanks for reading.
