My Memphis Mani

Check out my amazing Memphis mani by Emily Fisher at The Gossip Nail Bar. It is just perfect for me, I am obsessed with Memphis style prints and the cute pastels colours are adorable!

Emily, also known as the top youtuber Mermaid Gossip, had already created the design on some sample nails, I knew I had to have them as soon as I saw them come up on The Gossip Nail Bar insta account. I was super excited to find out that I was the first person to ever get the 'Saved by the Bell' nails, as Emily has named them!

Emily introduced me to MoYou nail stamps which are totally brilliant and I have been obsessed with them ever since, but on this occasion these Memphis beauties were created & painted free hand by Emily. This lady is super talented!

Thanks so much for my Memphis mani Emily, if you want a Saved By The Bell nail makeover or want a top mani then get yourself over to The Gossip Nail Bar at Glitch in Bristol!

Print clash winter fash

The colder it gets the more I want to wear bright colours & bold prints, with the big chill upon us, let's look how we can style up prints, colours & layers this long winter, No Debutante style.

My style is quirky, I throw stuff together to see if it works & mostly it does. I do not take my styling too seriously & I often get inspiration from designers & people who are equally as quirky. It makes for a fun world!

I have been on the look out for printed trousers lately, it is my current obsession. I had some lucky finds at Monki with the polka-dot & striped trousers (see below for these bold printed gems) & today I have resurrected my leopard print leggings (purchased at H&M about 5 years ago).

Leopard print has been all over the AW 2018 fashion shows but I seriously overdid leopard print a few years back, I ended up with a tonne of leopard print everythings, which then put me off it, too much of a good thing really can be too much! It's been a few years now & I have decided to let leopard print back in to life....just a little.....

No Debutante loves these Monk polka-dot trousers paired up with the Fruit Salad red batwing crop hoodie

Bringing leopard print back with print clashed styling & lots of layers

Pirate inspo - Monki stripe trousers worn with an oversized Fruit Salad long sleeve tee

Everyones fave - The amazing polka-dot jumpsuit from The White Pepper

Micro trends Feb 2018

As a fashion blogger and journalist I follow trends, I check out what's happening on the streets, on the catwalks, on social media, I am also influenced by films and music. I am not influenced by anything that is trending, if the masses are into it, then I am not. I want to be an individual, I take influence from both the past & current trends but will not religiously wear this seasons colour, well not on purpose anyway, I will also mix my latest garms with items that have been in my wardrobe for years.

Fashion designers help to influence your style and in turn they are influenced by each other, which is where the trends come from, including that ridiculous 'this seasons colour', that you should be wearing, a myth created by fashion magazines and corporates to sell more items! Who the hell says I can't wear last seasons colour? It just encourages me to wear it more, at least no-one else will be wearing it! Not to mention what a waste of materials, money & how unsustainable fast fashion is!

Here are a few micro trends that I have personally been influenced by lately, these images have been collected on pinterest and are my own little pot of trends that influence me and my style one way or another. I hope they inspire you too! Consider reworking your current wardrobe, buying less and perhaps making your own clothes? Expect more micro trends very soon up on the No Debutante blog!

Supercute at Lazy Oaf

Stop this super-cuteness Lazy Oaf, I want it all noooooow! Pink ribbons and ruffled sleeves and hems in candy colours?? All in super soft cotton jerseys too, quite possibly the cutest streetwear ever! Lazy Oaf can do no wrong! No Debutante loves Lazy Oaf!

Bright and Beautiful

I love these super bright printed dresses with matching tights from the Jeremy Scott & Tom Ford Fall 2018 collections. I've always had a thing for coloured tights, so this is a very exciting & inspiring look for me! Thigh high dresses, statement hair or headresses and big earrings. what's not to like here? Dayglo leopard print? Yes please!

Eighties styling at Urban Outfitters

The styling of this shoot from Urban Outfitters for AW17 is super exciting. Shell jackets mixed with slip dresses and slouch boots or a long faux fur worn with a sports top, ski-pants (yes! ski-pants are back) and a stiletto heel. This has to be the most fabulously styled retro collection ever! I need to find out my 80s slouch boots and pointed slip ons immediately!

