Velveteen

There seems to be a theme appearing this December in the No Debutante World, whether its pastels, bright pinks or cyan greeny blues it seems to appear on everything from nail art, velvet garms, vinyl to hair colour & earrings! It's clearly my current obsession & it even matches my phone.

I am just loving the metallic bright velvet pieces from Monki, velvet is such a cosy wintry fabric & gets a new lease of life in these bright colour pops, perfect for Christmas too! Check out my super cute party nails by Mermaid Gossip from The Gossip Nail Bar in Bristol. I am totally obsessed with this girls skills & style!

Not For Ponies

As a fashion editor I get to promote and support wonderful Bristol fashion independents but as No Debutante I can promote fashion indies from around the globe. Recently I was contacted by a super cute streetwear brand  from the North East of England named Not For Ponies who embellish tops and accessories with sweet and quirky appliques.

The self-confessed cute, kooky and lover of weird stuff, Rebecca Andrews is the Not For Ponies designer and is inspired by bright colours, bold prints and quirky graphics. Rebecca has been creating fun and fabulous creations since 2009, starting with a market stall and moving on to a successful streetwear brand.  Rebecca creates small batches of items with each garment being made with a little bit of fun and a lot of TLC.

These cute garms aren't  just for kids, these kawaii gems come in adult sizes too plus there is still time to pick up your Christmas jumper or buy a super sweet Christmas gift. From kawaii styles, animal prints to more playful Lazy Oaf kooky graphics, bag yourself (and your kids) some garms from Not For Ponies and support independent fashion in the UK.

The range consists of cutest appliqued motifs embellished onto bold and bright t-shirts and quirky sweats for women, men and kids, with a Christmas range available too. There are also kooky purses and fun tote bags too (great for last-minute Christmas gift ideas).

Be quick though, as Not For Ponies is an online pop-up which will be open until January 31st 2018. An online pop-up is a great platform to show off what you have created and share the fashion love with us all. It’s an easier way to test out the water, find your customer and to get yourself noticed, without putting loads of effort and money into something in one go, which can be super risky in fashion. Not that this is a problem for Not For Ponies as they’ve already featured on This Morning and kids TV show Milkshake! Nice!

As a supporter of independent fashion and as a fashion designer myself, I have experienced and seen so many fall at the first hurdle by putting too much money and time into something only to not see it through. Not For Ponies certainly seem to have their heads screwed on, it pays to be savvy fashionistas!

Saturated Seventies

Inspired by the photo shoot 'Like dreamers do' by photographer Tim Walker for Vogue Magazine back in 2012, here are a collection of over saturated, soft focus but vibrant photographs that give off a boho glam, 1970s feel.

Many of my family photos from the 1970s have faded with a red saturation which adds to the way I see the 1970s in my mind, there is a look of nostalgia and a glamorous time, even though the 1970s was far from it, I just love the vibrant colours and the hazy style, even if it is seen through rose tinted sunglasses.

The style itself is a great inspiration and continuation into the winter months for all those among us longing to get back into their festival glitters and sparkles or for those seventies style vintage lovers wearing bespoke, original fashion pieces.

The colours are warm, dark and much more suited to the winter, in rich burgundies, burnt oranges, crimson reds and dark purples with some electric blue thrown in.

By adding faux fur coats, psychedelic tights, tasselled scarves, flared sleeves, baby doll dresses, sequins and velvets to your winter wardrobe you can keep the bohemian festival style and a love of vintage going through the winter. Perhaps a perfect alternative to that sparkling Christmas outfit? The weather my be cold but you are looking hot!

Super cute pastels

No Debutante has always been a fan of sugar sweet pastels, it's the perfect contrast from the androgynous styling and oversized layers. Lately I have picked up some rather cute pastel pieces including the super cute pink puma trainers with the double ribbon laces and how about the cuddly cropped Lazy Oaf cardigan? Not sure about the whole pastel look? Why not get your mermaid pastel nails did?  Add some pastels into your wardrobe this winter x

Sheer Love

Nothing new here, just a continuing love affair between sheer dresses, t-shirts and kimonos! If you are not up for the full on show your undies sheers, especially in these colder months, why not try adding a sheer top layer to your outfit like GEM's colourful sheer jacket or Neat Frontage's appliqued Kimono? Wear a long sleeve t-shirt over last seasons sheer slip dress with some trousers or leggings underneath, that'll keep you warm but will also add a new layer to your look.

Yeah, the images below are giving off summer vibes but get inspired, how can you make sheers work for you this winter? Sheers can work all year round layered up, have fun with it AND give it a go!

Lazy Oaf drops G.E.M a super cute new label with balls

Lazy Oaf have dropped the cutest new collection named G.E.M, a venture label to Lazy Oaf by founder Gemma Shiel, who wants to make G. E.M a fashion label for girls with balls! Gemma wanted this new label to be even more surreal and weird, with an element of glamour, mystery and excitement! This is all sounds right up No Debutante's street! There are some rock'n'roll punk elements to the first G.E.M collection with a pastel cute aspect that Lazy Oaf are known and loved for, G.E.M adds some rebellious glamour that makes it stand apart from Lazy Oaf's goofy-cool streetwear style. Check out my favourite pieces below and sigh over their beautifullness....

Decorated Denims

Here's part two of the No Debutante current obsessions series, it features a few more denim pieces that have caught my eye and a couple of fashion independents & local designers denim pieces too.

Denim Daze

Wear your denim baggy, patched up, customised, in bright colours and embroideries, make it kitsch and cute, add some streetstyle swagger, just don't wear it plain, it's embellished denim all the way!