Look into my eyes

There has been a lot of minimal eyeliner inspo happening over the past year, from small dots on your eyelids to artist graphic lines around the eyes, with the geometric memphis trend beginning to filter through into make up styles too. Glitter is still with us as is the strong brow and coloured mascara is slowly creeping back in, applied on the strong brows too. If you are not a statement outfit type of person, perhaps statement make up is for you?

Not just for men

Despite my love of make-up, frilly pink garms, colourful tights and 80s slip ons, I am a slave to being comfortable and often turn to mens fashion for comfortable clothing inspo. The menswear collections are now blurring with womenswear in a welcome blend of androgynous styling. I am not interested in whether an item has been made for a man or a woman, I am just interested in bright colours, prints and being comfortable!

Liam Hodges' camouflage and contrast blocking

Camouflage has always been a fave of mine and I am just loving the way Liam Hodges has used different panels on his army surplus style jacket and trousers, I am really into panel blocking at the moment, especially on trousers, and this is a perfect example of it. Camouflage and Converse it is then!

Brights and clashes at Libertine

I am loving the clashing printed streetwear and bright coloured striped knitwear at Libertine for AW 2018. I am also obsessed with printed or bright coloured trousers at the moment, they are pretty hard to find on the high street. I have found a couple of brilliant polka-dot and striped pairs at Monki recently but I am now inspired to make my own in big bold colours and prints!

Popples prints at Jeremy Scott AW18

No Debutante is loving the Jeremy Scott AW18 collection.

With bright clashing colours, clashing prints & a mash up of street style & high fashion pieces Jeremy fails to disappoint. This collection features a mix of super cute pastels, cuddly streetwear garms including oversized sweatshirts, coloured tights, acid bright patchworks, amazing over the knee moon boots, bombers, meggings, sharp crop jacket & skirt co-ords, bright faux fur appliques, metallics & sheer layers, super cuddly velours & the iconic & retro, 80s Popples prints that adorned many of the garms in the collection.

Jeremy Scott had previously been under speculation regarding plagiarism of prints by recreating iconic prints including those by skate artist Jim Phillips, whose work the iconic Screaming Hand (originally used by skate brand Santa Cruz) was recreated by Scott. Of course many designers get inspiration from artists but Jeremy's recreations were so similar to the originals that questions were certainly asked! We can only hope Jeremy got permission from the Popples police for the use of their imagery!

Despite Jeremy Scott's love of iconic imagery & whether he should be using it or not, No Debutante has always been a fan of his mix of streetwear, club kid & kawaii collections, there is always a hint of 1960's space age too, which I love! Bright colours, cute prints & a rebellious, look at me, I'm not doing what everyone else is doing attitude, will always keep Jeremy Scott as one of my fave designers.

Check out a few of my fave pieces from the collection below. Which is your favourite?

Winter Wonderland

It seems like winter never ends here in the UK, with snow on the horizon temperatures are set to plummet. For years I refused to give in to winter, I hated it & found it very restricting fashionwise but the last few years it has come as a surprise to me that I don't mind winter, I almost look forward to a bit of winter fashion & masses of layering! Don't get me wrong, I still wear a lot of what some would call 'summer items', I manage to make (most of) my wardrobe work all year round & layering is the key. An array of coats, jackets & faux furs certainly help to keep the winter blues away, keeping you warm and stylish through those chilly months. By just experimenting with different coats and hats you can keep your look fresh instead of wearing the same coat for the whole winter. Don't forget to add pops off colour too, the weather may be dull but you are not!

Here's a few of the No Debutante outfits from winter 2018. My colour scheme is unusually co-ordinated for me this winter with monochromes, candy pinks, bright red & cyan blues being the colours of choice, alongside oversized tops, culottes, velvets, mesh dresses, cute prints & my new favourite pink Monki beanie.

Cuddly layers, keeping it cute with pink colour blocks

Beating the winter blues by layering up a t-shirt & a sheer dress

Oversized winter reds

Layered up mesh dresses

Fun polka-dot & heart print layers
